Sunway Group has received the nod to develop a 20.8 acre plot of land belonging to the Railway Assets Corp (RAC) in the heart of the city, with the project set to transform Seremban into a more vibrant capital.  Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook said Sunway was selected as the lead developer for the new integrated, mixed-use development known as Seremban Sentral following a competitive request for proposal process carried out by the RAC in May last year. 00:06Assets Corporation, or RAC, in the heart of Sremban.

00:11Known as Sremban Central, the new integrated, mixed-use development project is expected

00:16to transform the city center into a more dynamic capital.

00:20According to Transport Minister Anthony Lok Su Phuc, Sunway was selected as the lead developer

00:25following a competitive bidding process conducted by the RAC in May last year.

00:31So with this concept, we know that it will become a community here.

00:36Because there will be a healthcare center, there will be a education institution, there

00:43will be commercial activities, and hopefully through our train station, it can connect

00:51people by public transportation, by rail.

00:54So this is our long-term vision, and this is the value that we are looking at.

00:58The RAC is a federal statutory body under the Transport Ministry.

01:10Sao Min inked the Memorandum of Agreement on the 8th of May.

01:14The signing ceremony was witnessed by Lok, RAC Board of Directors Chairman Datuk Janna

01:19Santhiran Munyayan, Sunway Group founder and Chairman Tanshri Sir Dr. Jeffrey Chia and other

01:26ministry and corporate representatives.

01:28Chia, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to the RAC for picking Sunway as its partner.

01:34Back in the late 1960s and early 70s, like many of us in Kuala Lumpur, I used to think of

01:44Saramban as just a sleepy Kuala Lumpur of a town where we have to go through here to get a protection.

01:51And over the years, of course, Ramban has grown and become a city in its own pride.

02:00The proposed 21-acre Sunway Central Ramban integrated the development will add to the city's vibrancy

02:10and appear and emerge as a dynamic half of urban living and create connectivity.

02:18He added that the project was the group's maiden project in Negri Sembilan and will be

02:23modeled along the lines of its successful Sunway Velocity, a 23-acre integrated complex

02:29located in the Chera suburbs of Kuala Lumpur.

02:32Meanwhile, Lok said Sunway was successful in its tender bid as it had given the highest value

02:38in terms of returns to the RAC and the cost it paid for the land was even higher than the

02:44government's valuation.

02:46He added that its development concept, which would see the development of a mini township,

02:51was also the best.

02:52Sunway was the highest speeder.

02:54So this is something which we are very, very proud of.

02:59Because I'm sure many like me would have a lot of confidence into the brand Sunway.

03:09You mentioned just now that Lee Kuan Yew once said you turn the wasteland to a wonderland.

03:16I would say you turn an abandoned tin mine into a commercial gold mine.

03:22The project, which would be carried out under the transit-oriented development concept, will

03:27have an estimated gross domestic value of 2 billion ringgit.
