00:13Russia to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Pope Leo XIV officiated the first mass of his
00:23pontificate in the Sistine Chapel in front of all cardinals.
00:26Palamas popular sectors and unions continue mobilizing to demand the consolation of the
00:36social security reform law. Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from
00:49Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:56On the morning of May 9th, the victory parade was held in Moscow to commemorate the victory
01:11of the Red Army over Nazi Germany and the end of World War II. The event began after the arrival
01:17of President Vladimir Putin and other heads of state. Before the parade began, President Putin
01:23addressed the Russian people with a speech, paying tribute to the history and sacrifice
01:28of the Soviet Red Army soldiers on the battlefield. After this, in honor of the fallen Soviet soldiers,
01:36a minute of silence was made. Military troops from various countries took part in the parade,
01:42followed by several units of the legendary T-34 tank, a symbol of Soviet victory.
01:57The Soviet Union received the cruelest blows from the enemy.
02:09Millions of people who were peaceful civilian workers took up arms and fought in every battle.
02:15They took part in the decisive battles in Moscow. They also defended Belarus, which was the first
02:37force to receive the enemy. The heroism of the people of Leningrad. All those who were in the rear
02:55and as partisans, all those who worked at the work front to the point of exhaustion.
03:01After witnessing the military parade on the Red Square, Russian President Vladimir Putin,
03:10accompanied by the leaders of China and Venezuela, honored the memory of the
03:14fallen combatants with a minute of silence and a wrath at the tom of the unknown soldier.
03:20The site is one of the most emblematic places of the Russian capital, located next to the
03:25Kremlin wall in the Alexander Garden.
03:37The residents of Venezuela and Cuba were sent off with a standing ovation by the Russian people
03:42in Moscow's emblematic Red Square after the Victory Day Parade. In this context, the Venezuelan Head of
03:47State, Nicolas Maduro thanked the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the Russian people for the
03:53extraordinary hospitality during his visit in the framework of the occasion on the commemoration
03:59of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army in the Great Patriotic War. The presence of
04:04Venezuela and Cuba in these commemorative acts highlights the close relationship between the
04:10countries as well as the importance they attach to the historical memory and the fight against fascism.
04:23Venezuela congratulated the peoples and governments of Russia and the former Soviet Union nations on the
04:3380th anniversary of their victory in the Great Patriotic War in an official communique that the
04:39government of the Bolivarian nation stated, Venezuela honors the memory of the heroes and martyrs who
04:47confronted the machinery of death and paid tribute to the victims of supremacist hatred. Their example
04:54remains a moral compass for the presence. It reminds us that there are struggles that admit no ambiguity.
05:02Furthermore, the Venezuelan government highlighted that with peace won, but with blood built,
05:08an order based on truth, justice, and non-repetition, warning that today that order is under attack by
05:15those who whitewash fascism, manipulate history, and promote new forms of extermination. To forget is
05:22to allow it to be repeated. To remain silent is to be accomplished. Today, our peoples know what it means
05:30to confront these threats. In its closing remarks, the Venezuelan government reaffirms, we are united in
05:36the struggle against imperial aggressions, hybrid warfare, illegal sanctions, and the arrogance of those
05:43who believe that the world belongs to them. Our answer is clear, a multipolar free sovereign world
05:50that is today's victory, and it's a daily battle. Venezuela celebrates together with its
05:55strategical eyes this luminous date, because 80 years ago Nazism was defeated and the dignity of the
06:02people triumphed. Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping in
06:15Moscow, Russia to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The meeting between the two presidents served as a
06:21space to reaffirm their commitment to cooperation and fraternal ties. The president of the Asian giant
06:27Xi Jinping declared that he will firmly support Venezuela in the defense of its sovereignty,
06:33national dignity, and social stability. Let us remember that Caracas and Beijing have a path of
06:39cooperation in the plan of seven transformations that the government of Venezuela has for the recovery
06:45of the country and to face the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States.
06:49Also, Russian president Vladimir Putin and his Brazilian counterpart Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva held a bilateral
07:02meeting this Friday as part of the Victory Day celebrations. The Russian head of state emphasized the
07:07joint work with the Brazilian leader to strengthen relations between the countries, stressing that they
07:13are constantly developing. The Brazilian president in turn expresses interest in discussing
07:19military space, scientific, economic, educational, and energy issues as well as his aim to strengthen
07:26the strategic partnership with Russia. The Russian president affirmed that Brazil represents an important
07:32part of his country's trade volume with the Latin American and Caribbean region.
