The retirement age for civil servants should be extended to 65, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, urging the unity government to consider the proposal seriously.
Speaking at the ministry's 2024 Excellent Service Awards Ceremony 2025 event on Tuesday (May 20), Azalina pointed out that the mandatory retirement age for judges is 65, with an optional six-month extension — a model she believes could be expanded to the broader civil service.
