00:20We are in the Mission Impossible Story and Spectacle exhibition at Museum of the Moving Image in New York City
00:28and it is an exploration of this incredible 30-year film franchise that has completely redefined action cinema
00:36and it's a deep dive into the story structure and also really a focus on the incredible practical stunt work by Tom Cruise
00:44and the filmmaking team through each of the seven soon-to-be-eight films.

00:51So for each of the films we have the message device that, you know, where Ethan Hunt sort of hears his mission that of course self-destructs in five seconds.
01:03So for Mission Impossible 2 the self-destructing sunglasses that he gets at the top of that incredible mountain in Utah
01:11and then that's paired for each of the films with the key, an object that represents the key threat.
01:17So for Mission Impossible 2 what that means is the chimera virus.
01:21So we have the gun that sort of, you know, infects you with the chimera, this world-ending virus.
01:29And this is a scene from Dead Reckoning which came out in 2023 where Ethan Hunt famously jumps off of a cliff on a motorcycle.
01:41We have the motorcycle here in the exhibition so visitors to Museum of the Moving Image will be able to see that
01:47in addition to this large-scale clip from the film with, of course, these bespoke mannequins of Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
01:57in the costumes that were worn on screen for that film.

02:17As a child, four years old, I wanted to make movies and I wanted to travel the world and I wanted to learn all of these things
02:24and learn about people and culture and I wanted to fly jets and airplanes and parachutes and motorcycles and cars
02:32and, you know, learn how to do samurai swords and, and so to be able to live my dream and to be accepted and allowed to entertain audiences
