On Tuesday, Rep. Mike Haridopolos (R-FL) spoke on the House floor about the Biden Administration's border security.
Transcript
00:00Florida, Mr. Herodopoulos for five minutes.
00:11Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
00:12I keep hearing the term constitutional crisis over and over again.
00:18Constitutional crisis.
00:20And candidly, the only constitutional crisis that has taken place over the last four years
00:24was the last administration abandoning their responsibility to defend our border,
00:30and allowing over 10 million people to enter this country illegally,
00:35cutting in line over and over from people who want to come here legally and add to the American dream.
00:42We don't know who these 10 million people are, where they came from,
00:46or if they could be a danger to our community and country.
00:50On top of that, they put a strain on our social welfare system,
00:55schools, hospitals, and our law enforcement,
00:57taking away the resources from the taxpaying citizens
01:00in areas not just on the border, but around the country.
01:06When food, gas, and rent prices were going up by 20 and 30 percent, if not more,
01:12over that time period,
01:14the very people who were breaking the law were actually getting free things,
01:17whether it be rent, free phones, cash cards,
01:20and other things that Americans were struggling to pay for every single day.
01:26Cleaning up this mess has become our responsibility, the new majority,
01:30the new administration that has committed itself to actually keeping the promises from the campaign trail in 2024.
01:37Instead of bending over backwards, helping people who are breaking the law,
01:41they want to look at and say, how about those folks that were left behind?
01:44They were facing a constitutional crisis in the sense that their own government were not enforcing the laws of this land.
01:51So as the new administration is moving forward to deport gang members, wife beaters, and others,
01:58the real constitutional crisis is finally being defined,
02:02that America should finally stand up for the citizens that make this country great
02:06and allow people to enter this country in a legal way so they can contribute to the American dream.
02:12I'm so proud of this administration for keeping those campaign promises
02:15and working swiftly and in a smart way to deport those folks who broke the law,
02:20not just coming to this country, but once here in this country.
02:23And for a change, I think a lot of people are finally saying that the government is working for them instead of against them.
02:31And let's send this clear message that law and order means something,
02:35the constitutional means something, and we can finally end this constitutional crisis.
02:40I applaud the president for moving forward and allowing the American people to stand up
02:45because let's just look at it candidly.
02:47When you're standing up exclusively for judges, you're not having a checks and balance system.
02:51You're putting one single judge above the American public on the popular vote, let alone the electoral college.
02:58And I'm so glad that this House said that we're going to move forward in a thoughtful way
03:03and not allow, again, one single judge who's not elected by the people decide the policies of this government.
03:09Mr. President, thank you for your leadership.
03:12We stand with you in making sure the rule of law is finally followed
03:15and ending the constitutional crisis that existed for the last four years.
03:21And with that, Mr. Speaker, I yield back.
