00:01Did you hear something?
00:03In the very first episode, Ellie felt tremendous fear
00:06because of a certain kind of infected.
00:13What the fuck is that?
00:14I think it's a smart one.
00:16And here in Seattle, they encounter 11 of them,
00:21which means death.
00:23When we were designing them,
00:25we started with the look from the game
00:27where we see these stalks growing out of them,
00:30and then we try to justify how else can we differentiate them.
00:33And we just said they have, like, certain nervous tics,
00:36and they start, like, ripping away their own face.
00:39The idea really is that they're all self-inflicted wounds on their face.
00:42There'll be a couple of guys who might have green areas
00:44that VFX will then be painting out.
00:47It was always important that these things
00:49never just purely feel like monsters,
00:51that you see the humanity underneath all of them.
00:54And often when we look at these sets
00:57or these designs of our infected,
00:59that's the kind of balance we're trying to strike
01:01between the different elements.
01:03I'm going to lure as many as I can.
01:05You're going to run in there, secure the gate,
01:06secure however you can, and stay in there.
01:08Dina, I can get bit a lot.
01:10You can't. Do as I say.
01:15Whenever I approach an action sequence,
01:17I start by connecting myself with that childish part of myself
01:22that likes to play act.
01:24I really love Steven Williams.
01:26He opens the floor in blocking.
01:28It's just like, go for it.
01:29It's very much, like, led by instinct.
01:32And so I start by imagining what I would do if I were Ellie.
01:37We have an incredible stunt team,
01:41and together we start shaping all the beats
01:44of what that action sequence is going to be like.
01:48And start talking about how to actually photograph those
01:51in a way that's dramatically compelling but also safe.
01:55Three, two, one, action!
01:58For us stunt people, getting hit and getting tackled to the ground
02:03is, like, the least hardest for us to do.
02:05It was mostly about the dance
02:08and making sure everyone was in the right spot.
02:11We came in to help with movements
02:14that couldn't be accomplished by practical stunt effects.
02:18So we come in to tie that in
02:21so the movements of our stalkers are more grounded.
02:24They wanted the infected to be able to tear back the cage.
02:34That was to find a gauge of copper
02:39that would match the actual metal rods
02:42that made up the structure of the fence.
02:44So it looks like one fence.
02:46To make that look seamless, that's pretty cool.
02:50And now we get to find out,
02:52as they're saved, that there's two other people
02:55that have entered Seattle
02:56in order to rescue Ellie and Dina.
02:59And we get to see one of them, which is Jesse,
03:01and he lets us know that he came here with Tommy.
03:04And now these three characters have reunited.
03:08And now they must survive together
03:10if they ever hope to escape this hellhole of a city.
03:22or maybe that's a beaver time.
03:25In that one time, let's see,
03:27this is super-te Farad,
03:29to give me a basic idea.
03:31Maybe in those of you are not alone?
03:40So he's having a perfect perspective.
03:41Maybe his pregunt is sir,
03:42and I have some point who's at the time.
03:44So when did any of you look up and
03:46what happened,
03:47you xem you like,
