Quick N dirty test
Transcript
00:00okay what we've got here is a ferro rod
00:15and these particular ones they actually screw in and out i don't know if you can get replacements
00:34or not but uh the carbiner is mine i had that line around and that's the little scraper there
00:43i gotta say that is pretty freaking useless i'm not particularly happy with that that is uh
00:53overly challenging to use because they've gone and done a stupid trick design on it where they've
00:58hollowed it out so it only left it flat it might work it might work no pretty useless
01:07uh i've gone and sharpened this thing up so
01:12no
01:30oh well what am i looking for yeah here
01:33so the biggest weakness with this particular system i think is this here that what's supposed
01:44to scrape with uh at least you can pop a small carbiner on there and you can hang it from a belt
01:55loop or from your backpack or something and shouldn't go anywhere
02:03which is why you probably want one of these you want a knife so let's see about making a bit of fire
02:25just very gently cleaning up because we've got a an iron skillet here which is going to be
02:53a nice bushcrafty spine
03:09that should be enough there i think we don't need more than that i don't think
03:13so we'll take this little thing out
03:26and with our slightly bushcrafty
03:29okay
03:51okay so what i need to do i think i need to push this off a little bit off to one side
03:55so i can get my hands on the skillet
04:03oh we've scraped off a lot of uh
04:16there we go
04:25there's a small sliver of fatwood there
04:49so
04:58so
05:02so
05:14Okay, so let's go.
05:44I'm going to push it all together a little bit to mush it up a little bit, I think.
06:12I'm going to push off to one side a little bit, get my hand here on the finger.
06:40Fat wood, very easy. Look at that thing going. That's the difference. Bit of gum tree versus
06:52flat wood, eh?
