00:00It's all about war, now and later, everywhere across the world, watching everything unfold.

00:11Going to war, leaving home, to the battlefields all alone, all the people lost and missing,

00:18everybody watching and listening. When my dad left, and he came back wishing for no more,

00:26when my dad left, I believed he'd come back safe. I had never gone to war before, I hope he will come back.

00:39Heroes of the past, present and future. When I waved through the pain as my dad drove away,

00:48the days without him were cruel and cold, and he was the one I longed to hold.

00:54But he came back, and the days became great. When I need him, he's never late.

01:00I hope to be just like him. Heroes can be thick and thin.

01:05The 8th of May started so quietly, 80 years ago, on this day. People knew victory was coming.

01:19Signs of war started fading away. Rumours were soon spreading widely that victory would be declared on that day.

01:34But it wasn't until late in the evening, on Tuesday, the 8th day of May.

01:49The news spread everywhere quickly, and cheering was heard on the streets.

02:06Dancing and parties burst out from the homes, with babies and tables laid out with white sheets.

02:18Soldiers were greeted as heroes. Sailors given beers by the school.

02:26Airmen were kissed by the ladies, to at last mark the end of the war.

02:36Crowds formed at Buckingham Palace, and cheered when the king waved his hand.

02:44Churchill appeared with a queen by his side, and proudly took his place on the stand.

02:56Then people went back to their houses, with plans for the rest of their lives.

03:10Soldiers were soon putting their rifles away, to at last go back home to their wives.
