00:00A sweep at stake today in Fenway for the Boston Red Sox against the New York Mets.
00:07It has been the Sox in each of the first two, planking New York yesterday to zip.
00:12After Walker Bueller was ejected, six total pitchers, including Bueller,
00:16only allowing four base knocks in total to the New York Mets,
00:19who came up with a goose egg last night in Boston.
00:23Tonight, Garrett Crochet on the bump for the Red Sox against Tyler McGill
00:27on the other side for the Amazons.
00:29His total is eight.
00:30Boston is favored to pull off this three-game series sweep.
00:34Will the Red Sox do just that?
00:35Taking all three from New York tonight in Fenway.
00:38I'll tell you what's interesting.
00:39You take a look at Tyler McGill's last 24 innings over the past month.
00:42He's got a high ERA, close to six, but his exit number very manageable at 3.54.
00:47Garrett Crochet, on the other hand, 31 innings pitched over the past month, Ben.
00:50A 290 ERA and a 277 exit number.
00:53He's been great and particularly great as a left-handed pitcher
00:56against right-handed batters, which is key,
00:58because that's the majority of the lineup that you're going to get.
01:00Today, the left-handed batters in the lineup probably for the New York Mets,
01:03Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo.
01:05Both of them do have high weighted on base percentage in isos against lefties,
01:08so we'll see how that plays out.
01:09But as I said, on the season, Crochet's been phenomenal as well.
01:13The one thing that the Mets have done well, particularly over the past month, though,
01:16is as a team, hit left-handed pitching really well.
01:19Outside of Tyrone Taylor, everybody is really elevated, weighted on base percentages,
01:23and low K rates.
01:25Here is the issue.
01:26Like, yes, you take a look at these two pitchers, they should be able to deal.
01:29It's a small ballpark.
01:30See the final score yesterday?
01:31Well, today, again, 50-degree temperatures, which you never like,
01:34and a double-digit wind blowing in from right field.
01:36It's just not a great hitting environment.
01:38So, for me, instead of taking a look at both of these teams,
01:40which I do like at the plate, but it's just a severe downgrade with the pitchers on the mound
01:44and the ballpark with those weather conditions,
01:46probably going to stay under the total today for me.
01:49Yeah, it's not great weather here along the East Coast.
01:52Really, the remainder of this week gets a little bit better during Memorial Day weekend,
01:57the holiday weekend upcoming.
01:59Just not exactly the most springtime vibes at this moment.
02:03The Mets now trail the Phillies by a game and a half in the National League East.
02:06The Phillies have won five straight.
02:08They swept the Pirates.
02:09And, of course, they have started off winning both of the two games so far this week at Coors Field.
02:15You've got to beat the bad teams and take advantage.
02:17The Phillies have done that against the Buccos and the Colorado Rockies.
02:21The New York Yankees yesterday opening up their midweek set in the Bronx
02:25against the Texas Rangers.
02:265-2 win for the Pinscripes.
02:29My apologies, Will Warren.
02:30I kind of laughed at the idea the Yanks were nearly a $2 favorite with Warren on the bump.
02:35Five innings of shutout work against Texas yesterday.
02:38K-10, Aaron Judge, his 16th home run this season.
02:43That's the most in the AL, but the shortest of his career.
02:48326 feet, barely over the short porch in right.
02:52Clown show.
02:53Any comment down on your right side?
02:55Yep, absolute clown show ballpark up there.
02:58We could go out there today in the Bronx and knock stuff into the upper deck there
03:01in that short right field porch.
03:03Just the way it is.
03:04Shortness.
03:04I'm not so sure I could.
03:05I don't have the greatest bat.
03:06I'm pretty good on the bump, though, as is Jacob DeGrom, who was sensational in his
03:11last start.
03:12Makes his return to the Big Apple.
03:14Of course, not in Queens, but this time up in the Bronx.
03:17However, the Rangers, an ever so slight road underdog today inside Yankee Stadium.
03:22Total seven and a half.
03:24What do you like in the Bronx battle?
03:26Jacob DeGrom has been filthy over the past month.
03:2829 and a third innings pitch here.
03:301-5-3 ERA and an exit of 2.43.
03:33Now, here's the interesting part that we're going to get into, not the pitching of Jacob
03:36DeGrom, which I think will do a very good job against those Yankee bats.
03:39But once again, Northeast, 52-degree temperatures, double-digit wind blowing in from right field,
03:43rain in the forecast.
03:44It's just not great.
03:45But how about Yarbrough?
03:46This is the ultimate, right?
03:47Only 13 and two-thirds innings pitched over the past month.
03:49So not a huge, you know, game plan that we can sort of devise against him.
03:53His ERA band, 1-9-8.
03:54Oh, that's awesome.
03:55What if I told you his exit was 5.18, just looking to get beat up there out on the mound?
04:01But if we are looking at the lineup today, left-handed pitchers over the past month have
04:05really done well against the Texas Rangers.
04:08Langford and Jung have high numbers out there.
04:11Iso and weighted on base percentage.
04:13Everybody else, absolutely horrendous.
04:16So I look at the 7.5 tonight with DeGrom on the mound, I think he's going to keep it down.
04:19Same thing here with Yarbrough and that bullpen for the Yankees.
04:22Under 7.5 in the Bronx.
04:23You never want to do that, but tonight the weather conditions and the pitching matchup
04:27makes me do it.
