00:14at the large hadron collider recently forced lead particles together at very nearly the

00:18speed of light producing what they say is the first matter that the big bang created 13.8

00:23billion years ago it's called quark gluon plasma a short-lived primordial type of matter that has

00:28likely shown scientists how the universe evolved in its first moments the substance is a perfect

00:33liquid flowing better than any other known matter and it's the fundamental building block of all

00:37things gluons connecting quarks eventually forming subatomic particles then becoming hadrons protons

00:42and neutrons the whole event lasted only 10 to the minus 23 seconds a fraction of a fraction of a

00:49millisecond but using a computer simulator and data gathering instruments they were able to determine

00:53what happened between the moment the lead particles collided and the moment the resulting quark gluon

00:58plasma condensed into hadrons revealing what our universe was truly like in the immediate moment
