Is Kent ready to rethink its relationship with Europe after new post-brexit deal?

With the UK and EU agreeing to ease red tape, Kent faces a key question: could rising costs and shifting attitudes spark a change in public opinion?   Our reporter Ollie Leader hits Gravesham to find out.

00:40do voters here feel better off and do they support the new deal between the eu and the uk

00:48i've had a referendum on brexit and it's decided that people wanted to leave

00:56but the way i see it now i see labor trying to go in the back door and reunite us with europe

01:05you know when they were we see things have not gone up like this but now everything is too costly

01:11people are struggling when we used to get a lot of cheap potatoes and strawberries in summer and lots

01:17of stuff like that and they're still bringing it over from europe and paying more for it

01:24yeah you've got so much money coming in but you've got to spend more to get what you want so yeah

01:29even simple things like cooking oils are more expensive everything really because they're more

01:34expensive get back to a better trading environment with our closest neighbors really so that yeah

01:41everything just works better yeah anything that helps and way things are at the moment nothing's

01:46helping so if it helps fine part of the reason for this deal with the eu is to make these groceries

01:53here much cheaper these are the everyday essentials and they're more expensive since brexit according to

02:01the office of national statistics take tomatoes these used to cost around two pounds per kilogram now they

02:10cost more like three quid fixing this may put more money back in people's pockets here in kent reducing red tape

02:21could potentially mean the end for lorry queues at the port of dover and other border crossings as well

02:29but whether it will alleviate some of the brexit remorse on the streets of north kent
