00:00This morning, I'm going to go by in 1927, after 8 times very long, Bills
00:30For at least four or five days easily.
01:00The excitement at the start of your first Giro d'Italia.
01:13I'm pretty excited.
01:18It feels a bit strange actually starting a Grand Tour already.
01:24I think I need to get into the race and get into the routine.
01:28And it will sink in a little bit.
01:31I'm doing the Giro for the first time.
01:34Do you like that today's finale is downhill towards the finish?
01:39Do I like that it's downhill?
01:41I don't know, it doesn't matter.
01:43I think it's going to be a good race, a good stage to start the race.
01:47It's going to be hard and exciting, so we'll see.
01:51And it's Tornelli who finds himself on the front from Polti Visit Malta.
01:55And they're just going to roll through, which is, I'm surprised by that.
01:59Tucker van der Hoorn passes in second place, but it's Tornelli Alessandro.
02:04Do you feel it's the last dance?
02:06No.
02:07Why?
02:08I want to enjoy every second and I think when you start to think about it, then you're
02:14maybe out a bit of the race.
02:16So the full focus is to perform.
02:18It's a big task and, you know, it's my decision, the team decision to end the best possible way
02:28without overthinking it.
02:30As a beginning, it was quite fast, you know, and now we're heading to another non-sprinted
02:39intermediate.
02:40It's interesting, isn't it?
02:41We've got Manoeli Tarozzi from VF Group Bardiani who has now maneuvered himself to the front
02:47and he's going to stay on the front and I don't think anyone will come past him.
02:50So the two rival teams, Polti and VF Group Bardiani, have kind of shared the points here.
02:58Have to look at Countback to figure out which of the two has picked up the most points.
03:05And we'll lead that class.
03:06Out of the 21 stages of the Giro d'Italia, is today your favorite?
03:12I can give you a better answer after 21 stages, but this is for sure one of the stages we put
03:18a target on, so hopefully it will be.
03:21Could it be your favorite because it delivers the Balearosa?
03:26If I win then for sure this will be my favorite stage, yes.
03:29To win it, do you want a hard race?
03:31Do you want a classic type of race?
03:33Of course I want a hard race and I think the course is also, you know, inviting for a hard race,
03:40so I don't want a classic race like, you know, 120 k's of racing, it's also impossible here,
03:46so I think it will be hard and that's good enough.
03:49Is that going to work though?
03:53Monique with consummate ease and Venneren rushing them both and coming rounds, the Italian for the French team,
04:02Monique following that move, I think it's going to be between these two, can Tonnelli still get involved?
04:08100 meters to go, Monique trying to get past Vede and doing so, so Silvan Monique takes the maximum points over the top,
04:15Alessandro Vede in second place, Tonnelli barring his head in third and Torozzi beaten into fourth.
04:20He might be alone, well maybe not, Tonnelli's after them instead, Alessandro Tonnelli followed by Torozzi.
04:25Torozzi, those two riders have been battling for pretty much everything, haven't they, all the way around.
04:29Torozzi's got a chance here or he's run out of room and Tonnelli's going to see this through and take the six bonus seconds.
04:33Is he going to get there, is Torozzi going to get there, still just about now on the wheel of the man from Polte visit Monta,
04:52pushing for the line, timed it well, Torozzi and he's going to get there.
04:57and he's gonna get there wow there was some strength
05:00i think depending on where the line was let's wait and see who won that
05:05looked like he was sprinting after they'd been through the line but anyway it seemed as if he
05:11got that right tarotzi a rider i haven't spotted jacob i don't know if you have i've been looking
05:16for him i can't see caden groves towards the front we know he hasn't been dropped we would
05:20have noticed that but i can't see him too close to the front of the bunch no me neither me neither
05:26but uh such an important uh actor of today's stage i would expect him to be filmed in case
05:32he was dropped so i guess he's just surfing in the peloton well that looked like lorenzo fortunato
05:38going over the front the top
05:39and probably expect this race to this parkour to be too hard for for caden uh it will be
05:47interesting because um quentin hermonds has proven himself to be to be a very good bike rider very
05:53um good descender as well because he comes from uh cyclocross so uh it's gonna be interesting
06:00to see what is going to be
06:02enough for the peloton and and nobody's willing to attack that
06:07so we'll continue as well as we're making roads
06:10for our contenders that doesn't have a good deal
06:13no it's not just one of the other riders it's uh maybe watch us
06:16no it's not just one of the

07:37100 meters Pedersen very much the favorite that check though has to go long here and go as hard as he can
07:45Pedersen's not gonna want to open up his sprint just yet a little bit of patience Van Aert on the wheel
07:49And Van Aert stuck to the wheel of Maz Pedersen a brilliant lead out from Matthias Maschek
07:55And now he opens up his sprint now Maz Pedersen goes
07:58Van Aert
08:00Fighting for rum on the barriers down the middle though an attack from Ante Marche Wonti
08:05But it's Pedersen who's gonna hold off Van Aert, is he? Van Aert runs it mighty close but Pedersen holds off the challenger Wont Van Aert
08:13Celebrations all round from Lidltrek who owned that stage they took it up a long long way out
08:18They forced the selection Van Aert though showing a lot of form and finishing in a
