00:00come in and win a feature race at the first attempt since Lando Norris in 2018 did it with the same

00:08team and was also a McLaren jr just like Lando Norris did at Bahrain as well. The grid is set

00:16we are in to the countdown we do have a little bit of a delayed start the formation lap will start

00:23at 19 minutes past six so that is in just over three minutes time Bruno Michel has seen many a

00:31good race around here celebrated 200 races for this championship which has seen many drivers go on

00:39all the way to the top tier and we are staring at many more that could do so 10 that are supported

00:46by formula one teams there is one of them the number four car Arvid Lindblad the youngest

00:52point scorer in formula two let's see what he can do well apologies to those of you experiencing

01:01any sound issues any technical problems but a warm welcome to you wherever you are watching from

01:08this is round three of the formula two championship this is our sprint race we have 20 laps coming up

01:14today we have reversed the top 10 how they qualified yesterday for this race that means

01:21Richard Vachot will start on pole position alongside Gabriele Mini it was due to be Roman

01:27Stanek starting on pole position but he has taken a three-place grid drop for impeding Alex Dunne

01:34Richard Vachot could now go and take the chequered flag first for a second time in a row in a sprint

01:39race he did pick up a post-race penalty for a technical non-conformity here last year let's

01:44see if he can go and win once again here at Saudi Arabia this is round three of the championship

01:50we celebrated 200 races in formula two just a few days ago making history by crowning Alex Dunne the

01:57first Irish driver to win in formula two will we celebrate even more history today can we put

02:04another new driver onto the top step of the podium Gabriele Mini will be certainly hoping

02:09he can do that likewise Arvid Lindblad who starts on the third row points wise we had points to the

02:15top eight in this race 10 points going to your winner and then one point to eight Leonardo

02:20Fornaroli is our championship leader he's the reigning formula three champion you just saw him

02:24in view he is one of two drivers who has been on the podium twice so far he's on 26 points

02:31Alex Dunne on 25 Luke Browning on 25 Pepe Marti on 23 Richard Vachot is then on 21 points

02:38Richard Vachot took the championship lead in the sprint race at Bahrain last week let's see if he

02:45can go and do so again today if he wins this sprint race he will put himself in a good position to do

02:51that the grid is almost set it'll be 20 laps of racing 45 minutes plus a lap if that comes first

02:58there are two compounds of tire in formula two if you are new to the championship we have this

03:03yellow sidewall medium tire and then the purple sidewall super soft tire in this race the sprint

03:10race there is no compulsory pit stop so we are likely to see most of the drivers use this medium

03:16yellow sidewall tire throughout the duration of this race and then tomorrow we have the longer

03:23feature race that is coming up that will be 28 laps in total where they are required to make a

03:29compulsory pit stop and use both compound of tire however however if you weren't with us last week

03:37in the sprint race at Bahrain when the safety car came out when Max Esteson came to a stop

03:44at turn 11 we saw drivers coming into the pits with five laps to go putting on the quicker

03:50compound of tire and Orly Goethe went around the outside of two drivers at turn 12 yes he did

03:55if you don't believe me go back and watch the replays and see it from yourself he set the

03:59fastest lap and he came through from outside of the top 10 to finish fourth and set the fastest

04:04lap in the process so there could there could very well be pit stops in this race there could

04:09be drivers coming from outside the top 10 taking fastest lap and scoring points it's never over

04:15until it's over this is a very unpredictable championship we have had three different

04:21drivers take pole position in as many rounds so far we have had plenty of different drivers on

04:27the podium already it is a very difficult championship to call my name's Chris McCarthy

04:33a pleasure to have your company Alex Brundle will be with us throughout the race as well here we can

04:38see the drivers now on the formation lap this their chance to get the tires up to speed after

04:45one lap is complete they will have the use of DRS there are three DRS zones around this circuit

04:52we're coming up to the first one of them on the exit of turn 17 that is when we will see the DRS

05:01detection zone one and through turns 19 to 22 that's when we will see DRS in use for the first

05:09time through turn 19 to turn 22 on lap two of the race then through turns 24 to turn 27 for the

05:17second time and then down through turn 27 to turn one for the third time on lap two if you're within

05:26one second of the driver ahead you can use

05:52here last year made the move on Paul Aron on lap eight of the race going into turn one there he is

06:07can he go and take that checkered flag first once again he'll have Gabriele Mini

06:12trying to stop him Pepe Martin will be flying with confidence after taking that win from 11th

06:19on the grid last time Roman Stanek have that three-place grid job he is on row two and then

06:26we've got the Flying Irishman Alex Don on row three Arvid Lindblad alongside him as well watch

06:31for Luke Browning as well two podiums for him he is only one of two drivers to do that so far he is

06:38in fine form the Williams Academy driver Leo Fornaroli next along and then it's Victor Martins

06:44and Jack Crawford on row five on the grid they're making their way up towards us now

06:50round three of the championship this is this is our sprint race the lowest scoring race

06:5610 points go to your winner and then one point to the driver in eighth position we do give a

07:02point to the driver with the fastest lap if they are in the top 10 positions it looks like we are

07:10almost set and ready to go towards the back John Bennett lost his fastest lap in qualifying due

07:17to the fact he did bring out the red flag after an incident when he crashed coming out of turn 13

07:24that meant that he would lose his fastest lap and thus he was brought to the back of the field

07:32well nerves rising on the grid everyone now getting themselves in to position we are almost

07:40ready to go racing here at Jeddah for the sprint race there is the green flag at the back of the

07:47field to the right of screen Gabriele Mini to the left your pole sitter Richard Vachaur and we are

07:55go for the sprint race here at Jeddah Vachaur leading us down towards the first corner

08:00great start there for Pepe Marti and he's going to go around the outside of Gabriele Mini and a

08:05change for P2 straight away Pepe Marti into second it looked like a spinner at the back of the field

08:11but a change for second straight away Marti going into second and almost a lock up there that was

08:17the seven of Browning trying to go down the inside of Dunn as they make their way through

08:22the first section the two Williams Academy cars there of Martins and Browning side by side in

08:29the yellow Invicta that is Leo Fornaroli in the middle of that as well as they make their way

08:34through out of the first sector great racing to kick us off here on the first lap it is for sure

08:41leading Marti leading Mini Limblad is in fourth then Stanek is next along ahead of Dunn Fornaroli

08:48Martins Browning and Jack Crawford next as they head through the second sector here on the first

08:55lap they're just settling in now don't forget DRS opens on the second lap of racing oh well we said

09:03there was a spinner at the back of the field it is the number 21 who has spun unfortunately

09:10and that is Kian Shields who has gone so Kian Shields is round at the back of the field we may

09:17see a stoppage in the race given where Kian Shields was but for now they are all away racing

09:24I hear that his car is being pushed away so we may stay racing for now Richard for sure certainly

09:31is leading us down towards turn 27 in the background in the Red Bull livery Arvid Limblad

09:37going side by side there with Gabriele Mini these two have raced each other plenty of times before

09:43and there we can see Kian Shields being pushed away double yellow flag so as they come down

09:49towards the first corner Richard for sure there is going to bring the speed down towards the

09:56first corner and a double yellow flag there as the field is now brought down to a slow pace

10:06and Alex Brundle we can get your thoughts as you are watching on for that first lap absolutely so

10:12hello everybody second lap of the Formula 2 sprint race and what a start we had we do have a car

10:18off in the runoff area is Kian Shields that has brought out this double waved yellow flag

10:25and the virtual safety car has been deployed drivers limited in their speed

10:30by this virtual safety car but they do not form up behind the course vehicle let's have a look at

10:35that start again Richard for sure getting away well from the left hand side of your screen

10:39drivers right and it was actually Gabriele Mini who was under pressure down towards turn one Pepe

10:44Marti in the red bull livery machine making his way around the outside and there you can see the

10:48incident for Shields they tried to push him clear onto the runoff area but still needing a recovery

10:56for that car there's a look at it again it's Roman Stanek in the yellow Invicta who's trying to make

11:01his way through decent start for him and carbon fiber all over the road down towards turn one an

11:08eventful start Chris it really was Kian Shields sadly his race coming to an early stop here we

11:13look back at it again great move around the outside there for Pepe Marti it really was you

11:19see Shields resting up against the barrier in the background and he'll have another go tomorrow

11:26from 21st on the grid where he started this one shame for Shields in what's not been the strongest

11:34weekend for him so far virtual safety car still deployed it does not delay the application of

11:40the DRS to this 20 lap sprint race most if not all in fact all drivers on the medium compound tire

11:48it's a relatively low degradation circuit so we're looking at a flat out race to the finish here

11:52and a decent amount of points available for those towards the front there certainly is Richard

11:59Vachot made a good start out front we've had Pepe Marti take second place away from Mini

12:06Limblad has gone from P6 to P4 so the two Red Bull juniors the cars on the attack straight

12:12away Stanek in the yellow and Victor is there in P5 done next and then the last of the point

12:18scorers so far Fornaroli and Martin's MP just watching on there their driver Vachot currently

12:25leading the way so far but Marti he drove a great sprint race last time showing very good overtaking

12:31Alex and he'll want to get on the move straight away absolutely so Marti third on the grid in this

12:37reverse grid race as you correctly said at the top of the broadcast Chris top 10 reversed in this one

12:43before we go racing in grid order tomorrow for the feature race with the mandatory pit stops

12:48and everything that goes with it teams need to be right in touch with their drivers though here

12:53because with the field so tightly packed getting it absolutely right on the restart is going to be

12:58worth positions and especially with Marti in a fighting kind of mood Formula 2's most experienced

13:04driver is going to have to be fast on the button and this this is where we can see changes as well

13:09Alex when VSC is ending you've got to be on it here with the field so tightly packed so this is

13:13where it is key VSC is ending there is green flag you cannot get caught out by this and Richard

13:19Vachot looks like he was quick to get his foot down on the accelerator we are back green here at

13:25Jeddah in Formula 2 in the sprint race look at the battle for third place already Arvid Limblad

13:30was quick to respond and he's on the attack ahead of Gabriele Mini Limblad versus Mini in towards

13:38turn 22 Mini likewise though as we're into a DRS zone is right behind Pepe Marti so we've got a

13:45three-way battle going on the flaps are open and Limblad has found a gap on the inside of Gabriele

13:51Mini the young Campos racing driver goes down the inside into turn 27 and that's a change for third

13:57place Alex DRS immediately available as a result of that being a virtual safety car the lap had

14:03passed and so the flaps are open and Mini fancies it go down the outside back at Limblad as they

14:08head down towards turn one and he's got the tow from Pepe Marti as well who's trying to get the

14:13tow from Vachot and he's trying to get the lead from Vachot round the outside Pepe Marti wheel

14:18with Richard Vachot and a change for the lead great driving from Pepe Marti he hits the front

14:24of the sprint race Mini across the runoff area in two forced to cede the position and now he's

14:28going to be under pressure from the man who took a penalty into this race and will take a penalty

14:32into the race tomorrow Roman Stanek needs to make moves here you've also got Leonardo Fornaroli look

14:38Formula 2 championship leader Formula 3 champion sitting in seventh place in the points at the

14:43moment trying to gather the absolute maximum that he can from this race a couple of positions behind

14:49Arvid Limblad great driving from him into P3 and as you correctly said the Invictus

14:54looking good as well Roman Stanek is there in P5 and then we've got Alex Dunn as well the two

15:01Williams Academy cars right together in P8 and P9 the ART are Victor Martins and then Browning in

15:08P9 squabbling over the last points available let's look back at this move Alex Marti around

15:14the outside of Vachot not quite able to get all the way around in the first part of the chicane

15:21you can see the move in the background as well with Mini having to take to the runoff area then

15:26in the second part Marti manages to shovel Vachot a little bit wider but yeah let's have a look at

15:34that move Gabriele Mini taking to the runoff area trying to cling on to the position from Arvid

15:40Limblad and he's forced to lift out of a throttle and keep hold of it and it's put him under pressure

15:45from Roman Stanek Limblad getting his elbows out there on Mini and Mini having to take evasive

15:52action and it's put him under pressure under threat here Roman Stanek in DRS are we going to

15:58see a change for the lead once more for sure once his lead back from Pepe Marti is he going to pay

16:03that move back to him around the outside yes he is Pepe Marti trying to hold strong but Vachot

16:08aggressive in his approach and he takes the lead back from Pepe Marti once more you've got one of

16:14those well I've got one of them in me too says Richard Vachot snatches the position back he was

16:18within the DRS and critically now has given Marti the attentions of his teammate Arvid Limblad who's

16:24having a storming weekend in the Campos great driving from Vachot and now it's going to be

16:29Campos on Campos Marti versus Limblad the experience of Marti versus Limblad who's come

16:37into this championship from Formula 3 Mini is next in queue Stanek next and then we've got

16:44the new feature race winner of Dunn lining up he's yet to make his move in this race here's

16:48a replay of that move for sure skips it around the outside and has to be a little bit more

16:53robust than Marti was in the other direction lumpy curb out there on the outside of turn two

16:59and Limblad actually doing well in invasive action there through the exit of turn two

17:04to keep out of the side of his teammate and look to the left hand side of screen for sure

17:08with that move how well he executed it he's almost broken DRS it's eight tenths of a second

17:14Marti using DRS through the first zone has just closed the gap back down to seven tenths of a

17:19second but Vachot made such a good move that he's almost broken DRS we pick up Leo Fornaroli

17:26in P7 and they're all right together here as we come back down to turn 27 it's a game of survival

17:32here Chris through those first 20 corners of the lap yep I said it 20 corners before they ever see

17:38a DRS zone so if you can stay with the driver ahead of you then you just get into the DRS again

17:45through three long straights and you're able to stay close and potentially make a move if you fall

17:50out in the dirty air then it's going to be you who's under pressure down to one Jack Crawford

17:55just poking out there he is trying to line up Victor Martins he will start from pole position

18:01tomorrow and as you mentioned Alex we're into those 20 corners now about a quarter of the way

18:06through before we're going to hit the DRS Crawford has had a steady start to this race he knows

18:12there's big points available for him tomorrow we go to Grand Prix style points tomorrow so he can

18:17go for full 25 tomorrow we're looking for a clean race today but there's big opportunity available

18:22today for sure just clearing the DRS there on lap six most drivers got around 17 or 18 laps in

18:29in practice on this exact same specification of tyre they're about 1.5 seconds slower at the end

18:34of practice than they were at the beginning although some drivers with the fuel load coming

18:40down still managing to improve sectors and laps so it's not a high degradation circuit here there's

18:46low energy through the tarmac it's all about driver error and making it work lap on lap

18:52putting those sectors together and now it looks like Verschuur has done it when it matters another

18:57purple first sector for the Dutchman and a purple middle to go with it quickly ousted by Limblad

19:03yeah Limblad is selling good sectors some drivers may be just thinking long term here as you

19:10mentioned there Alex there's a long way to go in this race and battling is not going to do those

19:15tyres any good Crawford looks like a move is coming very soon from him wait for it there we go

19:21and that's a sign that Crawford is becoming slightly impatient in that ninth place as he

19:27just looked down the inside there of Victor Martins down the start finish straight we go

19:33and Crawford right behind Victor Martins as a DRS usage on lap one has been noted

19:41that message coming through from race control normally DRS usage would be would be blocked

19:46by the system so interesting to see that one play out i'm sure i would have thought that

19:52will be till after the race before we get a true feeling on on that one Verschuur has managed to

19:58clear away hasn't he from Marty and now the battle between the two Red Bull juniors behind him there

20:05the gap as you can see it live as they rest up against that outside kerb in turn 10 and 11 and

20:12snake their way again through the first sector you mentioned Jack Crawford it's been a much

20:16stronger weekend this for Dams after a really difficult start to the year where neither driver

20:21yet has failed to score in the championship but they must look much stronger in terms of both

20:25qualifying and race pace here in Jeddah yeah they they really are they're using the experience of

20:31their drivers it's the last time that the experienced drivers will get to use that advantage

20:37over the rookie drivers before we get into our European leg of the season now where their Formula

20:443 graduates will have raced before on their route to Formula 2 round towards turn 22 and we watch

20:52Jack Crawford now chasing down Victor Martins who's right behind Leo Fornaroli as well he's

20:59piling the pressure on Fornaroli these guys breaking clear of Browning and the battle for

21:05second is intensifying here likewise the battle for P4 Mini no longer in DRS of Arvid Lindblad

21:12looks vulnerable here in fourth place Alex yeah Mini's going to be the driver under pressure as

21:17the DRS opens for the Invicta behind Stanek having a look at Mini and the two Red Bull drivers

21:24dueling they are into turn one and Stanek trying to get down the inside of Mini as well Pepe Marti

21:30defending Mini defending as well out of turn two we track this battle you've got the pink Alpine

21:36livery of Mini the yellow Invicta of Stanek and then the papaya of Dunn coming through turn

21:42four how long can Mini hold off the challenges of Stanek and Dunn when will Dunn make his first move

21:48on this fight he's just fallen away there hasn't he Gabriele from the back of Lindblad

21:53Marti and he uh battling it looks like Lindblad's made the move is that a wide moment then for Marti

21:58it was Pepe Marti had gone wide there uh and that means Lindblad has inherited second place

22:04it's dropped Pepe Marti into the clutches of Gabriele Mini so we have a change for P2 Arvid

22:12Lindblad released into second place and he's got a buffer over Pepe Marti of 1.2 seconds so

22:20change for P2 Arvid Lindblad can now focus on trying to close that gap down on Richard Vachon

22:25and Gabriele Mini will be thinking thank you very much I'll have that DRS to keep me out of trouble

22:31from Roman Stanek behind let's have a look at it then I'm imagining this is going to be the moment

22:35uh for Marti he's gone a long way off there so uh earlier on I would have thought that is in the

22:41middle of turns eight and nine he may well have lost a rear it's not flat out uh in a Formula 2

22:46car it is a relatively generous lift there and they're balancing the cars all the way through so

22:53uh interesting stuff Marti losing that position look at this now and he's gone wide again Pepe

22:58Marti wide again and that's allowed Gabriele Mini through into third place Pepe Marti suffering out

23:05there on this lap he's lost two places he's now off the podium but a chance to use DRS to fight

23:11back he goes straight back into third and now Mini trying to get back down the inside but he's going

23:16to lose a place Roman Stanek fighting with Mini who cuts the corner and now keeps the position

23:21Roman Stanek left in fifth place it's all going off out there Pepe Marti is in third place for now

23:28but this battle is going to continue oh Mini dicing with a penalty there I think it'll be

23:34interesting to see if the team get over the radio to him and ask him to give that position back they

23:40look relatively alongside as they went down towards the apex of turn one interesting what they now

23:45choose to do Roman Stanek within his rights of course uh to be there and uh Gabriele Mini going

23:51to be under pressure is it going to be new because Stanek looking like he's got the nose underneath

23:56Mini as they make their way down through turn 13 Mini was noted earlier in the race for forcing

24:02another driver off in Limblad at turn one so has to be careful let's watch it back Alex yeah let's

24:08have a look at it again you've got Mini under pressure from Marti behind he was strangely wide

24:14in the final corner now let's look at take a look for me Stanek is alongside there and has claimed

24:20that corner um so I think Mini will either have to give that one back or the stewards may well

24:25look at it yeah agree Mini has gone wide here's an on-board view yeah Marti it takes the DRS

24:33uh I wonder if he that we've seen so many DRS games there in the final corner over the years

24:40and I wonder if he knows that the DRS down the front straight is powerful enough Stanek to the

24:44inside of Mini though once more Stanek makes his move on Mini that's been a long time coming but

24:49as you said DRS games Mini now has the advantage down the start finish straight no flap open for

24:56Stanek but here comes Mini and he's gonna go by but Dunn to the far right hand side of screen

25:02will take the inside line on Stanek and the inside line on Mini almost contact between the pair and

25:09it's a familiar sight Mini goes wide Dunn is going to take the place and now Dunn will get down the

25:15inside and take people yeah Mini having to get out of that one and it's exactly as we surmise

25:20isn't it that was such a clear let through on the apex of the final corner because they all know

25:26that the uh that the front straight DRS is strong enough that you can power back through on your way

25:32down to T1 Alex Dunn great move from him three wide into the first corner you wouldn't think

25:39that he's just come up from Formula 3 getting his elbows out Mini likewise but Alex Dunn

25:44is settling into Formula 2 very quickly and showing the confidence of a feature race winner

25:50mounted a couple of races at the end of last year Gabriele Mini but this is first full season

25:55for the uh the Alpine Academy driver in the Formula 2 championship ever a front runner

26:01brilliant through last year's Formula 3 season took to a Formula 2 car brilliantly as well

26:06in a couple of races he did do we're seeing some great racing from him but he looks to be the driver

26:11under pressure the Invicta with the DRS once more thinking uh better of it down towards turn 22

26:17because he knows he's got a lot of drag reduction and a lot of big braking zones to get the move

26:21done Gabriele Mini is just starting to struggle out there isn't he Roman Stanek is right there

26:27then we've got Leo Fornaroli and then we've got Jack Crawford in P8 this is not over for Mini

26:35because they are starting to queue up behind here we go down the start finish straight once more

26:41Roman Stanek is he going to make another attempt of a move to get by Gabriele Mini, Mini just

26:47holding on to DRS on Alex Dunn on to lap 11 of 20 Stanek closing in but not quite close enough

26:54that time just peeking out in the background was the seven of Browning the two Williams Academy

27:00cars let's watch back a little bit further this was the move we saw Alex Dunn make yeah Mini there

27:07catching Dunn out slightly I think by by darting out sometimes you're focused so much on the driver

27:13ahead of you that actually you forget that there's you're in a pack of drivers potentially

27:18attacking you from behind but everybody got through there just fine and Dunn eventually

27:24taking taking the position coming out ahead incident in turn two involving Mini and Stanek

27:30leaving the track and gaining an advantage where Mini retains the position is going to be is going

27:36to be noted so far second phase is under investigation and then they'll decide if

27:40there's any penalty to be given we'll keep an eye on that one now just and while we've been watching

27:46all of this Limblad has been setting purple sectors and the gap is just starting to come down

27:52it's 1.7 seconds however Vachon is responding on this lap he's done a purple first sector we'll

27:59keep an eye on it but look to the left hand side of screen 1.6 seconds there is a great head-to-head

28:05going on out front if Limblad can get within one second we could see a fight going on but

28:11we're seeing a great fight here in terms of the lower score lower scoring points in this race

28:17and this is the continuing battle between Stanek and Gabriele Mini into the final corner

28:23Limblad did a really good lap last time around took a couple of tenths out of Vachon as you say

28:28but Vachon has been able to respond this time around slightly quicker from him only

28:34actually bled four tenths again to Arvid Limblad so that gap coming down and into turn one that is

28:42Roman Stanek down the inside and Gabriele Mini going right Roman Stanek though will claim the

28:49position good move from Stanek went down the inside of Gabriele Mini and he is going to go

28:54through into fifth position yeah it was a matter of time wasn't it Mini fought valiantly the problem

29:00he's got is he's got a pack all the way down to 12th within DRS range now so if Stanek manages to

29:07get away it's actually important lap for Mini not to get shuffled too much and try and cling on lasso

29:13the airbox if he can of Roman Stanek and stay in the action otherwise he's going to be under pressure

29:19from all of the drivers in the key behind confirmation of Arvid Limblad doing the fastest

29:24lap last time four tenths quicker as Alex said but for sure is responding on this lap and he's

29:30just done the fastest first sector great shot this you can see how close they have to go to

29:36push the limits and get those fastest sectors and we are watching back now uh Leo Fornaroli

29:42who will be next to try and pass Gabriele Mini the two that fought for the Formula 3 title all

29:48the way into the final corner of the final lap last season Jack Crawford right there behind as

29:55well Crawford fifth in the championship last year stays with Dams uh through into this year

30:01the American driver connected uh to the Aston Martin Academy trying to make progress through

30:08the field got a Formula 3 champion in front of him and the points leader of the series at the

30:12moment by a princely point from several drivers behind them one of which is a little bit further

30:18up the road you've got a great championship battle shaping up in Formula 2 and a great battle then

30:22down towards turn one Chris and Mini looks like he's going to fight back on Stanek Crawford's

30:27going to make his move on Fornaroli two by two they go into turn one Mini around the outside of

30:33Stanek but going wide through turn two Stanek will hold on to P5 Fornaroli holds on to P7

30:41several of them legitimate avoidances but Gabriele Mini is rather frequenting the runoff area isn't

30:47he in turn in turn two do you come here often well that is what the marshals are going to be

30:51saying on the exit of three it's uh becoming a regular occurrence isn't it Gabriele Mini

30:57going around the outside and wide at turn two down towards turn 13 we go this into the hairpin

31:07and he has been noted for that on a couple of occasions Gabriele Mini got to be careful in

31:15this race okay it's the replay of what we just saw yeah simultaneous overtaking

31:23and not on two Invictus and neither of them came off so both Invictus trying

31:29to defend their position Gabriele Mini trying to make it around the outside

31:35doesn't quite do so shoveled to the curb by Roman Stanek who maintains the position

31:41I mean I guess Gabriele Mini will argue that he had nowhere to go but at that point

31:45do you just back off from yeah you can't keep the position can't keep the position off the road

31:50and that is the that is the issue with trying to get the move done around the outside of a

31:55chicane like that the rules specifically say that if you're tire to tire me being front tire to front

32:01tire with the car that you're trying to overtake you you are able to maintain your gap around the

32:08outside and deserve space around the outside and so that's where you've got to get to if you're

32:12the driver trying to snatch the second apex of a two-part complex like that it's the more popular

32:17move there isn't it it's not the conventional down the inside pass it's a complex of corners where

32:24drivers prefer to go around the outside at turn one and then into the inside at turn two checking

32:30with Prema watching their man fight for all he's worth two cars in the race for them Sebastien

32:36Montoya sitting in 15th place at the moment enjoying this layout but sitting outside the

32:41points along with many of the other rookies tough place to come to as a formula two driver in their

32:49first campaign many many drivers in the field i think he said 12 to me before the broadcast chris

32:56never done laps around this circuit before they arrived all 27 corners of it all the way around

33:03seven corners of it albeit some of those are requiring more things than others a lot of it

33:09is flat out drive-through stuff but the ones that require a break and a turn in the steering wheel

33:14sure catch your attention with walls lining the racetrack on the world's fastest street circuit

33:20and a driver who took pole position here last year before he was off to race in formula one

33:27ollie behrman did that for prema racing who have taken pole twice here they've done it with two

33:34f1 drivers in oscar piastri and ollie behrman ollie behrman watching on from the pit wall

33:41are we watching another f1 driver in the making it's a championship which has many f1 drivers

33:51come through it these are the stars of the future they're going wheel to wheel round the streets of

33:56jeddah formula three champion leo fornaroli with aston martin's jack crawford side by side with him

34:03down the start finish straight and crawford will take the position into turn one meanwhile gabriele

34:08mini trying a different approach this time trying to get the cutback out of turn two there

34:13on roman stanek and they are going to be nose to tail into turn four really battle this mini

34:20finding his own a little bit more as soon as he got back in to the drs train he did exactly what

34:25he needed to do which is stay with roman stanek and keep himself out of trouble from behind a lot

34:30of movement on that front wing on the left hand side though for gabriele mini as he makes his way

34:35through the first sector of the lap bouncing over that outside kerb in turn 10 he's just fallen back

34:41look one second back there mini is that going to put him under pressure from the orange winged dams

34:47of crawford from behind as they move into drs country once more out front for sure is extending

34:54his lead to 2.3 seconds just a gap update there pepe marty in a comfortable third place overdone

35:04the top four we haven't seen them in a little while in this race this is jack crawford a battle

35:11we've been following now he's getting a little bit closer to mini yeah oh and a lot of there for

35:16stanek yeah stanek goes wide locks up and goes wide through the mid corner turn 22 interested

35:21to see how that affects his momentum onto the long straight which follows it gap check out front

35:27richard for sure has stabilized and increased the gap now from arvid limblad as crawford looks once

35:34more mini deciding to take the apex of 22 and dish the drs down towards turn one this time feeling

35:40he's got that gap under control let's see if he's right down the start finish straight mini under

35:46pressure here from jack crawford who's been patient in this race and now looking to get the

35:51rewards from that here he goes down the inside crawford on mini wheel-to-wheel and contact

35:57crawford is round and that's a real shame for our poll sitter tomorrow trying to make the move

36:03on gabriele mini for p6 and it's ended in tears for jack crawford who spins around his season

36:09going from bad to worse in terms of scoring points he will score no points again today great

36:16opportunity for points for jack crawford and what a shame he just went down the inside mini committed

36:22very hard on the brakes as well and crawford cranks the steering wheel to try and keep it out of the

36:27side of the pramer finds himself backwards in turn one and that looks to me like he's lost the engine

36:33we could well see a stoppage here either a virtual or full safety car they're relatively close

36:38to an area where they can recover the car there so let's see what race control decide to do

36:44as you said we could say and there we go safety car is out and let's see what happens in terms

36:50of getting this race back started real shame for jack crawford had a great opportunity

36:56at getting some points on the board ahead of starting from pole position tomorrow it looked

37:01like his approach to this race and just being patient was really starting to pay off there

37:07had a great chance to get past mini and then possibly go on the attack for stanek but it has

37:13ended him facing in the wrong direction let's have a look at it then crawford's gonna jump to the

37:17inside of mini mini look at him commit on the brakes but he's still got the car under control

37:22and there was contact there so crawford didn't have the the braking performance in the dirty

37:27inside line to get as far as he would have wanted down the inside while still retaining control in

37:34the dams locks up the inside front things get worse and clatter he goes into the uh into the

37:40side pod of the pramer and spins the car around a real shame for jack crawford and that's not

37:46going to do his confidence any good going into that feature race tomorrow either alex of course

37:52he'll lead us away tomorrow not what you want ahead of a big race like that no absolutely not

37:58he could have just used the points at this stage marshall's doing a quick job

38:02of uh of clearing up i wonder if there would be anybody at the rear of the field who goes for the

38:07super soft tire and i wonder if anybody won't go for the super soft tire as they although this may

38:14just be the safety car bringing them in through the pit lane uh actually um to take them out of

38:20the the danger in the first corner but several drivers then jumping uh for the super soft tire

38:25which you would do wouldn't you if you were out of the hunt here to give you something through the

38:29end of the race so a twist then in this in this sprint race it's exactly what we had at bahrain

38:34albeit a little bit later ritomo miata has gone for it and that's one of the van amersfoort's

38:40going for it as well and as you said you might as well so two cars uh changing to super soft

38:45tires the quicker compound tire the purple sidewall they have to use both compounds in

38:51the feature race tomorrow with a compulsory pit stop but essentially a free stop there

38:56and a chance to put those quicker tires on and villa gomez was the other driver to do it so

39:02ritomo miata villa gomez going through safety car is out and it looked like uh we were getting

39:09that cleared up very very quickly so let's see how soon we can get this race back going

39:18um so i have uh the cars from montoya backwards on the super soft tire at the moment we'll review

39:27that as and when we can see all those cars come out of the pit lane we've got safety car

39:32in this lap um and uh there are the safety car will be will be coming into the pit lane

39:43at several cars then going for that softer compound

39:48well the safety car is ending

39:53and john bennett will go through pit lane and that will mean richard for sure will take us

40:02up towards the line so john bennett just out of position there richard for sure will take us

40:09up towards the line he's got to nail this start now this is very important for him

40:15had built a good lead here alex all about getting this start now yeah so don't be confused by bennett

40:20he's going to go with the safety car finds himself out of position was captured by the safety car

40:24richard for sure still the leader don't be confused by the full field going through the pit lane they

40:29were taken through the pit lane to keep them out of the way the marshall's working down at turn one

40:33we've got to restart with richard for sure in first limblad in second marty in third and then

40:38it's done and he's gone relatively early out of the final turn two cars on the super soft towards

40:44the back gambling for it but out front is for sure leading us across the start finish line

40:49and it's for sure leading limblad leading marty as they head across the start finish line in towards

40:56the braking zone we go and richard for sure leading us in a three lap shootout for this sprint race

41:02here at jeddah as they come through the first sequence of corners richard for sure trying to

41:08get that sprint race win that evaded him here a year ago alex dunn trying to add to the win he

41:14got a week ago and fornaroli's cleared minnie so fornaroli cleared minnie in the invicta minnie's

41:19being shuffled slightly back and he's now going to be under the attention to victor martin's in the

41:25art great start there for gabriele mini and the likes of leo fornaroli down towards the hairpin

41:33we go here we can see on the attack victor martin's on gabriele mini side by side into the hairpin

41:39this is for the last paying points positions here around the outside there gabriele mini

41:45wheel to wheel with victor martin's for p7 absolutely uh under pressure uh through these

41:51last couple of laps gabriele mini um and he's found himself with very little tire left hasn't

41:56he look at it moving around through the exit of uh turned 16 there and it's going to be a fight

42:02now for gabriele mini because he's not got the warm-up and he's not got the performance can he

42:06keep that car in the points here in the sprint race you have to be within one second to get that

42:11drs and for sure is almost breaking it let's uh watch this on board back yeah down the uh inside

42:18then this is fornaroli on the restart making the move on gabriele mini relatively easy stuff there

42:24no drs required and drs is held again uh just like at the start after a safety car so it will be

42:31reinstated uh once more after a lap and but that done on tow only from fornaroli he must have got

42:38out of the final corner brilliantly now it is done moving around the papaya liveried mclaren

42:44connected car moving around behind the red bull liveried machine and that's him having a look at

42:50marty just trying to distract him down into that first turn richard for sure has almost broken drs

42:56there on limblad there it is it is enabled now as they will head up towards turn 22 we will see

43:02those flaps being open done is right on the back of pepe marty trying to get back-to-back podiums

43:09here marty he wants two podiums in as many sprint races himself though he was just denied a podium

43:15last time out in the feature race by leo fornaroli who was fighting away with gabriele mini made that

43:22move on the safety car restart victor martins in eighth place as a head round turn 13 and now up

43:30towards that drs zone alex and for sure has done everything he needs to do here 1.2 seconds to the

43:36good limblad still with the attentions of marty you can see the gaps on the left hand side of your

43:41screen anything under a press under a second will dish out the drs and that's what dunn's gonna have

43:46but so is marty it'll be limblad under slight pressure but with just enough gap here to keep

43:52him out of trouble down to 22 at least 19 of 20 will be on the last one next time round

43:59and we're just hearing that richard for sure has been given a five second penalty so there's

44:05another twist in this race richard for sure has been given a five second penalty something i've

44:13just been told in my ear alex dunn locking up down towards the final corner so another twist

44:20in this race will he be denied once again it looks like that will be the case as they head down

44:27towards the first corner our battle is now all about limblad versus marty and they are just half

44:33a second apart alex yeah half a second apart on the on the road richard for sure uh leads the

44:40leads on the racetrack and then it is done uh in the road in behind in fourth position

44:46but for sure appears comfortable on the racetrack but if there is indeed a five second penalty that

44:52will drop him way down into the middle of the top five as a result of the field being clustered back

44:58up by the safety car so if that indeed is the case a disaster for the shore and it's for pushing

45:02another driver off the circuit that's being confirmed to me so so richard for sure five

45:09second penalty for pushing another driver off the circuit which means arvid limblad is on to

45:15make history and become the youngest winner here in formula two so pepe marty is currently our

45:23driver in second and that means absolute disaster for richard for sure who will once again be denied

45:31a sprint race win arvid limblad looks on to make history here alex and be the youngest winner in

45:37formula two brilliant stuff from arvid limblad he's looked on it all weekend long a great race

45:42from campos who put the car underneath the drivers and the always strong in victor gonna be great

45:48points for dunn as well after his uh after his fantastic feature race victory but for sure

45:55rounds the final corner and we'll find out at the line well it's a familiar sight richard for sure

46:00will lead us across the line once again in a sprint race here at jeddah but he will be denied

46:05post race with a five second penalty so in the background arvid limblad will become the youngest

46:11winner in formula two history pepe marty will come across the line in second it's a campos

46:18one two finish and alex dunn takes back-to-back podiums arvid limblad is your winner it's history

46:26made in formula two the 17 year old to the top step of the podium pepe marty in second what a

46:34sight that is the two red bull juniors a one-two finish for them and arvid limblad well he made

46:40history in formula three at bahrain last year in the sprint race becoming the youngest winner

46:47in formula three and now he's made history here in formula two becoming the youngest winner in

46:54this championship since its inception in 2017 alex dunn well he's proving that result last week

47:01was no fluke third place back-to-back podiums again richard for sure sadly denied for a five

47:08second penalty post race for pushing another driver off the second yeah the red bull driver

47:14though since 2021 fourth place in the formula three championship last year fantastic stuff

47:21from arvid limblad he'll be really happy with that a fantastic season in formula three last

47:27year and the rookie driver finds the top step of the podium what a great day for him what a

47:34performance arvid limblad coming into this championship on a track he had never even

47:40turned a wheel on before he arrived this weekend and he goes straight to the top step of the podium

47:46at his first attempt it's something he did in formula three bahrain last year turned up got

47:52straight to the top step of the podium and this is why alex day he is being linked heavily to red

47:59bull racing they've talked about him last season in formula three he took a record equaling four

48:04wins there last year took that famous double at silverstone and now he's already making records

48:11in formula two three rounds in great day for alex dunn and pepe marty two drivers

48:17in the early championship contention dunn came into this sea came into this weekend within a point

48:25of the championship lead marty a couple of points of the championship lead so that'll

48:30vault them right to the sharp end of the championship it continues to go well for

48:35those two what could have been for marty if he didn't have those little issues through the middle

48:40of the race we saw him wide once and dropping that position to limblad so he'll be he'll be

48:46happy with that performance but thinking he could well have been on the top step there but at this

48:51stage it it is it is a great great result for arvid limblad i've just got a incident involving

48:59for sure through as well for a for a safety car infringement has jumped up on the race control

49:05screen so unfortunately there could be further discussions with the stewards for the dutchman

49:10yep safety car infringement for sure this sprint race win it's almost like it's not meant to be

49:16for richard for sure and that's a real shame for the mp motorsport driver currently in p4

49:23these results are always provisional do check the formula 2 websites for all the official results and

49:30reports of them for now we see these great shots of arvid limblad making his way around pepe marty

49:38leading that campus one to finish what a result for them what a day for them they'll remember

49:45this one for a while that's for sure and alex dunn as well that's a superb drive for him that

49:52could elevate him all the way to the top of the standings stanek fifth mini mp6 fornaroli seventh

49:59as well martin's eighth stanek putting in a fine drive there in p5 it has to be said holding off

50:05mini fornaroli putting a good performance to hold off martin's stanek will be thinking what could

50:11have been as well if he'd able to been able to clear gabriele mini just a little bit quicker

50:16mini did a great job to hang on in the midfield in a car that looked like it didn't have the pace

50:21from sort of lap five onwards really somehow manages to to cling to a to a top six finish

50:27gabriele mini a uh and uh hold off leonardo fornaroli as well uh snatching that position back

50:36so uh sometimes these series are won and lost and gained on the days where you don't quite have

50:42the best car but with the best car and the best performance uh well certainly the best package

50:47today arvid lindblad will surely be delighted as he jumps out of the red bull livery machine

50:54arvid lindblad leading a first campus one to finish in formula two what a memorable day for

51:01them in this championship and he becomes the youngest winner in formula two in the process

51:09as well congratulations to arvid lindblad congratulations to campus racing they are growing

51:15very very quickly in this championship well done to alex dunn as well the mclaren back driver

51:22continues to impress there's his father no celebrating with him arvid lindblad has done a

51:28superb job celebrating with ollie roland his coach who has been with him right from the start of his

51:35journey and pepe marty putting himself in firm contention for this title back-to-back podiums

51:41for the spaniard alex brilliant stuff um at the beginning of his season in what it has to be the

51:49year uh for marty uh coming back to the series through this year so much misfortune through last

51:55year the driver who didn't finish uh races more than any other often not through his own fault or

52:02through uh racing incidents for pepe marty's got an opportunity to shine here and looks like he's

52:08got the car underneath him to do so as well and 0.5 seconds only behind arvid lindblad

52:16so touching distance a great final couple of laps to keep him out of the clutches of alex dunn for

52:21second arvid lindblad has got used to this quickly hasn't he well done to him and red bull racing

52:30have good form around this circuit they put some drivers on the top step of the podium here and

52:37now they've just got a one two with lindblad and marty and bruno michelle congratulating

52:46now the record holder arvid lindblad as he heads off there well done to him that's a great results

52:54all round and it's exciting season ahead we have here alex i mean that's another very competitive

53:02race all the way through uh that top eight in particular it could have gone a number of ways

53:08and uh arvid lindblad going back to sort of the first round and second round was growing into this

53:13but uh it's done very well to come through there we'll catch more thoughts of you before we get the

53:17thoughts of the drivers

53:48so

53:53like that with many yeah yeah because maybe passed me but he was he was like that going

53:58into the last corner so i had to fully like back out and let him by get the drs because

54:03otherwise it was i was getting passed by alex in the whole field that one was close

54:07when i hit the wall with about nine laps to go like every past last corner

54:12hi that was that was really smart though it worked yeah but it's the only way i could

54:16this reading that was pretty good but it was a bit of a dog fight behind that for me

54:32watches on for the podium celebrations here

54:39a tough race confirmation of the the management of the drs system by the drivers that's one to

54:44watch out for isn't it in the feature race chris they know exactly uh which uh which buttons to

54:51press their incident involving mini and fauna rollie uh also uh under in being noted for

54:59causing a collision so plenty to discuss uh for the drivers uh after the session

55:06arvid lindblad this will make you this will upset you chris arvid lindblad born in 2007

55:14yes that is uh that's quite quite the thing isn't it just you just forget how young and mega these

55:21formula two drivers are yeah i remember seeing arvid lindblad when he was eight years old at

55:27car track with ollie roland what a journey he's been on since then as you mentioned so young

55:34it's their journey born in 2007 but pepe marty and alex done likewise and just like that there he is

55:42on to the podium what a good turn of form alex alex done is having he's doing such a great job

55:50two podiums in as many races now here comes pepe marty the red bull junior

55:58he has had two podiums and two sprint races now and here he is the youngest f2 winner

56:05arvid lindblad for campus right homer one two finish

56:55well done to arvid lindblad what a day for arvid lindblad the red bull junior team and

57:03campus racing f2 now has its youngest winner and a new winner as well here at jeddah it's had some

57:11great winners along the way oscar piastri a sprint race winner here back in 2021 are we staring at

57:18another driver on the path to formula one in arvid lindblad campus racing a one two finish

57:25for them that's something they can now add to their list well done to them they're growing

57:30so fast in this championship they've been with us but they are putting themselves well

57:36in contention for the team's championship which they now lead and pepe marty played a huge part

57:43in helping them take the lead of that team's championship on a roll in terms of podiums and

57:48he'll pay a salute to the team as well he's been part of that team for many years and pepe marty

57:54growing with them and alex dunn now our championship leader tied on points for pepe

58:00marty but that feature race win putting him ahead of pepe marty the irishman making history

58:08for his country last week and growing very very quickly and that will be celebrations on the

58:15podium richard for sure of course getting that penalty post race did lead us across the line it

58:22was a my life be like
