00:00Khan says no to nudity and more.
00:02You can prepare to forget naked dresses, voluptuous necklines and an army holding trains of celebs
00:08as they sashay down the Khan red carpet in 2025 starting May 13 of 2025.
00:13Well, dress codes aren't new to the Khan Film Festival, but the grey line lies in making it official.
00:19For years, Khan had an informal no-shirt-no-service policy for men,
00:23while women had to wear high heels to be present on perhaps the most rigid red carpet in the world.
00:28In 2018, Kristen Stewart famously thwarted the unsaid rule by going barefoot on the red carpet,
00:35a moment that went down in fashion books as a great defiance to fashion decorum women are expected to follow.
00:40Now, with the enforcement of the new dress code, it's safe to say that there will be no more sheer dresses,
00:45plunging necklines, long trains or explicit skin show,
00:49all of which made more headlines from the festival than the films being showcased.
00:52This also comes after many ardent viewers of the festival dubbed the 2024 edition
00:57and influencer fest.
00:59After all, dozens of influencers made their way on the carpet through brand endorsements
01:03and wore everything that has seemingly been banned this year.
01:06For years, the debate around Khan has been fashion versus films,
01:09with cinema lovers arguing that bizarre dressing often takes the limelight away from quality cinema,
01:14which is seldom given this world stage.
01:17However, the instructions come in late this year,
01:19and it isn't exactly clear what is banned and what is not.
01:22The Charter says that voluminous dresses with trails hinder traffic of guests on the carpet.
01:27But does that ban all poofy dresses and medium-sized trails?
01:30Hours before the festival commences remains to be seen.
01:33Tote bags, backpacks and large bags in general have also been banned during screenings or security reasons.
01:39In 2022, a topless woman had interrupted the screening protesting against sexual violence in Ukraine.
01:45Do you think the 70th edition of the film festival will be a stark change from the previous ones?
