Scottie Scheffler reflects on his PGA Championship win and being compared to Tiger Woods
Transcript
00:00It was a long week. I felt like this was as hard as I've battled for a tournament in my career.
00:04I mean, this was a pretty challenging week.
00:07I mean, the first two days I did not swing at my best and I was able to post a score somehow.
00:10And outside of the last five holes yesterday, you know, that's where I really kind of put myself ahead in the tournament.
00:15The back nine today was pretty special as well, but yesterday, the way I finished off that round,
00:19I think it was really important for me to have a lead to play with today.
00:22And I played with it a little bit more than I would have liked to.
00:24I think at one point in the tournament I was tied for the lead on the back nine,
00:27but stepped up when we needed to and it was a pretty special week.
00:30You did some things last year that we haven't seen since peak Tiger Woods.
00:34But if you look statistically, you're actually trending to be even better.
00:37How have you and your team been able to do that?
00:38I don't know. I think we put in a lot of work to showing up here to tournaments to try and do our best.
00:43And, you know, I have a great team around me.
00:46I have a manager that keeps my mind clear.
00:48You know, I don't have a ton of responsibilities outside of the game of golf.
00:51And I've got a great coach in Randy, got a great putting coach in Phil, got a great caddy, got a great family,
00:55you know, a great wife and a wonderful son.
00:57And I feel like off the golf course, my life is wonderful.
01:00You know, we live what I would feel like is a pretty simple life at home.
01:03And, you know, we're looking forward to getting home this week
01:05and just doing normal stuff with our friends, you know, celebrating a nice win.
