Darryl Chappelow has been picking up all kinds of litter on Wanda and Greenhills beaches for 30 years
Transcript
00:00Yep, so every day that I'm on the beach I pick up hundreds of lollipop sticks, but there's even more cotton bud sticks, they're the most common rocks, they're made out of plastic these ones, but no longer they're allowed to be made out of plastic, made out of cardboard, but they come down the sewers and they're everywhere.
00:28They're the most common piece of rubbish at both of them. Lots of fishermen's hooks and line and floats, some of that could have been accidental, maybe the moors have come off, but it's still dangerous for dogs. My dog ate a baited hook that had a macka on it and unfortunately hadn't had the hook removed from his stomach.
00:47So, from that point on, I'm always very diligent in trying to find hooks and changing things on the beach, including a lot of broken bottles of glass. There's a lot of tosses, unfortunately, that come from all the beach, and not enough people that actively pick up rubbish.
01:01So, come on Shire, pick it up, pick up at least three for the sea. What a beautiful beach we have, but come on, let's all get together and clean it up.
