00:00We've been here in Lennon again on behalf of Save Our Heathlands, finding out more from Maystown Borough Council and Homes England on what they're actually proposing for the new 5,000 home development here in Lennon.
00:12Again, after six years, we still don't seem to have any more detail than what was originally proposed.
00:19It's really lacking in any depth. Residents really want to know more about exactly what these proposals include.
00:27You've got to remember that we've been promised lots of new infrastructure over the last six years since this scheme came to fruition.
00:36Originally, we were proposing a new high-speed railway station on the high-speed line. That fell away because it wasn't deliverable.
00:44Then there was an M20 junction proposal to actually connect this massive new town to the motorway, and that fell away because National Highways weren't interested in delivering that for these number of homes.
00:56So now we're relying on the existing infrastructure here in Lennon, which just isn't fit for purpose for a development of such scale.
01:04Residents still want to know more. It's a shame that after so many years, the information isn't forthcoming.
01:10And really, we need to push Maystown Borough Council and Homes England to be more open with exactly what they're working on behind the scenes.
