00:00To you tonight, as you are our legal expert here, we're getting breaking news in another major legal case that has fascinated the nation.
00:07And this is a judge resentencing the Menendez brothers for 50 years to life in prison, which essentially makes them eligible for parole.
00:16What does this mean? What could we see happen next year?
00:19Well, part of the reason they did so is because the first DA in elected office, who was recently the DA, wanted to have this resentencing.
00:27He then lost an election. The incoming DA, now the incumbent DA, said, no, no, no, I do not want to do this resentencing.
00:33Well, the judge essentially said, too late. The office has already initiated this motion. It's going to stand.
00:39And now they are eligible for parole almost immediately. But they have to go before a parole board.
00:44What they're hoping for, though, is for the governor of California to give clemency and do away, essentially, with their time in prison now and allow them to return home.
00:53This is a very significant case. It's been over 35 years. A lot of celebrity interests.
00:59A lot of people who have been pushing and rooting for them. Documentary films, not the least of which his own family members, their own family members from both sides of the family of the parents that were killed.
