Is there a thing you own that’s priceless to you?

Mike decided to sell the last valuable thing he had left – his Olympic medal. The pawn shop owner, upon seeing Mike dressed in rags and sitting in a banged-up wheelchair, immediately said the medal was a fake. “How could someone like you have such a thing?”, he asked with a grin. Mike explained that he was an Olympic champion, so the medal was the real deal. The owner scoffed and offered him a hundred bucks for it. His assistant, however, quietly pointed out that the trophy was made from real gold, so it was worth much more. The owner giggled and whispered that it was simply a good chance to rip off a customer who couldn’t do anything about it.

Mike accepted the tiny bit of cash and left. But what had happened didn’t sit right with the assistant.

00:00What are you doing here?
00:05There's nothing for you here.
00:07Wait.

00:42Hundreds.
00:43Tickets are living.
00:44That's all right.
00:47What?
00:48That amount of gold costs at least 2,000.

00:52Just...
00:53Are you crazy?
00:54Look at this hello.
00:55Two grand.
00:56A stolen item cannot be worth that.
00:59But why are you so sure it's stolen?
01:02I think the medal is truly valuable and needs money.
01:07My dear trainee, you have so much to learn.
01:10This business does not tolerate weakness.
01:13But if you act fairly, I believe that kindness will always circle back to you.
01:17And I'll still prefer money.
01:19So, what is it gonna be?
01:37No one let this go.

01:40Sure, hold it.

02:37for tomorrow's auction.
02:39No.
02:41I won't do that.
02:43It's unfair.
02:44I won't take part of this scam.
02:45Then what the hell are you doing in my business?
02:47Huh?
02:48Get to work, or you're fired.
02:56Good decision.
03:05Atlanta 1996. An outstanding year for sports in our country.
03:12Dear clients, ladies and gentlemen, welcome and prepare your wallets because we are starting our auction.
03:19Hold on!
03:20Before we start the auction, you need to hear it.
03:30What are you doing here? You're fired!
03:36Hello.
03:39I don't want to take up too much of your time, but you must know that...
03:50This is my medal.
03:55Yes, look at me now. It's hard to believe.
04:00It's a cosmic irony.
04:01I was a track and film athlete, and I got everything. A wife, a successful career, worldwide recognition, until a car crash took away everything I loved.
04:18I have come here to ask you not to bid.
04:25This medal is my pride. It's the only thing I have left.
04:30Yes, I was foolish enough to pardon it, but I was desperate.
04:36And now, please, help me to make it right.
04:41Ladies and gentlemen, my apologies for this misunderstanding. Don't listen to this tramp.
04:55Let's get back to the auction, shall we?
04:58So, the certain price for this item is $10,000. Who will give more?
05:03Oh, so that's it.
05:14Everybody just feels guilty for this...
05:19Poor man.
05:20Well, fine. I'll buy it myself.
05:31$10,000 going once.
05:34$10,000 going twice.
05:37$10,000 going three.
05:40$15,000. That's more like it.
05:42$15,000 going once.
05:44$20,000. Thank you.
05:45$20,000. $25,000.
05:47$25,000 going once.
05:49$25,000 going once. $25,000.
05:50$50,000.
05:55$50,000. $50,000, ladies and gentlemen. $50,000 going once. $50,000 going twice. $50,000 going three. Sold!
06:07Congratulations.
06:09We'll be waiting for you and your client at the pawn shop tomorrow.
06:12Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. The auction is closed.
06:21I'm so sorry. I tried.
06:24Grab it.
06:25Grab it.
06:34Well, I warned you.
06:37Hi.
06:39Hi.
06:41I'm here for the medal.
06:42Ah, yes.
06:44Sir.
06:45My big one.
06:46Ah, sure. The medal is yours.
07:05Yeah.
07:07This is the one.
07:09So this is yours?
07:11I told you it was stolen.
07:12The royal champion would have never given up his medal for a lousy hundred bucks.
07:18Hundred bucks.
07:22And here comes the criminal.
07:28William?
07:30Is that you?
07:31I mean, I was looking for you for so long time, my friend.
07:38So you two know each other?
07:40We know each other.
07:42We were on the same team.
07:44You remember?
07:46Michael was first and I was second.
07:49And I always was just a few tens behind you.
07:57Wait.
07:59So you bought my medal at the ocean?
08:02You would never have sold it.
08:04Voluntarily.
08:08And it helped me to find you.
08:12Yeah.
08:18It's yours, my friend.
08:22You always help me.
08:24So now it's time for me to return the favor.
08:28See?
08:30Kindness always circles back.
08:34Well, I still prefer this.
08:38You're talking about a check?
08:43Actually, I'm calling my bank and cancel it.
08:49You can do that.
08:51We had an auction.
08:52It's not legal.
08:53And I think it's illegal to conduct an auction by deceiving the client.
08:58Enough as to why that you deceive him.
09:01By the way, I forgot something.
09:03Here are the hundred bucks that he owes you for the medal.
09:12Let's go, my friends.
09:14I'll make sure you look after.
09:19With interest.
09:33I'll buy it once.
09:34I'll leave.
09:35If I suffer whatsoever, I'll be misinformed,
09:37get one more thing.
09:39Take care.
