My dog is my soulmate

Benji and Andrew are dog-human best friends and they do everything together, literally.

00:00So the first special thing that I noticed was his sense of excitement when he came to adventure,

00:10and that matched my personality so well.

00:13My name is Andrew Lasky, and this is my boy Benji.

00:30I think he's better looking than I am too.

00:33I don't hold that against him or anything.

00:35Well, it's been kind of a wild ride.

00:38You know, I started out as a mechanical engineering student that went into sales for a big corporate

00:42company, but as of last January, I actually quit my job so I could pursue traveling full-time

00:47with my pup.

00:48At the end of the day, we were able to spend as much time together, able to go on all these

00:52crazy adventures, and living the life that we, you know, I had always dreamed of.

01:04So I think one of Benji's superpowers is his ability to adapt to different environments.

01:09You know, I started out on a treadmill at the age of six months because I didn't want to

01:12go out and take him in a walk in the rain out in Seattle.

01:15And then we kind of progressed from there where we did, like, rollerblading.

01:18I would rollerblade and he'd run next to me.

01:20And then we even progressed to the point where I got a backpack, put him in it, and I would

01:24rollerblade with him.

01:25And we've also done that with all kinds of different things.

01:29He plays basketball with me.

01:32He plays football with me.

01:34I also, you know, riding the bike in the sidecar.

01:37And then I also have a trailer that I push him for when I go rollerblading and all of

01:40that.

01:41I just think it's so cool how I've gotten him to be so good with these activities.

01:51You know, I've always been against this whole idea that, okay, a dog is just a dog.

01:55I've always thought Benji is my son.

01:58He's been on well over a hundred flights, I'd say, but most recently we've just been

02:02road tripping all over.

02:04Last year alone, we did over 40,000 miles.

02:06We did a trip from LA to Cabo, LA to Key West, and another one from LA to New York.

02:11And this year we have a lot of travel ahead.

02:14In my opinion, he's better at being a human than he is a dog.
