00:00Welcome to Tutau Win 10.
00:02In this simple video, I'm going to show you how to create a table of contents in just three steps in Microsoft Word.
00:09This way, you can have an index at the beginning of your document.
00:16Okay, the first step we need to do is make sure that the entire document has headings and subheadings, as you can see below.
00:22All of these are going to be the headings and subheadings for our table of contents.
00:32Okay, the next step is to create a blank page at the beginning of the document.
00:37To do this, we're going to go to the beginning of the document.
00:41We're going to place the cursor in front of what would be the first heading, okay?
00:45And now to create a blank page, we'll have to press the following key combination, Ctrl, Shift, plus Enter.
00:55And as you can see, a blank page has been created.
00:59Okay, so that would be the second step.
01:03Now, the third step to create a table of contents would be to go to References here.
01:07We leave the mouse cursor at the beginning of the blank page, which is where the table of contents will go.
01:17And now we're going to click here on the top left where it says Table of Contents.
01:21And now we'll have to select one of these tables, Automatic Table 1 or Automatic Table 2.
01:26If we wanted to have content instead of Table of Contents, we'll click 1 and if not, 2.
01:32So, for example, we'll click Automatic Table 2 and here we can see that it's been created.
01:38It's that easy.
01:40As you can see, it's taken the titles and subtitles as a reference.
01:45But not only that, we can also change the table of contents in real time as we change the titles.
01:53For example, instead of using emulators, we want to use emulators for computers, for example.
01:58Well, if we also wanted to change here in the table of contents, we'll have to click with the left mouse button.
02:08We'll click on Update Table and we'll click on Update Entire Table.
02:13Accept.
02:14And as you can see, now it's changed, see?
02:17And that's it.
02:21It's that easy to create a table of contents automatically in just three steps in Microsoft Word.
