Warrnambool and District league under 17 football interleague captain Harry van Rooy speaks ahead of the 2025 South West District junior carnival in Portland.
Transcript
00:00Alright Harry, how are you guys looking ahead of the weekend's carnival?
00:03I reckon we're looking pretty strong this year. Good group of boys, a lot of us
00:08were together with the interleague last year as well, so vibes up and going and
00:13we're keen to get out there. Any sort of strengths do you reckon? Where do you reckon you're?
00:16Oh well, I don't know really, it's just play some football, get out there, see what
00:24happens and then I think we're a bit of an adaptable group, so whatever the conditions are,
00:30rain and sun, whatever, we'll be able to get out there and get a red hot crack.
00:34And you've had three training sessions together, how's that going?
00:37Yeah it's going really well actually, all the training sessions, balls flying around so
00:43all the boys know everyone, it's pretty good yeah.
00:47And any set in stone sort of expectations or aims for the team?
00:51Oh well there's always going to be aims and goals, I think we're going to try and discuss those
00:56on the morning, but there's definitely not expectations, we go out there, give it our
01:00best, that's all that we're expecting. And how does it feel to be named captain?
01:06I mean it's just a C next to my name really, all the boys are around for a reason, we all got picked
01:12on the team for a reason, so it's no real biggie. And is it nice to get to play with some of the guys
01:18that you know you come up against? Oh yeah, yeah. Rather than seeing them as enemies you're seeing
01:25them more as mates now, so when you're playing real time in our league you already know them,
01:31so have a nice chat, yeah. Sounds good, well good luck for the weekend.
01:35Yeah, it's so easy, thank you.
