00:00We are in the midst of what is going to be the busiest stretch of severe weather so far in 2025 and that is going to continue into next week. But boy, has it already been quite the streak here. My trip kicked off back on Wednesday during the Southwest Nebraska Spout Fest. We saw numerous EFU land spouts. That means they were unrated as they were out in the middle of nowhere. Do not do any damage, but certainly filled the skies with some incredible sights. And after spending most of Thursday driving all the way across the central time zone to set up for what ended up being
00:29a very devastating event on Friday. I tracked several of those tornadoes across Southeast Missouri, including this monster tornado just to the north of Sykeston. I had a view on top of an overpass as that tornado crossed Interstate 55, damaging several homes and knocking down many trees. This just one of many very strong and unfortunately fatal tornadoes of this event as we saw multiple tornadoes stretched across multiple states from Missouri all the way through Kentucky and Indiana. I spent the early part of Saturday making my drive to here.
00:59Here in Oklahoma City, but took a detour as a storm fired southwest of Oklahoma City and it too produced a brief tornado near Paws Valley. Fortunately, this one brief did not do much in the way of damage, but certainly created a little bit of a scene for you there. As that storm started to work its way on off to the east, it left behind one of the most peaceful sites that I have seen in the last several days of storm chasing. Unfortunately, we're only in the middle of this stretch as we are expecting a very, very busy next several days kicking off with today. We will be targeting southern Kansas for our
01:29Sunday chase trip and then we will be working our way slowly to the east over the next several days as high and severe weather setups loom through the middle of next week. Reporting from Oklahoma City for AccuWeather, I'm meteorologist Tony Lawback.
