German woman has no signs of cancer after undergoing a new double-lung transplant surgery

The surgery method could offer new hope for some late-stage cancer patients who are out of other options.

00:00It was quite obvious she was suffering from a pretty, you know, unfortunate situation
00:24with very advanced cancer that had replaced both her lungs.
00:27She was having difficulty even speaking in single sentences because the lungs were failing
00:34and clearly she was at the end of the road.
00:36So the transplant was the only option to not only fix the lung failure that she had from
00:45cancer being so advanced, but also potentially remove all of that cancer and give her a chance
00:50for a durable control of that cancer long term.
00:53I was always very interested in clinical trials because I thought that's at least like playing
00:59the lottery.
01:00I don't know the odds yet.
01:02Maybe it's something groundbreaking.
01:09No one knows what will happen, but when I'm told that I'll probably see my kids grow up,
01:15which is at least 10 years from now when they're eight now, it's pretty amazing.
