00:00I grew up in an area in South Africa that is a farmland area, Polakwane.
00:05And there is some issues up there, obviously.
00:10My dad was a property developer as well as a part-time farmer.
00:14And, yeah, some of his buddy farmers got killed.
00:19The farm is still going. My brother's run it.
00:22But it's a constant battle with farms trying to get...
00:25They're trying to burn the farms down to chase you away.
00:28So it is a concern to try and make a living as a farmer.
00:33And at the end, without farmers, there's no food on the plate.
00:37So we need the farmers to produce the food.
00:40He wouldn't even want to do what you're doing.
00:43They love farming. They don't want to leave.
00:45But it's a struggle.
00:47Yeah, and food and fresh water is the most important thing in life.
00:51Without those two things, you can't survive.
00:53How is the water there?
00:55The water is great, obviously.
00:58All the water comes out of a borehole, out of ground for us.
01:02Right.
01:03But, yeah, it is a battle to get the water out sometimes
01:07when all the equipment gets stolen all the time
01:09that you're trying to get the water out.
01:10So does your family and your brother, do they feel safe on the farm?
01:14They live behind electric fences, you know,
01:17try and be at night safe.
01:19But it is constant whenever you leave that something could happen.
01:26And, you know, both of them have been attacked in their houses.
01:32My mom's been attacked in their house when she was 80.
01:34So it is difficult.
01:38I hope.
01:38But I hope.
01:39Yeah, thank you.
