00:00Hey everyone, Tim Schofield here and it's time to check out the brand new Galaxy S25 Edge,

00:04the very thin phone from Samsung. Kind of came out of nowhere. It is up for pre-order and it's

00:10a little expensive. However, Samsung is having a lot of trade-in deals. If you go through the

00:15link below, you get a $50 credit as well. So I'll link to all the best trade-in deals below for

00:19the S25 Edge. So in this video, we're going to take a quick look what comes in the box and then

00:23of course get some hands-on with this very thin phone that still does have flagship specs like

00:28the Snapdragon 8 Elite, a 6.7 inch 1440p 120 hertz display that's gorgeous. It does only have a

00:353,900 milliamp hour battery because it's so skinny. However, this would have been a perfect launch to

00:40use a silicon carbon battery, which is a newer tech that other phone manufacturers are using that just

00:45essentially adds more energy density. So you can have increased milliamp hours at the exact same

00:51size battery. Anyways, let's get into it, get some hands-on with the Edge. I'll also throw it up

00:55against some other phones to give you a frame of reference, other Samsung, maybe an iPhone as well.

01:00Let's get started. Here's the brand new Galaxy S25 Edge from Samsung. Opening it up, right away you'll

01:06notice the camera style is a little bit different. I don't know if they're going to stick with this

01:09camera style as opposed to just the separate circles. So we'll see if that will continue. Continuing

01:17through, let's see what we get inside here. A standard booklets and a USB Type-C to Type-C cable.

01:23And finally, just the Edge from Samsung. Let's peel off this front sticker.

01:30As I boot this up for the first time, the first thing I notice is the smaller size when going to

01:35hold on to it. Just a little bit less real estate. It's still very comfortable and enough to hold on

01:41to. But in the hand, you can already tell it just feels much thinner. Taking a closer look,

01:47SIM ejection to a microphone. USB Type-C port, one of the speakers. And then along the right side is

01:54where the power button volume rockers are. Yes, there is still a camera bump. We'll see if it rocks

01:58when we set it flat in just a second. Up towards the top, another microphone. And you do have another

02:04speaker there. And then along the left side, absolutely nothing. I believe this is your

02:08ultra-wideband 5G antenna. This is the titanium silver color. It does have a jet black and an icy

02:15blue. It is titanium because the sides are made of that titanium for more of a sturdy feel. And

02:22here's our camera system, dual cameras. The main camera sensor is 200 megapixels. So a lot of camera

02:29in a very thin style phone. And then an ultra-wide angle lens at 12 megapixels. So no telephoto zoom

02:36lens. However, that main sensor will crop in for 2x zoom. That is, you know, optical-like. It's still

02:42digital, but it should be very good quality. Anyways, let's run through the setup process. I'll

02:46just talk about anything that's noteworthy, and then we'll put it up against some phones. You do

02:49have face recognition or the in-display fingerprint scanner. All of your fingerprint data is secured by

02:55Knox. And all you have to do is just set it on down, lift it up, and continue to do so. I will say

03:02after typing and using this, getting haptic feedback, the vibration motor does feel very

03:07premium. Overall, I was a little worried because of how thin it is. Maybe it might feel a little

03:12harsh, but it really doesn't. It's kind of soft. It really does feel pretty good overall, and premium

03:19and flagship-like that you would expect out of a phone of this price. On top of Galaxy AI, you do get

03:25Gemini as your AI assistant. All right, we are all set up and ready to go with our Galaxy S25 Edge.

03:31Let's grab our S25 Plus and put it side-by-side because they have the exact same screen size at

03:386.7 inches. And very closely, you can tell the difference between the two. And like I said earlier,

03:44the in-hand feel is very noticeable. So you might look at this and say, oh, it doesn't look that big

03:49of a difference. But when you hold it in your hands, you can definitely feel the difference. Just a quick

03:54comparison with the iPhone 16 Pro Max as well. Again, a pretty large difference in terms of

04:02thickness. By the way, it is getting a little warm, probably where the processor is right now,

04:08because it is setting up and restoring a bunch of things, but it's not hot by any means. That's one

04:13thing I wanted to point out. Because it's so thin, I'm curious to see how thermals are going to be.

04:19Obviously, with less space, you can't have as big of a vapor chamber cooler. And finally, side-by-side,

04:24with the flagship, the S25 Ultra. Again, very noticeable difference. Again, you don't get an

04:30S Pen in this one. The display does look really good on the edge. I will say they did not include

04:36the anti-reflective coating. You can see right here, there's a prime example of how well that

04:41anti-reflective coating works on the S25 Ultra. So it makes it look better when you're out in the sun

04:47in bright lit scenarios and just have harsh lighting in the backdrop. Just it's very obvious how well it

04:52works. And one more look side-by-side between the S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, and Galaxy S25 Edge,

05:00just so you can sort of see how thin it actually is. Testing out the in-display fingerprint scanner

05:05on the S25 Edge. It does seem to be very fast and accurate. You do not need the screen on either

05:12to unlock the phone. And you can see right there, it's very quick and snappy. All right, time for what

05:17you're waiting for, the bend test. Here we go. One, two, three. I'm just kidding. I'm not going to do a

05:22bend test of this. It does feel very premium. It does feel very durable. I did get a lot of messages

05:28saying, hey, is it going to bend? I can't imagine it's going to with the titanium sides. You do also

05:34get the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on that front display. So again, just some more added peace of mind.

05:41Out of the box, make sure you go into display settings because I believe it's set to 1080p out

05:47of the box. So if you do want to take advantage of that 1440p resolution, you have to manually change

05:52it. 1080p and 720p even will save your battery life. Keep that in mind. And if we go to motion

05:59smoothness, it's set to adaptive. So you take advantage of that 120 hertz refresh rate, but you

06:03can bump it down to 60 hertz. That will also save your battery. Going into the camera application,

06:08there's just a couple of things I'd like to point out. Just snapping some quick pictures.

06:13Shutter speed seems to be very fast on the main ultra wide. And like I said, 2x zoom is cropped in,

06:21but it still should be very good quality. But I want to point out when you go up to 4x,

06:26there's a bit of a shutter lag, 4x, 10x. It is all digital zoom, but it takes a little bit longer

06:33to sort of snap that picture when you're outside that 2x. And even that one, okay, no, 2x is fine.

06:40But when you get up to anything past 2x, there's just a bit of a delay. Going into our pictures and

06:46pressing this icon up towards the top, you can use Galaxy AI to generatively edit. So let's zoom in

06:52just a little bit. You'll notice the reflection of my lights on the window. But if I circle, let's say,

06:57my logo right here, I can hit erase. And what it should do is get rid of that specific piece

07:04and edit it and generate the pieces behind it. So let's see. There we go. Actually, Samsung's

07:12really good at that. That's super impressive, even with kind of the beveled edge behind it.

07:18Flipping around to the front facing camera, this is 12 megapixels right there. So if I put my hand

07:23in front of my face, actually, that's a feature where it will start a countdown if it recognizes

07:29your palm. So now there's that picture of my palm in front of my face. This is actually going to

07:34probably not work. You probably needed to do about half your face so it could generate, you know,

07:39it has an idea of what to generate. But hey, why not? Let's just see how goofy I end up looking

07:45from this generated image. Okay. Obviously not me, but still considering my whole hand,

07:55it kind of pieced together my hair and forehead, what it saw, and then created a face based on that.

08:01So if we go to the view original, there's me with the hand, and then there is fake me.

08:07Of course, you have portrait mode and video mode. You can shoot all the way up to 8K 30 frames per

08:13second. So that's kind of crazy on a phone this thin that you're shooting 8K video. However,

08:19you can also go to pro video mode and switch over to 4K 120 frames per second. So a lot of really

08:27good video shooting modes. In a case you're wondering, a ton of other camera modes, including

08:31expert raw. And as promised, setting this down on the table, I want to point out that from these

08:38corners, it will rock a little bit. So yes, it is going to rock as expected, considering it

08:43just had one bump in the corner. So it is going to just shake a little bit and not completely sit

08:48flat. However, that brings me to a good point. I did get to check out some cases. And when you did

08:54have the case on it, maybe brought it to about the same thickness as say the Galaxy S25 plus without a

09:00case. So that's kind of a perk. Galaxy AI is on this phone, a ton of different things, interpreter,

09:07transcribing, note assist, photos, and a lot more as well. So Samsung will continue to add more and

09:14more of those features. This is One UI 7.0. So if you swipe up from the left corner, you get

09:19notifications. From the top right, you get all of these quick settings, etc. You can swipe down and

09:24swipe back and forth between them. You can combine them as well within settings. Don't worry. You also

09:29get a lot of nice additions to Android with motions and gestures here and multi-window features for swipe

09:36for split screen or pop-up view. Anyways, that is it from me on the Galaxy S25 Edge. The thinnest

09:43Galaxy S25 you can get. And in comparison to a lot of other phones, definitely the thinnest one out

09:59you know, with the weight, it being a lot lighter. And of course, you get a lot of flagship specs
