00:30The facility is a part of the Defense Industrial Corridor Initiative.

00:34Built at a cost of Rs. 300 crore,

00:37this new unit is expected to produce 80 to 100 Brahmos missiles every year.

00:42But the bigger development is the arrival of the next-generation Brahmos.

00:50The state-of-the-art unit will produce 100 to 150 next-gen missiles

00:55which are lighter, more agile and boast a range of 300 km.

01:05Named after the Brahmaputra and Moscow rivers,

01:07Brahmos was born from a 1998 Indo-Russian partnership

01:11with a $250 million investment, 50.5% from India.

01:16Developed by DRDO and Rocket Design Bureau under Brahmos Aerospace,

01:20the missile saw its first successful launch at the Chandipur Test Range in June 2001.

01:26After which, it was inducted into the Navy in 2005, Army in 2007

01:30and later took flight with the IAF's Sukhoi-30 MKI in 2017.

01:37The Brahmos is a two-state supersonic cruise missile.

01:40It follows the fire and forget principle requiring no retargeting once launched.
