00:00Dubai chocolate has become a huge viral trend over the last year, so much so that it's even

00:06led to global shortages of pistachios. Now it was started on TikTok where social media users

00:12did reviews on the chocolate which obviously originated from Dubai, Dubai Chocolatier,

00:17and it kind of snowballed from there with millions of views, so much so that even myself who's not

00:22on TikTok and isn't down with the kids, even I've heard of it, even I couldn't avoid it,

00:26it's now been picked up by all the kind of the major brands and major chocolatiers and you can

00:31pick it up in supermarkets everywhere, but yeah I wanted to see what all the fuss was about,

00:36so I popped two Bakerelli's in Leon Solent, so they do their own version of it, it's all homemade,

00:42they make it there, as I think you can agree it looks beautiful, I think I'm actually not looking

00:48forward to destroying it, I feel a bit bad about it, but needs must, needs must, I'm looking forward

00:52to trying it. For those of you that aren't aware what Dubai chocolate is, it's an Italian

00:56pistachio cream, mixed in with naffa pastry, so you've got kind of shards of pastry in there

01:00to give a bit of texture, a bit of crunch, then encased in milk chocolate, Belgian milk

01:05chocolate, and then cut off with some gold dust, edible gold dust on the outside, so one

01:11of the main things that kind of made it go viral was the sound, that crunchy sound when

01:15you kind of cut into it for the first time, so let's have a look.

01:18Well, it looks and smells delicious, smells really indulgent, as you'd expect. Let's give

01:33a go, see what it's like. You can probably hear the crunch from here, with that naffa pastry

01:48going through it. Mmm. If you realise, first means first, it's probably not meant to be the

01:54style of the show, but the chocolate is delicious, really nice, really silky and smooth, and really,

02:01really sweet. I'm going to try the pistachio filling just on its own, just to see what's

02:10that like without the chocolate. Mmm. It's nice and good. It's not overly sweet, the sweetness

02:28really just comes from the chocolate, mainly. But the pistachio cream is really silky, and

02:33obviously you get that crunch and that texture from the naffa pastry. And then, kind of, after

02:40that, you kind of get the pistachio notes coming through, and the nuttiness and earthiness of

02:44it, which overall then makes it like a, gives it a really, really good balance, and really,

02:49really delicious. Yeah, obviously I was expecting, kind of, when you think of Dubai chocolate, even

02:55without tasting it, it's going to be indulgent, it's going to be decadent, and it was all those

03:00things, absolutely. But it was, it was delicious, you could see why it's got so popular. As I

03:04say, it's not, not, not overly sweet, it's just really nice and balanced sweetness from the

03:08chocolate, and that, um, nuttiness from the pistachio, which, again, obviously a little bit

03:12of sweetness there as well, and then that crunch from the pistachio. Yeah, you can certainly see

03:16why it's gotten so popular. I'd say I couldn't eat the whole thing, but that would be just me

03:22trying to learn respectful. Um, I could quite easily sit here and finish it all off right now, but I

03:27won't put it on camera, just to save my shame. I'll do that later. So yeah, first time I've

03:32tried Dubai chocolate, I'd definitely, definitely recommend it. Obviously I've got mine from

03:36Bakarelli's in Leon, Solon, but lots of places do them now, including just going down to like

03:41supermarkets and the bigger chains do it, but I'd definitely recommend this one, obviously

03:44it's home baked at Bakarelli's. This is the medium size, so it's £17.95 for this one, but

03:49they do do a small one, which is £4.95, kind of good for one person. But even if that's, this isn't

03:54big enough for you, they do even do a 400 grand one, which is £24.95. But yeah, the

04:00first time I've tried it, definitely positive, definitely something I'd add again. I recommend

04:05you give it a try as well.
