00:37Exacto.
00:37Ok, para no confundir.
00:40Exacto.
00:40A ver, está muy interesante porque, de entrada,
00:43Karate Kid revivió cuando se fueron a...
00:46Fue en YouTube al principio, ¿no?
00:47Sí, con Cobra Kai.
00:48Con Cobra Kai.
01:06Ándale.
01:06...conocer a Daniel Laruso.
01:08Pero sin duda...
01:08Daniel San.
01:09Daniel San, cuando llegó Cobra Kai,
01:11era revivir como todo ese espíritu,
01:13como de varias generaciones, ¿no?
01:15Sí.
01:58Ok, Rangestown.
01:59Exactamente.
02:00Con Joshua Jackson y con...
02:03Paisi.
02:03Ya, ya, me compro.
02:05Ben Wan.
02:06Así que esto es parte de lo que...
02:10So, thank you so much for having me here.
02:22It's a pleasure to be in front of you.
02:24Great to be here.
02:25Guys, congrats on the movie.
02:27It's amazing.
02:28So, the first question is for you.
02:30It's been over 40 years since Daniel San, Daniel Aruso, met Mr. Miyagi.
02:37And I would like you to know, how do you honor Pat Morita in this story?
02:43And what do you think it still resonates with new audiences, with new generations?
02:49Yeah.
02:49I mean, listen, I've always said this, and I believe it wholeheartedly.
02:55Mr. Miyagi is the magic, the secret sauce of this franchise.
03:02You know, I call it soulful magic, what that character and Pat Morita's performance brought
03:08to this.
03:09And I think without it, we're up here talking about something else.
03:13This is my opinion.
03:16I hold it at that regard.
03:19To me, having that connective tissue throughout, it was really something early on in discussions
03:25before, you know, when I first met with Columbia Pictures about this movie.
03:31I said, how do we connect that together and pay homage to it?
03:36Because that's the motivating factor.
03:38And it rung true in the line.
03:41Jackie has a line where he says, Lee means to me what you meant to Sensei Miyagi.
03:48And I said, it's really on Jackie.
03:50The whole getting on the plane and helping the kid, it really has to be on that moment.
03:57Because, and then later on, I say something to the effect of, anytime I have a chance to
04:03share a piece of the legacy, it's never the wrong choice.
04:07That was a line that we came up with that I felt was really important to have.
04:11And so through that, it's about, you know, I think about if my father was no longer here
04:18and someone knew my dad and knew something, new information for me and said this was important
04:26to him and someone needs your help, I'd get on that plane.
04:30I just would.
04:31And so that's connecting that to the original film story and the Miyagi character was super
04:39important.
04:40And hopefully that resonates in this movie, because then once you're in this story, you're
04:44on a new roller coaster ride that's fresh and exciting for multiple generations in every
04:50country on the planet.
04:51So...
04:52Yeah, and it has that essence from the first movie.
04:55So congrats for that.
04:56Thank you.
04:57And the next is for you.
04:59You grew up watching Jackie Chan movies, you said before that, and you loved this story
05:05as a kid.
05:05So how do you honor that legacy while you keep your own voice?
05:11I tried to honor that legacy by not messing up.
05:19I worked really hard because I was such a big fan of those, Jackie Chan, especially those
05:27action sequences that he did, you know, all throughout the last 30 years of his filmography.
05:35I didn't, I wanted to, because, you know, one of the discussions that I had early on with
05:42the director and the stunt coordinator is that we wanted to make a film that felt in spirit
05:49similar to those Jackie Chan movies in the way that we approach the action, in the way
05:54that he did action that felt both grounded but also elevated at the same time.
05:58It's a really tough line to walk, but I also knew that in order to do that, like, I had a lot
06:05of work to do, so it's about doing the work, and it's also about having really good teachers
06:11and people on set that, you know, you can sort of watch and learn.
06:16Yeah, absolutely, and I think that this movie, Joshua, introduced you in a world full of feelings
06:26and cultural weight, but I would like to know, how do you feel about that, about this story,
06:36and what kind of values did you find in your character that resonates with you, both as personal
06:44and as an actor?
06:46Well, I think, what I love about who Victor is and what he represents, one, he's a good father, right?
06:53I think it's always good to put good fathers on camera.
06:57Two, he's, I think, a good man who has made mistakes and has his flaws but is trying to make his way
07:03through his life with honor and hard work and dedication, and last, and for this story,
07:10most importantly, he's a trusted adult male, and I know in my life that there have been men
07:18who are not my blood relations who have been very, very important to me as I have grown
07:23up, and I didn't always know it at the time, but I look back and I can name them, right?
07:29I remember these men who showed me this, you know, at this particular moment in my journey
07:34in life, here's how to be a good man, right? Whether you do this now or you learn to do
07:39it later, here's how to do this the right way, and I think for him to drop into Lee's
07:44life at this very moment where Lee has a phenomenal mother, and Lee has his shifu, but he also
07:51needs some guidance from another trustworthy adult male who is able to say the words but
07:57also put it into action. Like, this is how you become an honorable person. This is how you
08:01live a good life, and I think that's a beautiful thing to put on camera, and I don't think we
08:06do it a ton, right? One of the things I've loved about the Karate Kid movies right from
08:09the very beginning, even though I couldn't have articulated this, is how much heart they
08:14have, but how central to the idea of leading a good life is to be a mentor and a mentee,
08:20because just as important as Miyagi is to Daniel-san, Daniel-san is that to Miyagi, right?
08:26It gives Miyagi a sense of purpose in his life to be able to give this to another
08:32generation, and now I'm at the father age, right? And so to be able to be a part, to be able
08:37to be that part of this story, or a part of that part of this story, about how important
08:42it is for us when we're older to be able to give the wisdom of our lives to the people who
08:47coming behind us to be those trustworthy adult figures. So...
08:52Well, we have also, but also, it has been very interesting, Yvette, because, well,
08:57we have been doing a few weeks, we were from Spain to return to Mexico.
09:02We did very well. We did very well. We did very well, like the champion, but, but
09:05the important part of this journey, apart from covering the
09:09the Platinum Prize in itself, was that we were able to talk with many of the
09:13personalities, actors, actresses, producers, directors, directoras, that
09:17were there present, and we also talked about their projects, and between
09:21these projects, for example, there is the new comedy, which is not something that we
09:25normally think about with her, The Cape del Castillo.
09:28Exactly.
09:29And we tell you more about it.
09:31It's a very fun movie, which is really pure entertainment, it's for Netflix, and
09:37with Diana Bobbio, and the director of Maria Torres.
09:42So we are the three, it's a movie of women, which is very rare to see women,
09:46not just for women, like the body, you know, like the
09:50men, that no there is, that no there is, that no there is the
09:52term in...
09:53Yes, we have a Thelma and Louise.
09:54Yes, yes, yes.
09:55And there is where there is no romance, where there is no
09:58romance, where there is no, you know.
09:59Yes.
10:00Híjole, Eugenio Derbez siempre, a ver,
