00:00DRAGON DRIGEN
00:30If you would have told me prior to the beginning of S to the Super Junior 32 based off of last year's tournament
00:36that you had Dragon Dia sitting at the top of Block A by the halfway point.
00:42I would have told you to throw your bracket out and I would have called you a liar.
00:45But Dragon Dia making a fool out of me, you and everyone else in New Japan Pro Wrestling
00:50with the incredible performances put up against the litany of Junior Heavyweight Wrestling's best.
00:56But you want to talk about the best of Junior Heavyweight Wrestling.
00:59His opponent, well in the way of conversation.
01:09Well, Sean Dragon Dia came into this tournament this year thinking,
01:15well, at the very least, I need to do better than I did last year.
01:19And that was a 1-8 record that he had in last year's tournament.
01:24where he matched last year's score in night one.
01:29And now he's gone on to, well, win his last couple, beat Hiromu Takahashi yesterday.
01:34And he's facing a guy who was the only guy he beat in last year's tournament in Kushida.
01:41Well, you got to think Kushida was incredibly comfortable in that BJJ display that we saw against Kosei Fujita.
02:05Kosei Fujita, a match which Kosei Fujita had made his own against Kushida.
02:10But Kushida coming out on top in the end.
02:13Two more points on the board, five four for Kushida.
02:16And it could get very crowded at the top of Block A if Kushida walks away with the win tonight.
02:21But Kushida is such a positive, forward-thinking young man.
02:37And I think it benefited him in a way to come into this tournament as such an extreme underdog.
02:43And it benefited immensely knowing, well, I've never beaten any of these guys before.
02:49What's the worst that could happen?
02:50They'll beat me again?
02:51No big deal.
02:52And Dragon Daya took that and has gone on to put six points on the board.
02:56It's a different prospect when you're facing someone that you know you can beat, that you have beaten before.
03:02And that, well, Kushida feels very affronted by that loss right at the end of the tournament last year.
03:08Can you imagine being the only guy in a Block that took an L to someone last year's tournament?
03:16You really, really want to show up and make sure that Dragon Daya knows that was just a fluke.
03:23And you are already seeing the name of the game between these two men.
03:26Kushida wants to take Daya off his feet.
03:28As long as Daya is on the feet, Daya is going to keep moving, and it's going to be harder to stop him.
03:34As that dropkick going to prove plenty effective, Kushida to the outside.
03:38And we're already going for it.
03:39Wait a second, wait a second, wait a second.
03:41Oh, well, poor Zane J, Young Lion at ringside.
03:44Well, Kushida knew where Zane J was.
03:47Kushida spent most of his time in the States training, Zane J.
03:52Very familiar face here as it is.
03:54Oh, nice.
03:54Stayed out of the way of the arm there.
03:56Kushida laid a trap.
03:57Didn't go for it.
03:58Great sweep as well.
03:59Watch it. Daya.
04:03Full fresh and forward here is Dragon Daya.
04:07Daya making the point.
04:08NJPW1972.com.
04:10Kushida, it's like Kushida is a terrible person.
04:13He's not a black hat.
04:14He's not a heel, if you will.
04:16But Kushida has a scary side to him.
04:20He is a very intimidating individual.
04:22When he is ticked off, he can be vicious.
04:25He can be bullying.
04:26I'm sure Zane J knows all about that.
04:28And I think that that side of Kushida is going to come out if Dragon Daya lets it.
04:33One, two, three, one.
04:44Look out.
04:47Kushida, yeah, that's dropkick.
04:50Pinpoint accuracy, by the way.
04:52It was on the shoulder, I believe, of Dragon Daya.
04:55And it's taken Daya to the outside.
04:59And that was Kushida, by the way, inside that ring, telling Kenta Sato to start this count here, Chris.
05:04Well, maybe you can see what the game plan of Kushida is then.
05:12You make sure you stick that figure four in, and you stretch, and you stretch, and you stretch, until Dragon Daya can't walk and get back in.
05:21And Kushida is going to make the run back in, count of 18, Daya 19, back in, before the count of 20.
05:32And it's not a look of frustration on the face of Kushida, it's a look that says, well, all right, well, what comes next?
05:39Straight back out is what's next.
05:44I think Kushida is out to teach Dragon Daya a lesson, and not the sort of lesson he usually teaches in NJPW Academy.
05:51No, I mean, you see Dragon Daya was clutching at that left knee, and now, oh, the knee breaker.
06:01To slow down Dragon Daya is to slow the heart of Dragon Daya.
06:06Just when you think Dragon Daya is out, he's the man who's going to keep running and got to keep fighting,
06:12but when you can't run, that fight's going to go out quicker.
06:16And now from the knee to the arm.
06:18This is what he really, really wants to have.
06:25Everything all about that hoverboard lock.
06:27Dragon Daya, a hell of a competitor, sitting at the top of Block A alongside many men right now,
06:41and Kushida wants to join him.
06:43Dragon Daya, right now, I think, came in with a glimmer of a thought of, I could be alone at the top of A Block,
06:55the only person on eight points.
06:57But that is looking like a dim, dim possibility at this point.
07:02Wow, it breaks the 19 again.
07:04But full credit to Dragon Daya.
07:09Dragon could probably have gotten in earlier than that, but making the most of the referee's count,
07:13making sure he was out there until 19 and then getting in,
07:18and still not that it's going to help him very much in the face of Kushida.
07:22And the cover for Kushida, and it's two.
07:24You know, I really thought going into this match, I've seen it on paper,
07:30comparing it to what we saw 24 hours ago with Kushida and Kosei Fujida,
07:34that it would be very, very different matches.
07:37But that was only if Dragon Daya was going to be able to get the momentum going,
07:40and he hasn't been able to do that so far.
07:41Well, I mean, we saw a bit of it at the start of the match,
07:44but yeah, I mean, clearly Dragon Daya's game plan was try and keep moving
07:48and make sure I don't get caught.
07:49But yeah, I mean, here now he's in the clutches of the Anaconda, so to speak.
07:53It's very, very difficult once Kushida has started to take the pace.
07:58It's very difficult to change that.
08:00And now you see Kushida doing what he should do,
08:05keeping him snug, restrict the flow of blood to the brain,
08:07and all of the weight on the carotid artery.
08:10Look at that, that handstand there.
08:12I mean, that right there is the difference between 18 years of experiencing Kushida
08:15and only five years in that of Dragon Daya.
08:23I mean, it just feels like that third or fourth back elbow,
08:28maybe Dragon Daya thought, oh, I'm finally making progress.
08:30And then bang that kick to the shot.
08:32I mean, it just feels like that third or fourth back elbow,
08:36maybe Dragon Daya thought, oh, I'm finally making progress.
08:40and then bang that kick to the shoulder.
08:53And now I play again.
08:55And now that fly is going to flip and flop into it.
09:00Oh, that was a hard landing.
09:02as the cover only comes to two for Dragon Daya.
09:05Yeah, both knees on that moonsault went right to the mid section of Kushida.
09:10Now it's a lot of bad, good, good.
09:11And more like than you said,
09:25a lot of bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.
09:30right to the midsection of kushida now kushida is going to start sucking wins if dragon dyes smart
09:36he's going to home in his offense on that body
09:42as now daya gonna hang on top here kushida right through the center and watch out watch out
09:48die is on the run for it fight by flight
10:12now it's uncomfortable to see how long dragon die is spending on the ground there
10:19well i think again this is one of those situations where you you appreciate the
10:27almost the maturity in dragon die as a competitor i mean there's the heart the want to to keep going
10:31but you've got to conserve yourself got to take every little breath when you can every little
10:37bit of oxygen vital to you now you can use it to explode here we go on the run and oh kushida
10:44that is that is a lesson set a cover again whoa that was nearly it
10:56uh
11:06kushida on the attack here
11:08Oh, and Daya slows Kushida down, but not for long.
11:20Oh, Daya took it high, brought it low.
11:24And right through the center, Daya might repeat history.
11:29Daya might do what he did just one year ago in Best of the Super Junior 31.
11:33And he'd go for beating Hiromu to beating Kushida.
11:39That's beating six times in total.
11:45Best of the Super Junior winners.
11:47Beat 11 times in total, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champions.
11:51Maybe.
11:51It sets yourself up not just to be the best at Dragon Gate,
11:54but the best anyway, Reptilian.
11:57Oh, no, Kushida.
12:03Daya's got to find the footing here.
12:11Kushida sees it coming in, bow!
12:14And now.
12:16Yeah, that was, all I was praising is Maturity Walker earlier on.
12:21That was an unforced error.
12:23Dragon Daya wasn't sure which way to go when he chose the direction,
12:26Kushida was right there.
12:27Oh, no!
12:36Oh, no!
12:37Nice!
12:38Oh, Daya underneath!
12:39Great escape!
12:40Nice!
12:41Oh, Daya underneath!
12:42Great escape!
12:43Bah!
12:44Ah!
12:45Ah!
12:45Dragon Daya!
12:50Oh!
12:51Great escape!
12:52Oh, Daya!
12:53There you go!
12:55Go ahead, there you go.
12:58Another dragon, the Dog, this dragon passing it down.
13:01No scissors off the top.
13:03Here we go, got it this time, the runner, no.
13:06Reptilian Kai, no.
13:14That crucifix driver wasn't enough, but something's got to be.
13:18He's done it once before, and Dia could repeat it again.
13:25Line him up, four Ds and a T, Walker, here it comes.
13:32You can see it here.
13:35D, D, D, D, no, no.
13:55Oh.
13:59Oh.
14:01That's the moment Kushida was waiting for.
14:04And now, round we go.
14:07Oh, no, no, no.
14:08And that is not what you want to be if you are Dragon Dia.
14:12The hoverboard lock.
14:15Dragons trying to fight to the ropes.
14:18Kushida's got a gator roll in.
14:22And Kushida, yeah, that's going to force it.
14:25Submission loss for Dia.
14:27And now, it is jam packed at the top of Blockade.
14:31It is Kushida who now joins Kosei Fujita, Robby X, and Dragon Dia themselves at the top of Blockade competition.
14:56Kushida, far and away, still alive, and that's the Super Junior 32.
15:02And don't forget, Kushida with a very key tiebreaker, two key tiebreakers in that mix.
15:09That's just been done, beat Fuchita yesterday.
15:12Ah, you're right.
15:12Right, so if we're in a position, and it all is said and done, and everybody's lined up at the top, it's who has most wins in the tie.
15:20Kushida having two wins in the tie, very, very powerful for that man.
15:25And it will be the next time that we are live on NJPW World.
15:28It is Kushida, Clark Connors, one more time, and Gmese Kunma.
15:33Meanwhile, Dragon Dia will meet Francesco Akira once again.
15:37That's all coming up on NJPW World for night seven.
15:39We're moving right on in to Blockade.
