Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed China's commitment to economic and political cooperation with Latin American and Caribbean countries during the China-CELAC Forum held in Beijing on May 13, 2025. teleSUR

00:00In China, during a speech at the CELAC Forum, President Xi Jinping declared his support for

00:05Latin American and Caribbean countries to reject external interference and follow a development

00:10path in accordance with their national conditions. During his inaugural speech at the fourth edition

00:16of the China CELAC Ministerial Forum, the Chinese president said that the countries of the region

00:21stand united against geopolitical tensions, confrontations, unilateralism and protectionism.

00:28On the other hand, he rejected bullying and high-handed practices. A day after Beijing

00:34and Washington announced a truce that will see tariff cut by 10% and 30%. President Xi also said

00:42that China and CELAC will implement the Global Development Initiative to defend the multilateral

00:47trading system and strengthen industrial chains.
