00:00Hello everybody, and thank you for joining this part of the session.
00:08If I'm correct, you should all have already been informed on local digital twins and its benefits,
00:15as well as on LordyMoss, which looks at your digital maturity.
00:20During this part of the session, we will be going over how to create a digitalization roadmap,
00:26with which we mean take a look at where you currently stand, so another maturity assessment,
00:33as well as then building a roadmap on top of that to eventually implement a digital twin.
00:41For that, there's a journey involved. During this training itself, we will be looking at the strategy assessment,
00:50the IT infrastructure assessment, and then building the digitalization roadmap on top of that.
00:55Within this journey, LordyMoss also has a part to play, as that allows you to get to know your overall digital maturity,
01:01and the roadmap is followed by procurement support, which will be talked about,
01:06procurement templates, those kind of things, which will be talked about after this part of the session in the next part.
01:14Then maybe to briefly start with LordyMoss, as I mentioned, it looks at your overall digital maturity,
01:20which is good to also know because in the end everything is connected.
01:25Additionally, to make sure that what we are doing is integrated with that approach,
01:30and also to make sure that there is no double work in anything,
01:35we use a few of the questions and dimensions of LordyMoss to eventually make the roadmap.
01:41So think of, you see the ones highlighted here, so you see strategy, data strategy, interoperability, and IoT devices.
01:51Once LordyMoss is completed, this is followed by the strategy assessment and the IT infrastructure assessment,
01:57where the strategy assessment is more to get a view on where you currently are, where you want to go in terms of your strategic vision,
02:07in terms of your organization, those kind of things.
02:09And the IT infrastructure assessment is divided in two parts, one looking at which systems and applications and IoT devices you currently already have,
02:16and which ones you would like to implement, as well as then taking a close look at your IT infrastructure itself.
02:23We will go into detail on each of these points right after this.
02:29So here, a closer look at the strategy assessment.
02:33Like I mentioned, it looks at your community's digital ambition and where it currently is,
02:39what is it already investing in, and it also looks at where you want to go, what you want to implement,
02:44and as well some enabling factors such as do you already have a smart city office that could lead this whole project,
02:49strategic strategic KPIs to find, to kind of know whether it will be a success or not.
02:57There are a number of different types of questions asked here, so it's multiple choice and open questions.
03:01You see two examples already here, which of the following resources do you share,
03:05and how extensively defined is your vision?
03:08But yeah, these are just two of the many questions in there.
03:14What we want to gain from this is an understanding of where you are and how you want to get where you need to go.
03:21But to get these valuable insights, we of course need the right participants to be involved in this part of the process.
03:29You see some names here, CEO, CTO.
03:33In the end, it doesn't really matter what is important here,
03:36that people that have strategic knowledge about the way that the technology will be used in the future,
03:42what kind of use cases you're interested in,
03:45so those kind of people are involved in this assessment.
03:49Here you see then in more detail the different dimensions that are part of it,
03:53so your strategic priorities, vision and objectives,
03:55whether or not you have your own platform or share it with different cities or communities,
03:59your governance and your strategic KPIs.
04:03Once the strategy assessment is done, it is followed by the IT infrastructure assessment,
04:09where I mentioned it consists of two parts,
04:12one looking at your systems and applications,
04:14and one looking at your real IT infrastructure.
04:17Here you see what we kind of mean with the first part.
04:21So you see your IoT devices, they create data that is then used in your systems or applications,
04:27and then if you would go a step further, really integrate different data,
04:32integrate different use cases into a single platform,
04:35you have your local digital platform,
04:37where you have a good view on all your data or all relevant data,
04:41as well then already as a way to already visualize it and perform some analytics with it.
04:47And only if you go beyond that to advanced analytics capabilities,
04:50real visualization of your city, other simulation capabilities that you want to involve,
04:57then we're talking about a local digital twin.
05:00The other part of the assessment then is looking at your IT infrastructure itself.
05:06Here on the left you see a reference architecture,
05:08where of course there are many different parts involved.
05:10So what do you want to do with it?
05:12What kind of devices are being used?
05:15What are the business rationale behind things?
05:17The data that you have security and integration.
05:20But we are mainly looking at infrastructure itself,
05:24with which we mean your compute, network, data, storage and infrastructure security.
05:30And these are all important to make sure that you have your data,
05:34that you can analyze your data, that you have enough computing power to perform any calculations that need to be performed,
05:39that you have a network that connects everything and that everything is secure.
05:42One thing I do want to mention is that the roadmap itself does have references to most of these parts,
05:50to make sure that of course everything is incorporated.
05:52But in terms of the assessment, that's really looking at your IT infrastructure itself.
05:56So in total there are seven chapters divided over two sections and many different types of questions.
06:06And here again you have some example questions,
06:08but these are really just four out of the many questions that are involved in this assessment.
06:13What is important here is that there do need to be slightly more technical people involved than in the first part.
06:20And where the first part was mainly strategic,
06:22here we're really looking at all these different IT components.
06:25Again, many names.
06:27What is important that people are in the room with the required knowledge on those topics.
06:33The more in-depth view of what is actually being assessed.
06:37So you have your IoT devices along with strategy and platform,
06:40and you have your systems and applications,
06:42culminating into a local digital platform.
06:44And then as well as data storage,
06:46compute network and infrastructure security with their respective sub-capabilities.
06:55Once this assessment is completed,
06:57so the strategy IT infrastructure assessment as well as LordiMAS,
07:01the results need to be analyzed and a roadmap can be made on top of that.
07:05The way that we do it is we have five different maturity levels,
07:12each of which has their own corresponding roadmap.
07:16And then as well as looking at answers to individual questions,
07:19looking at your maturity level for each of the different capabilities to make sure it is tailored as much as possible to the real situation of your city or community.
07:32And here you have an example.
07:34You see the five different overall maturity levels that can be there.
07:38The definitions are not that important right now,
07:41but as you can see, it goes from absent to digital growth,
07:43each showing a higher level of maturity from a technical perspective.
07:48This is then all summarized into a slide showing both your LordiMAS results as well as your technical maturity results,
07:58together with some key considerations that would need to be taken into account when actually going to perform the roadmap.
08:04And talking about the roadmap,
08:06that is something that after all these assessments we can start building.
08:12The roadmap itself consists of three phases,
08:16being the foundation growth, expand and accelerate phase.
08:19We will get into a,
08:20in a moment we'll get into what each of these mean.
08:23And within each of these phases,
08:26there are different enablers and capabilities,
08:29where enablers are a little bit more enabling the things where the capabilities are a bit more technical.
08:35But in the end, what is important to note that there are 19 different streams,
08:39each with their own initiatives defined on them,
08:43as you can see here on the right.
08:44So each of these 19 streams has a list of initiatives to really implement whatever it is that needs to be implemented for your city or community to go to the next level.
08:56Then, like I mentioned, if we go take a look at what these phases actually are and the rationale behind them,
09:01the foundation phase is there to really look at everything that is underlying the eventual digital twin.
09:09So we're talking here about IT infrastructure.
09:12So all those five different dimensions.
09:14About IoT devices that you have,
09:16but also about your strategy,
09:18about a reference architecture that you kind of know what you're building towards.
09:22So everything that you need to progress.
09:25And in the growth phase, it is more about bringing everything together for the first time.
09:30So bringing all your data together,
09:32and already building a platform on top of that with some analytics and visualization capabilities.
09:38Now, if this is already present, then we will not start with MVP.
09:43Instead, we will start with an additional use case or an extension of the platform,
09:50just to make sure that it is all aligned.
09:53Once this is done and there's an implementation of a local digital platform,
09:58the expand and accelerate phase can start,
10:01which is really looking at implementing a local digital twin,
10:04with whatever capabilities are required for the use cases you have envisioned.
10:11So that's really about making sure you're ready for that,
10:17making sure everybody's involved,
10:18making sure that everything that you have done so far is still aligned with where you want to go.
10:23But we'll take a brief look at that in a moment.
10:26Because here you have your reference roadmap with each of the 19 streams included in it.
10:32So as you can see, you have your digital strategy,
10:36but also your stakeholder experience.
10:38So you have the things that came back in the assessments,
10:41as well as additional enabling factors that are required to really make sure this is all a success.
10:50On top of that, you see here the different maturity levels,
10:55and with the place that we would expect them to start.
10:58Now, this is just an indication because in the end,
11:00you can have different maturity levels for each of the different capabilities,
11:03making it that you can't really say what the exact starting point is,
11:08but this already gives you an idea of what each of them mean more or less.
11:15And then we can take a closer look at all the different streams involved in the roadmap,
11:20which are listed here.
11:22So you have your digital strategy, your governance, reference architecture,
11:27but also all the way going to your project management and expanding your strategy,
11:32the deployment of a digital twin.
11:34All these things were included in the roadmap.
11:36And each of them have their own list of initiatives to make sure there's a successful implementation of them.
11:42And then here's the additional list of capabilities such as device management, compute, security.
11:50Again, all of them with their own list of initiatives.
11:54And here is a real example of a reference roadmap that we would give,
11:59and that we would recommend people to develop towards.
12:03So you see each of the different streams as well as their timeline.
12:07And of course, we have here chosen for a six-year timeline.
12:10Everything here is indicative.
12:11It is highly dependent on your current status.
12:15It's highly dependent on your procurement process,
12:17the number of people you have available, the resource you have available.
12:20But this gives an idea in terms of implementation time where you would need to work towards.
12:28Then finally, for the last slide, here we have the initiatives.
12:31So here you have the data initiative.
12:34And this is just one of two slides that would be included for this community.
12:38And each of those 90 things has their own list.
12:41So in the data initiative, you can see each of the sub-capabilities that were also tested for in the assessment.
12:47And then each with a list of initiatives under them to really define what you need to do to improve on that dimension.
12:55Additionally, you can have a calendar estimate.
12:57Also included are procurement objects because, of course, for some of these we recommend procuring certain tools.
13:07And so those are included as well as in any interdependencies this initiative might have with other initiatives.
13:14That was it from my side.
13:20The next step now, if you would come to this, it would, of course, be the implementation of the roadmap,
13:26as well as the procurement of certain objects.
13:29This last part will then also be explained, I think, in the next part of this session directly after when I'm done.
13:36So hopefully anything that you any questions you have there can be enlightened on during that time.
13:44Other than that, I hope this has been useful to most of you and this has clarified certain questions you may have had on how to look at where you are and how to progress towards the eventual implementation of a digital twin.
13:58And if there are any questions of any of this, please feel free to reach out to me.
14:03We would be happy to assist you with any questions you may have.
14:07And other than that, I hope you have enjoyed it and thank you all very much for listening.
