00:00I was born in 1963, just after the 1961 tragedy that took away the entire U.S. team.
00:14But I grew up and around its effects on our sport.
00:17We're going around the corner, right?
00:18Yeah.
00:19To see it happen again reminded me of the stories I heard of the resolve it took by those that remained.
00:26Whatever you guys do, just do it with passion and feel comfortable.
00:32We're doing a good thing for good people.
00:34To not only honor who was lost, but celebrate them and preserve the passion they had for the life lived through this sport.
00:45Yes, down through those doors.
00:48Are we both right this way?
00:50Okay, so Grace is here, I'm right there.
00:52We wanted this generation of skaters who have to carry this new legacy forward to have a singular moment when their path to healing could start.
01:03I taught a lot of them at the National Development Camp.
01:17They asked such great questions, and they were all questions about their future and looking forward.
01:23And so many of them are gone, it's really difficult.
01:26You know, it just gave me chills.
01:40It still, like, makes me emotional to, like, think about.
01:45A huge part of our future was at that camp.
01:48They were the best of the best in their level.
01:51The improv class that I taught the last couple hours, it was really beautiful to see that.
02:04The impact of the devastation of this plane crash, like, can really just not be talked about enough.
02:10Not just the skating communities, but, I mean, families and generations will feel this loss.
02:19So, what would Brian Boitano do?
02:32Whatever it took.
02:34Thanks to an incredible team, we booked the venue, we gathered the community and our resolve, and we put on our skates.
02:46Hey!
02:46Hey!
02:47Hi!
02:49Thanks for being here.
02:57Do you want to do our own camera?
02:59Hello, everyone.
03:00And welcome to Legacy on Ice.
03:06As athletes, we've learned how to be resilient and always try to find a positive path forward.
03:13I love this sport.
03:15They love this sport.
03:15And I'm going to show the world how much I love it and how much they love it.
03:24Legacy on Ice is a tribute.
03:26It is important to mourn the lost lives.
03:30It's also important to celebrate them.
03:33And we'll celebrate through the language that we know best, skating.
03:37For one night, in the shadow of a tragedy, we brought together the stars of this sport to respond with light and keep skating.
04:03Celebrate them.
04:14What they've done in their lives is 100% worth celebrating.
04:18The kids that were lost, skating is what they loved to do.
04:23So, it only felt right that that's how we remember them.
04:28So, it only felt right that that's how we remember them.
04:28It was great that that was the way they loved them.
04:28I could have accepted the past.
04:29So, it was way better than that.
04:30It was never an accident.
04:31I could have seen them.
04:32Something has hadn't
