00:15A ram might look like a calm animal with that sweet face that just wants to graze and live in peace.

00:21But behind that peaceful stare lives a four-legged demon that specializes in attacking people.

00:30The real value of this animal is only on the barbecue, though it's also good for putting people's spines back in place.

00:50No matter how friendly a ram might seem, you can never trust one when it comes to head-butting.

01:00Head-butting is the official sport of rams from the time they're born.

01:09They come out already training their heads.

01:11Having a head ready to ram is a genetic trait that goes way back to when sheep roam free in the fields.

01:17No fences, no worries about ending up on a barbecue someday.

01:20Young rams grow up watching head-butt battles and learning how to fight.

03:49According to his owner, Chico acts like that because he's been betrayed before.

04:05A person should never scratch, slap, or pet a ram on the head.

04:17He sees those gestures as a direct challenge.

04:20And that's when the aggressive behavior kicks in.

04:22You might think you're being affectionate.

04:24But in his mind, you're basically saying, come at me, bro.

04:37Suddenly the ram sees the person scratching his head as just another member of the flock.

04:41And if you're part of the flock, you need to be dominated.

04:48Rams are naturally herd animals.

04:51And in every herd, there has to be a leader.

04:53That's why the males constantly try to establish a social order through headbutting.

05:00But out of nowhere, he'll charge full speed and smash head-to-head with his rival, creating a loud bone-rattling thud.

05:07Meanwhile, the female sheep nearby just seem to be smiling peacefully, watching the males do exactly what nature intended.

05:16Now imagine a human taking a hit like that.

05:19When someone pets a ram on the head, it might seem like he enjoys it.

05:27He gently pushes the person back, who usually tries to resist.

05:31But when they can't stop the ram, they might try to hold his head in place.

05:35That's when things get worse.

05:36The ram pushes harder.

05:38Then comes the magical moment, at least for the ram.

05:41That's when he decides it's time to prove he's the champion.

05:44He backs up a few feet and charges in for the headbutt.

05:46After that, may the best one win.

05:48And that's when you're in trouble, because a ram's headbutt can be seriously dangerous.

06:04Sure, the headbutts might seem harmless to the champion, but not to a human.

06:08That thick skull of his is strong enough to break a person's arms or legs, or even hurt other animals.
