00:27What do you make of the game? Is that a bit of a relief now just to get that second-plane Champions League sorted?

00:32Yes, that's what we wanted to achieve today.

00:34We had a few objectives, finishing second, finishing the Champions League spots

00:40and as well finishing the season in front of our people in the right manner with the right results.

00:45Those two things have been achieved.

00:47Obviously for the players and you need to break this summer,

00:50but for the rest of the club what needs to be done now?

00:53Well, first of all, we have one more game to play and to finish it in the right way.

00:58Winning in South London is going to be really important again.

01:01And then, yeah, go on holidays.

01:03Time to reset first, bring the temperature down a little bit.

01:07It's been a long, long season and start to think and reflect in everything that we have planned is the right one.

01:13Start to make some steps, some action and come back here fresh on day one, ready to go again.

01:19On the pitch to the supporters after the game, you seemed very emotional,

01:25it was a very powerful message that you gave.

01:29Can you talk about your emotions and what you've gone through this season

01:33and maybe some sense of disappointment but also optimism?

01:37It was emotional because of the way I feel.

01:40And it's great, we had a dream, I said it out there.

01:45It was to deliver a big trophy this season for our people

01:49and because I think that the team deserves it as well in the journey

01:52that we've been together in the last three, four years.

01:54We haven't achieved that and there are a lot of factors and a lot of situations

01:58that we've been through for the last nine and a half months for that not happening.

02:01But make sure that we are still valued.

02:06A lot of the incredible things this club is doing, the team is doing, the players are doing,

02:11the way we are competing and the consistency that we are showing.

02:15Because if we are not able to see that, that's a really, really dangerous thing to do.

02:20Just expecting just something and playing if we don't, that's a really dangerous thing.

02:26And I know they don't want us there where we are now, knocking on the door every year

02:31and make sure that we can see clarity.

02:33We will stay very disciplined and very clear and ambitious with what we want to do in the summer.

02:37What would be your overall thought and reflection upon the season when you consider that?

02:43When you talk about how you did out there, we must not be blurred in our vision.

02:48I would leave that for the summer.

02:50I've done it in the dressing room and for me it's very clear.

02:53But I'm there every day.

02:56I know what we've been through for nine and a half months.

02:58I know what we've done.

02:59I know very well the history of this Premier League and the teams that have been

03:03not in 30% of the situation that we've been in.

03:06They have collapsed, completely collapsed.

03:08And we haven't.

03:09And I really value that because that shows that we have built something

03:12that is very, very sustainable and consistent,

03:15regardless if some people don't like to see it.

03:19Mikel, we heard from John O'Kromes before the game,

03:22the programme talking about the plan to invest this summer in the windows major trope.

03:26Do you feel going into that window you've got to vacuum from the owners that you need?

03:30Yeah, but that's not something new.

03:32I think they always back the team, the club, in the best possible way.

03:38And it's not going to be different in the summer.

03:40We have to be very smart with the decisions that we take.

03:42Obviously, we need players because the squad is really short.

03:45And on top of that, we are losing four or five players that are going to end contracts

03:49and the loans are finished.

03:51So we need to be sharp.

03:53Again, very disciplined in what we want to do.

03:56And make sure that we are stronger next season.

03:59Does the fact that you've now officially got that Champions League qualification mean

04:03you can literally tomorrow start executing that plan,

04:05because financially you don't know where you're going to do it?

04:07I mean, the plan is done and the time will be dictated by many parties,

04:11many circumstances that, unfortunately, we don't control.

04:14But we have great people in charge of that.

04:17And they're going to be leading that with the board and ownership.

04:21And as well, make sure that the ones that we have,

04:24they feel valued, they feel loved,

04:26make sure that they want to continue with us in the right manner.

04:29And then the whole environment that is excited, you know,

04:33that is not just about if we next, because we cannot start a season like that.

04:38And I want to feel that from day one.

04:40And I'm going to be very insistive on that.

04:45Is that an Italian man?

04:46Of course, injuries have been a massive part of the old season this time around.

04:50So you said on TV about injuries out on the teams,

04:53and the teams have been 16th and 17th in the...

04:56But not this season, eh?

04:57And in previous seasons, in the history,

04:59an eighth and fifth, missing one or two players only.

05:02So you said 16th and 17th, was that supposed to be United?

05:05No, no, no, no, that was in the past.

05:08And in the past, in five years ago, ten years ago,

05:11look in the memory and see what has happened in this league.

05:14Do you think next season, without injuries, obviously...

05:18I don't know.

06:42maybe stress a bit of patience, get that message about patience and not get frustrated

06:47by finishing second but keeping everybody on board and looking at how far you come and

06:51look at it now?

06:54I think it's now we finished second for the third season.

06:57In the last three seasons, there is one team that has been better than us in 12 points,

07:00which is Manchester City, which is the best team in the history of this league by a mile.

07:05And we are there.

07:06And Liverpool has a trophy.

07:07We don't have a trophy.

07:08We are in the Champions League semi-final for the last 16 years.

07:10And we are unsatisfied and upset.

07:13And it's not good enough.

07:32The ones that I see every day in the street, the ones that they contact me, the ones that

07:37I see every day, I would say that 100 per cent.

07:40But they want more because we have set the expectations and they've seen the team that

07:45is capable against any opposition to compete against them.

07:49So we need to believe that we're going to do it together.

08:02Just a word on those players in your thoughts.

08:05Well, the first one because of an injury of Willy.

08:08I think he felt something in his hamstring in the first half, unfortunately.

08:11So we had to make the substitution.

08:13And with the other two, Yekai, I mean, he's been incredibly fast in his recovery.

08:20I think the doctors were a bit easy too early, but he's been pushing it and he thought he

08:24could help the team and with Kieran as well.

08:27You know, he had a very special circumstances, the way he had to come back and settle in the

08:32team again after four months out.

08:34And he's been really good with the group and he has contributed.

08:37in every possible way to help us.

08:40And very grateful for that.

08:41And quite emotional for them as well, possibly their last games.

08:46Yeah, we had a few in that dressing room that probably is going to be the last time that

08:50they put that shirt at the Emirates.

08:52So I've been there and make sure that we are close to them.
