Stars and filmmakers walk the red carpet as Cannes Film Festival opens
Stars of the silver screen dazzled on the red carpet on Tuesday, May 13, as they made their way into the plush Grand Theatre Lumiere for the opening of the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
Directors Quentin Tarantino and Sean Baker posed for photographs wearing classic tuxedos, while jury members Juliette Binoche and Halle Berry dazzled crowds wearing floor-length gowns.
Robert De Niro, recipient of the festival's lifetime achievement award, walked the carpet before heading up the stairs of the Palais des Festivals et des Congres to attend the ceremony.
Models Bella Hadid and Irina Shayk donned black gowns on the carpet, while Heidi Klum and Alessandra Ambrosio wore colorful, floor-length dresses, despite the festival's announcement they were prohibiting voluminous outfits on the red carpet.
The 78th Cannes Film Festival runs for eleven days until Saturday, May 24.
