00:00You
00:30I
00:48Sitting in the passenger seat
00:52Straight ahead with both hands on the wheel and I hope we never get
01:00me
01:12You can see
01:22And shut me up with a kiss
01:30I don't know why you can't just put your lips on mine
01:37If you didn't have her and I didn't have him if you weren't so shy and me so innocent
01:44then I
01:47Could sleep tonight
01:52It's getting dark
02:00Sparks
02:30Oh
02:32This
02:58Can you make
03:02She
03:32Mr. Moore, everyone is waiting in the conference room. Okay, I'll be right in
03:49All right, let's talk about the HUD deal in Palm sounds great
03:52Let me pull up the market survey that was at the first one of the second the one by McCormick
03:56We need to deal with the HOA because of the access. Well, what's the holdup?
04:00They claim to be worried about liability, but it's probably because they feel that the parking lot is gonna look unsightly
04:06Well that turn is pretty busy a few hours. Well, that's the real issue
04:13Sounds good
04:31I
04:36College in law school, that was easy. Sure. I studied hard and got good grades
04:45Mostly
04:47That's not what I mean it was just easier to date but
04:52Things weren't very important
04:56It just didn't matter
05:00I
05:02Don't think I knew how easy I had
05:05Sometimes I just wish I could go back
05:10I always figured I'd never meet the one
05:13That I need to just accept a girl for who she was
05:17Somehow she would fit into life's routine
05:21Last time I actually started to believe it myself
05:25But even then deep down
05:28She wasn't
05:31It just wasn't meant to be
05:38Why do we care so much about our careers and if the other person fits into our big plan
05:44Why can't it be that you just meet that special girl talk laugh?
05:49Not worry about anything
05:52Sometimes I just want to lay in the cold grass out in a big field
05:56Look up at the clouds and be with that girl
06:00Wait for the stars to come out
06:03And fall into them with her
06:06Or sit on a beach staring out toward the ocean not feel like we have to say anything
06:14Where is that girl
06:18Where's the one
06:20I
06:23Hey Doug, it's me. Thanks for the invite. I've got plans
06:42When is it that the important things in life take hold
06:46When is it that the things that are actually important become irrelevant?
06:50And the small things become so significant and all-consuming
06:58Maybe I'm not meant to actually be this age or be an adult or whatever. It's cold. I
07:08Really don't understand this whole relationship thing
07:20You
07:42My friends tell me I need to get out more I
07:45I
07:48Tell them I'll get around to it eventually
07:53They think it's all pretty simple
07:57And maybe it really is
08:08Why not I don't know man, I just don't feel like going out
08:12Well, you know, we're not gonna see Rick and Veronica much after this move tomorrow, right? Yeah, I know we won't really be neighbors anymore
08:20Well, I'll just hang out, you know, it'll be cool I
08:28Haven't seen you out with anybody in a while anyway, so I don't even know why I try
08:33This again, I don't see what the problem is with going out and spending some time with your friends
08:38You know, maybe meet a pretty girl who knows it's one way to kill the evening. Anyway, sounds more like your kind of night. I'm
08:48Whatever happened to Emily
08:50Emma yeah, sure. Whatever. I don't know man. You don't know. Come on
08:57It just wasn't working out
08:59Why not?
09:00Call her on a Friday night to see if she wanted to go out and I get her voicemail instead
09:04Talk to her the next day and she's like, oh, hey, sorry. I was out with my friends
09:08Yeah, I mean
09:12Why couldn't you just be cool about it just say I'm bored and moving on anything I
09:20Hear you bro, I
09:22Don't know
09:25It's that's just the way it is sometimes, you know, I mean leave if you want, but just close the door on your way out
09:31Why doesn't that ever happen?
09:34Where's that girl?
09:38Oh
09:48This is really annoying yeah, so what do I do take please?
09:57What day is the auction Saturday if I can make it there
10:03You are so brave I don't know about all that
10:08I
10:11'm so happy to be part of such a good cause but the dinner getting all dressed up the mingling
10:16If just one person looks at my art and smiles, I'll be that much happier and that's why you're amazing
10:24So what time is your flight?
10:26Early in the morning. Oh
10:30Please come with me. Oh
10:33Rachel I'd love to but I've got so much work to do and I've got class on Friday and professor Hilborn
10:38It's not as accommodating as used to be. I
10:42Do know professor Hilborn. What are you doing?
10:46Rachel what are you doing?
11:08Oh
11:17Damn what is this a box of lead? Yeah, that's exactly what I did. I packed lead. I wouldn't be surprised
11:26Really
11:35And this this goes in the laundry room
11:39Okay
11:44This is the master closet, but you know, I'll just take it myself just I'll take it myself
11:54So, uh, what do you guys want to do today
11:58Cools whatever
12:01Well, we could uh, you know God the hell is this Veronica I thought this was going back to your mother
12:08Yeah, well Rick, um
12:11We need to figure out what we're doing tonight. I
12:14Don't care
12:18You could I get a pizza no, no, no, no, no, no, let's all go out somewhere I want to dress up
12:24Like where your heads at?
12:38You
13:08You
13:38You
14:02Guess what? I'm flying in tonight
14:09Never again
14:11Come on, it wasn't that bad easy for you to say you get to hang out here for a couple days. I
14:16Gotta get back to work on Monday
14:21It's true, you know, we appreciate the help it would have taken forever to unpack those boxes and with that forecast for rain
14:28It did take forever
14:35Now you look worse than he sounds
14:39Yeah
14:46Where you going I was just joking
15:08I
15:38Oh
15:52Oh my god, I'm so sorry
15:55But I spilled your drink I'm really sorry about yours, let me grab you another no, it's fine. It was just a soda
16:02Charlie Moore, I'm Allie Allie lasso. Yeah, I hope everyone's okay
16:08Didn't look too bad. I'm pretty sure everybody's okay. Yeah, I think you're right. I wonder what happened. I don't know
16:15I'm guessing they got distracted by something really pretty. I don't see anything down there
16:20Pretty sure they were looking up here
16:38Do you live around here? No, I'm here for a charity event. Well, my friend is I'm just tagging along. Oh, I see
16:47And she invited me at the last minute. I
16:51Didn't know there was one, you know, what charity event?
16:53Yeah, they auctioned some things to raise money for thyroid cancer, you know research stuff. You have to buy one of these to get in
17:00Well, is that the thing with the paintings in the lobby yesterday? Yeah bidding was downstairs
17:05Did your art do well, no, no, no, that wasn't mine. Trust me. I do not paint but
17:10My friend does and the speaker canceled. So they asked me to say something before bidding. You said a speech
17:16Well, no, wait, hold on
17:17I can't take credit for it because the speaker canceled at the last minute and so she kind of wrote me into saying something before
17:22Bidding started. So yeah like a speech. I
17:26Guess. Oh, I mean she was my favorite professor in college and now we're really good friends
17:31And I wanted to help any way I could and her art means a ton to her and she loves it more than anything
17:37And she was your professor like from undergrad. Mm-hmm. And for some of my doctoral coursework, too
17:45John maybe sit down some more
17:50So I was stressing out bad because I really don't like public speaking and I'm horrible at it, but you did it, right
17:56Yeah, but I didn't do well
17:58I got really embarrassed as soon as it was over. I ran up here to get away. I couldn't even eat the dinner
18:03Carrying a lot will do that to you
18:05Can I get either of you something?
18:08No, I'm good
18:09Are you sure?
18:11Do you want anything? Maybe a ginger ale? That sounds really good. Actually, I'll have one too. Thanks
18:17So, um, once you get your doctorate, are you gonna teach? I
18:21Don't know. I just I really like it and I'll figure something out. Did you ever take any philosophy classes?
18:28Yeah a really long time ago, though. I can't seem to remember anything besides
18:33Emmanuel Khan. Yeah. Well, he was a big one. Yes
18:37So what's your interest?
18:39My thesis is on aesthetics. Do you know aesthetics? No, not really
18:44It sounds like what makes things pretty kind of what makes art desirable why some people love certain things and others don't
18:53Yeah
18:54My thesis on objects in motion
18:57Inanimate but things that move
18:59like
19:00Like take for example a fighter jet, right? What makes it cool-looking?
19:06Now that I think about it, I don't know is it the power that it projects its speed its maneuverability
19:13Yeah, I guess so. So it's not so much its basic shape right more. So what its shape means is a function of its ability
19:20Well, I think I see what you mean so imagine how this applies more to everyday things more practical stuff like cars
19:28Yes, like cars
19:30Let's say we both see a car drive down there that we knew handled really great was really fast and really expensive
19:35When we both say it was awesome-looking regardless of seeing it actually go anywhere. Yeah, I guess it would
19:43Thanks
19:45So the question is does the appeal originate from the look we apply to its performance
19:50Is the form of the design dictated by the engineering which requires certain features?
19:55That's some deep stuff
19:57Like a big supercharger compresses air so that you can use more fuel to have a more powerful engine, right?
20:03All right. It's just an air compressor. Really? I mean, where could you put it?
20:06I mean, it would have to be bolted to the engine, but you could put it anywhere totally but they don't do that
20:12No, they use these big round flowing intakes that are beautiful and they're functional too and
20:18That's what the designers do. They exaggerate the form to accentuate the function
20:23Awesome, and I love it, but it's I'm going on a tangent and I'm sorry and that's what my thesis is about anyway
20:28What about you? What do you like? Well what I like doing what I do are two different things. Okay. Well, what do you do?
20:37I'm in-house legal counsel for a commercial builder a lawyer
20:42Oh, man, I'm sorry. All that meta stuff was pretty boring then, huh? I had no idea about any of it
20:48Well, what do you like I
20:51Liked law school. At least I was learning new things but
20:55The practice of law isn't that great. It's a lot of paperwork HUD contracts environmental assessments bank contracts permits
21:01Yeah, you've got to be an optimist about life to keep doing stuff like that. Hey, sorry, we're gonna take off. Hey
21:09Where's Doug? Oh, you never know
21:15Thank you so much for helping, of course
21:22I'm really hungry. Are you yeah, but I don't think they're serving anything here this late
21:28I've been here enough today. Anyway, do you want to go somewhere? Yeah
21:40So, is it a pretty drive
21:42If you go through the backcountry, yeah, especially in the south the leaves are beautiful and rainfall
21:47When you get into Florida you come across these little juice stands juice from the local farmers. How is it? Actually, I don't know
21:55You've never stopped
21:56By yourself. It seems like you're wasting your time. If you're with somebody else, it seems like you're wasting
22:00I don't know Charlie. I kind of like stuff like that
22:05Yeah
22:10You
22:13Well, this is the cool car Thanks, I like these little guys
22:20You know, sometimes on nights like this I like to just drive and listen sound of the road beneath the tires
22:27Just listening to different services below and my thoughts passing by
22:31Really mm-hmm
22:34Yeah, really you can leave it. Hey, I think I see the hotel we were at right? That's it, isn't it?
22:41Things like that are special
22:44That hotel with the restaurant on top of it little lights at the table
22:49New people to meet and spill your drink on that too. I'm sorry is your are you all dry now? Okay good
22:57So embarrassing I can't believe I did that
23:00It's okay, it's okay. I think it was worth it baby. Yeah, maybe
23:08It didn't grab me right away really
23:10but when he was standing there in the rain, just
23:14Just staring at her. Oh, yes when she sat there staring back at him from inside the car. I mean
23:21That was horrible. I just I just don't know. No, I know exactly what you mean
23:25Was their faces or something and all that rain
23:38Thanks
23:41When it was all over I sat there alone on my couch
23:46Look down at the remote and I started all over again
23:50You did
23:52That's funny because um, I did the same thing really yeah, I
23:58Mean, I feel like you have to watch that movie by yourself to really get it. I
24:03Only watched those two times and I love it, but I can't bring myself to watch it again
24:09The second time I watched it. I actually thought she was going to get out of the truck and run through the rain back to him
24:16That would have been cool. No
24:22I
24:29Think so
24:33What's this for I don't know I guess something just feels right
24:53I
24:55Okay, what you're gonna dance with me I really don't like to dance
25:22You
25:52You
26:22You
26:52You
27:15Have you ever been to Manhattan?
27:17No
27:18Well, the city has its moments, of course, it's amazing and there's lots of great stuff there
27:23But the thing I miss the most is the sunrise. You never get to see the sunrise buildings block everything. It's really suffocating
27:30I have to close my blinds every single morning in my office or else I just get blasted by it. Are you serious?
27:38I guess sometimes you don't know what you have till it's gone. I wonder why you didn't appreciate it when it was there
27:44Huh
27:47Do you think we have time for another moment or two, what do you mean?
27:51I've been to the beach out here a few times back when I was a kid. Mm-hmm should be practically empty right now
27:56It's a nice place
27:58Mm-hmm. Yeah, I would love to do that. That sounds so fun. Really? Yes. Thank you
28:13I
28:38Was so happy to see this
28:43It's more than that
28:46It's really pretty
28:57This beach looks nice, but looks aren't everything. Absolutely
29:13I
29:16Really love to take all
29:19Really? Yeah, I think I'll take him for granted probably
29:23Yeah, they just want to do their little jobs
29:26Live like everything else. They're a lot like us, you know
29:32They can eat everything and adapt to anything and I read that they are found on every continent on earth even Antarctica
29:40But you know, it's really cool
29:42What once I meet that special friend
29:49And they're good little flyers plus they're kind of cute too
29:56Wonder how much of this I'll remember tomorrow
30:01I wish it wasn't
30:08I forgot you're helping friends
30:12It's not that yeah
30:16Please tell me
30:19This is one of those things you don't say to a stranger
30:24Stranger what I care, but I really do
30:32You have found somebody that makes you feel like everything in your life just fell right into place
30:39You do don't you
30:42I
30:47Knew we're at the restaurant that we only had one night
30:54I could fall into my dreams right here anywhere
31:12You
31:29My flight leaves in two hours, that's what I'm gonna head back
31:35How long is the drive
31:38Five hours if I don't stop
31:41That's not so bad
31:44Should have flown goes for five hours. I'll just be thinking about you or train myself
32:10I
32:18Can't forget to water the orchids when we get home. Oh and I recorded our favorite movie so we have to watch that together
32:25Okay
32:28Sir
32:31Mr. Moore
32:40You
33:11You
33:14Hey
33:16You should stop at one of those aren't you spaces yeah, I should probably just get back
33:22Besides I don't have anyone to share it with
33:25Do you like long drives?
33:27sometimes I
33:30Think I know what you mean
33:34Part of me is motivated like go do stuff help friends move try to be spontaneous
33:41But then there's the other part that worries a lot about life
33:46My grandfather was a lawyer for most of his life and then he got older and couldn't hang on to his memory anymore
33:51My dad was a lawyer too, but he hated it
33:55He figured if he ended up like his dad, at least he'd forget what a boring job. He wasted his life on
34:00But he didn't want to waste it or forget the good things
34:04One summer he comes home with this really expensive camera
34:08Coincidentally the firm got into his hours that week
34:11Eventually, he got laid off
34:13He could have sold it. He should have sold a lot of things and he did
34:17But he didn't sell that camera
34:20He'd go out into the country and photograph waterfalls and things like that
34:24He joked about going nuts like his dad did
34:26But I knew it really scared him
34:29He was determined to do something about it and he did
34:32I
34:33Don't hate my job like my dad did I already have the free time to go out of my way to see things a legal
34:39symposium in Seattle from retreating things
34:42Help friends move, you know
34:45It's kind of surprising why because when I first met you I figured you were married to your job I
34:53Feel like I think about it more than I do it when I do it I think about my dad
34:59It's like a responsibility that just came built into my life
35:03Whatever he got out of it. It's different for me
35:07Maybe that's because you don't have somebody to share it with. Yeah
35:12Maybe is that why you watch the sunrise with me for your dad?
35:20That was just for me
35:22You
35:27We should probably get going though, I don't want you to miss your flight
35:52You
36:13Sorry for getting standing in the car, it's totally worth it
36:18You
36:20You really enjoyed watching the sunrise
36:24Thank you so much for being so open
36:27I don't think most people would have said the things you said
36:31Most people wouldn't have you to make them feel the way that you make me feel
36:40In a really great
36:47I
37:17You
37:47You
38:17I
38:31Hold on
38:39Hey here, oh, it's not really worth anything you didn't have to
38:47It's worth everything has memories
38:52You never gave me your phone number oh, oh put in yours
38:58You have to send me a text I will I'm so sorry I have to go
39:17You
39:21One night wasn't enough
39:27A lifetime wouldn't be enough
39:47You
40:17You
40:20Hey
40:23Hey
40:28What about your flight
40:34I don't know what to say
40:39See you'll be with
40:47I'll pull over the car and shut you up with a kiss
41:05Don't care about him and you really try
41:17I
41:47I
42:02Upon a time I told my first secret to the boy who lived next door
42:09Every day since he's waited on the park bench wants to share a little more
42:17Strawberry ice cream chase and not a fire
42:22When I couldn't fall asleep I sneak up to the window looking for his bedroom
42:27I
42:46Ready for you in the conference room
42:58One day you ask a thousand questions about a girl you really like
43:05You said you need a little inspiration and ask for my advice
43:14Hey one sec
43:18Hey here
43:21It's not really worth anything you didn't have to it has memories now
43:26It's worth everything this bug on your face

43:57Firefly Eagle
44:11I was just joking. Come on
44:19I gotta go
44:26I
44:34Was just joking
