00:00In Agege and Aurili Agege areas of Lagos State, residents staged a peaceful protest over what
00:13they described as a political imposition and unfair practices during the recent local government
00:20primaries. The protesters under the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, marched through streets
00:28carrying placards with messages like, Justice for Agege and United We Stand Against Political
00:36Imposition. They accused some political leaders of trying to force their preferred candidates
00:42on the people, especially in all Progressive Congress APC primaries.
00:58The protest followed the announcement of a candidate allegedly linked to the Speaker
01:06of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Mudashiru Obasa, as the APC Chairmanship
01:12flag bearer for Agege local government. This decision angered many residents who say the
01:20process was not transparent.
01:50The PCC Chairman, Mr. Sabitu Kamaruddin, said the primary held on May 10, 2025, did not reflect
02:01the true choice of party members. He accused the party of blocking some aspirants from getting
02:08nomination forms and claimed that many were pressured to step down. Kamaruddin also insisted
02:15that the group's preferred candidate is Bukola Shofidiya, also known as Ghidado, and said the
02:22attempt to replace him with another candidate was unfair and went against the principles of
02:29internal democracy.
02:50The protesters are now calling on the APC leadership at both the state and national levels to step
02:58in and ensure fairness, justice, and a transparent process that reflects the will of the people.
