00:00This is not only a huge step for our company, but for the entire global media industry.
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're exploring our picks for the most shocking controversies
00:10that damaged the reputation of YouTube, the company, and those that involved the various
00:16channels across that platform. I've made a severe and continuous lapse in my judgment,
00:22and I don't expect to be forgiven. I'm simply here to apologize.
00:26Dylan Birch, The Disney World Danger
00:30Committing mass atrocities isn't a concept for comedy, but a very real fear many have.
00:37Yet in 2018, Birch decided the situation was hilarious.
00:41And I want to ask him why in the world would he think this type of prank is a good idea?
00:48While at the Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, the YouTuber got intoxicated,
00:53and then went around telling guests someone was wandering around with a firearm.
00:58Birch reportedly did this to record the people's reaction as he told them he was joking. However,
01:04his practical joke caused the resort to lock down as the fake story was investigated.
01:10According to the arrest report, he was working on a school project and recording people's reactions
01:14when they find out an emergency was occurring.
01:17The police later found Birch hiding in a bush. Due to his reckless behavior,
01:21he was sentenced to three days in jail and banned from Disney World.
01:26Dear Fat People
01:27Usually, when a comedian makes a joke, there's a setup, a punchline, and laughter from the audience.
01:34However, Nicole Arbor's 2015 video, Dear Fat People, missed all these attributes.
01:39Ah, so people are already really mad at this video!
01:42She spent six minutes monologuing to the camera with fatphobic jabs, poorly disguised as jokes.
01:48Understandably, there was a lot of backlash, as fellow YouTubers and viewers heavily criticized
01:54her. The controversy even caused Arbor to miss out on film roles too. However, despite that,
02:01the Canadian influencer has little remorse. Instead, she made various other Dear videos,
02:07each taking shots at another demographic. Arbor also claimed she did the infamous video to gain
02:13notoriety, but it's not like the scandal springboarded her career.
02:16Did you expect to offend people? Are you surprised?
02:20Yeah! 100%! 100%! That video was made to offend people, just the way I do with all the other videos.
02:27It's just satire. I'm just being silly. I'm just having a bit of fun.
02:30Ruby Frankie
02:31In 2015, Frankie opened the family vlogging channel 8 Passengers.
02:36Ruby Frankie
02:37Ironically, she'd been a high-flying Mormon momfluencer, attracting 2.5 million followers
02:43on her YouTube channel 8 Passengers. Ruby's personal brand built around tough love.
02:49But by 2020, allegations of mistreating her children began to slowly circulate,
02:55resulting in the channel's decline. After splitting with her husband Kevin in 2022,
03:01Frankie started working with counselor Jodi Hildebrandt on the channel Connections.
03:05In 2023, shock spread through YouTube when Frankie's emaciated and injured son escaped
03:13from their house and asked neighbors for help. Police soon investigated and found evidence of
03:19abuse. After agreeing to a plea deal, Frankie was sentenced to between 4 and 30 years in jail.
03:26Hildebrandt, taking a similar deal, also received 4 to 30 years.
03:31Jodi Hildebrandt and Ruby Frankie are now waiting to be transported to prison,
03:35where the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole will ultimately decide their fate.
03:39So when I look at this case, you're probably looking in that 8 to 10-year range for both of them.
03:46However, this was soon followed by a lawsuit from a former client and another from Kevin.
03:52I'm JayStation fakes girlfriend's death.
03:54When looking to boost interest in a channel, YouTubers will typically think of new content
03:59ideas or rebranding. However, Jason Ethier, aka I'm JayStation, went in a far more sinister direction.
04:07We're gonna say our last goodbyes to Alexia.
04:11In 2020, he uploaded a video of him tearfully explaining that his partner and fellow YouTuber,
04:17Alexia Marano, had passed away after an intoxicated driver struck her.
04:22If you're then released further videos, such as trying to contact her spirit with a Ouija board.
04:28However, it soon emerged that the police had no record of a fatal crash in that area
04:32and that Marano was alive.
04:34If you're eventually admitted he did this to boost subscribers
04:37and that his partner was involved in the ploy.
04:40Alexia was never dead at all.
04:44Let me tell you guys exactly what happened with all these my girlfriend's dead videos.
04:52Because right now it's gonna be a very truthful story.
04:55However, Marano then broke up with him and accused him of abuse.
05:00Onision.
05:01In the early days of YouTube's popularity, James Jackson, also known as Onision,
05:06was one of the platform's biggest names with his sketch videos.
05:10Great strawman argument.
05:12All right.
05:12One, I don't think you understand what a strawman argument is.
05:15And two, look at my ankles.
05:17However, in 2012, another side to him began to emerge
05:20as he made controversial statements about an ex-partner.
05:24In 2019, Jackson allegedly doxed someone, resulting in his Patreon being banned.
05:30Soon after, he was then accused of abuse by ex-partner Shiloh Hoganson,
05:35followed by accusations he'd been grooming fans.
05:38This led Chris Hansen of To Catch a Predator fame to target Jackson
05:42by arriving at his home to interview him.
05:44However, Jackson refused.
05:46He then issued petitions against Hansen and YouTuber Daniel Sulzbach, aka Repzion.
05:53However, due to another Chris Hansen being served accidentally, it was dismissed.
05:58He went to court filing his own motion for some sort of restraining order,
06:05and it was dismissed.
06:06It was, you know, one of the goofiest things I've ever seen.
06:10BetterHelp.
06:11If their commercials aren't popping up during videos,
06:14BetterHelp was sponsoring specific YouTubers.
06:17We want to give a big thank you to our sponsor of this video, BetterHelp.
06:19With a company all about helping those struggling with mental health issues
06:23by connecting them to therapists,
06:24it seemed like a good message.
06:27But not everyone agreed.
06:28In 2018, YouTube stars such as PewDiePie criticized BetterHelp's practices,
06:34accusing the company of faking reviews, deceptive pricing,
06:38and terms of service that stated it didn't guarantee therapists' credentials.
06:43Yikes.
06:44PewDiePie also highlighted that when viewers signed up via a link,
06:48the YouTuber would get paid,
06:49essentially meaning they're profiting from their fan base's struggles.
06:52It's been confirmed that YouTubers have been paid $200 per person
06:57that they get to sign up for BetterHelp.
07:00$200.
07:01That's a lot of money.
07:02BetterHelp higher-ups rejected the accusations.
07:05However, the company found itself in another controversy in 2023
07:09when it shared consumers' health data with third parties.
07:13Reset and the inedible Oreo.
07:15First specializing in gaming content,
07:17Kongwa Ren, aka Reset, began incorporating challenge and practical joke videos.
07:24However, in 2017, Ren took a pack of Oreos,
07:27removed the cream, and replaced it with toothpaste.
07:31Video prompted outrage online when Reset was 19.
07:34He did post a video admitting he may have gone too far.
07:37Then he went through the streets of Barcelona, Spain,
07:39giving the deceptive treats to people.
07:42Ren then met a homeless man and gave him some doctored Oreos,
07:46causing the man to vomit.
07:48He later tried to bribe the man and his family into not pressing charges.
07:53In 2019, Ren was sentenced to 15 months in jail,
07:57which he was unlikely to serve due to being a non-violent first-time offender.
08:01So hopefully he learns a lesson from this
08:02because he didn't have any empathy for this man whatsoever.
08:05So someone needs to teach this young man a lesson.
08:07Ren was also banned from uploading on YouTube for five years
08:11and had to pay the victim 20,000 euros, around $22,400.
08:17Ava Tyson's alleged messages.
08:20As a childhood friend of James Mr. Beast Donaldson,
08:23Tyson had been involved with the channel since the early days.
08:27In 2023, during an interview with Anthony Padilla,
08:30she announced she was a trans woman.
08:32And I think that is part of what the HRT did for me,
08:36was being able to accept myself and being able to look in the mirror and say,
08:40yes, you are a woman.
08:41However, in 2024, Tyson was then accused of grooming a minor.
08:46While she defended herself, claiming it was edgy jokes,
08:49Tyson stepped away from the Mr. Beast channel.
08:52The victim originally supported Tyson's version of events,
08:55but later stated they realized it was inappropriate.
08:57Donaldson followed the scandal by hiring a law firm to investigate the accusations.
09:03Part of that investigation is they recommended that I not talk about drama
09:06or really do anything online because it might influence, you know,
09:11witnesses or any people they might interview or ex-employees.
09:14After three months, the company concluded the allegations were, quote, baseless.
09:19Following this, the alleged victim called the allegations against Tyson, quote,
09:24completely false.
09:25The ukulele apology.
09:26With her character Miranda Sings,
09:29Colleen Ballinger took YouTube by storm with her skits,
09:32leading to mainstream success with films and TV shows.
09:36Bam!
09:37You're famous.
09:39Sounds easy to me.
09:40Well, it is easy.
09:41The views should start pouring in.
09:43However, behind the scenes, things were very far darker.
09:47After admitting to sending underwear to an underage fan in 2020,
09:51it got worse in 2023 when screenshots of a group chat she was involved in went public.
09:58Ballinger seemingly asked many inappropriate questions to minors,
10:02including those that evolved around intimate acts.
10:05As the scandal grew, causing racist and insensitive past videos to resurface,
10:10Ballinger did something no one expected.
10:12She released a YouTube apology video while singing as she played the ukulele.
10:16All aboard the toxic gossip train.
10:21Chugging down the tracks of misinformation.
10:25It was strange and caused a lot of backlash and mockery that she hasn't recovered from since.
10:31Jeff Wittick's Horror Injuries
10:33Typically, when a group of influencers team up for content, everyone benefits in some way.
10:39However, for Wittick and David Dobrik's vlog squad, it ended horribly.
10:44I just jumped out of a plane 20 times.
10:46What's the worst that could happen?
10:48In 2020, Wittick was severely injured by a stunt,
10:52resulting in suffering many terrible injuries.
10:55In 2021, he released a series of videos titled Don't Try This at Home,
10:59which detailed what happened and the aftermath.
11:03As the squad was filming stunts in a lake in Utah,
11:06one part involved Wittick holding onto a rope as Dobrik swung the excavator it was attached to.
11:12However, Dobrik was more aggressive with the movements.
11:14He then stopped suddenly, causing Wittick to collide with the vehicle.
11:18In 2022, Wittick issued a $10 million lawsuit against Dobrik for causing his injuries.
11:25I felt stupid that I even got myself in that situation.
11:29And that I even allowed somebody to have control of my life.
11:33Hossein Zadeh vs. Klein
11:35You may know these parties better as YouTube personalities Bold Guy and H3H3 Productions.
11:42For those unfamiliar with the works of Ethan and Ila Klein,
11:45their two channels, H3H3 and Ethan and Ila,
11:49boast comedy skits, reaction videos, and YouTube criticism.
11:52When they reacted to a video uploaded by Matt Haas' own,
11:56the channel's owner, Matthew Hossein Zadeh,
11:59didn't take too kindly to the slamming or their use of his content.
12:03You know, when you watch a porn, you endure this s*** because you know it's going somewhere,
12:07but here it's like there's no payoff.
12:10His lawyer demanded the video to be taken down, never spoken of again,
12:14and wanted $4,000 in compensation.
12:17The lawsuit continued, causing big names like Philip DeFranco and the Fine Brothers
12:22to band together to help fund H3H3's defense in the name of fair use.
12:28YouTube heroes and subscriber bug
12:302016 will go down as a write-off for just about everybody, especially YouTube.
12:36Throughout the year, many YouTubers saw a hefty dip in their subscribers
12:39and were understandably a little miffed.
12:42In response to the outcry, YouTube kind of admitted they didn't know what was happening,
12:47later saying it was a bug.
12:48What is happening, YouTube? I need answers.
12:51To add fuel to the rage fire, YouTube then came out with YouTube Heroes in September 2016,
12:57a program that would allow users to flag videos, report users, and assist in closed captioning.
13:04Basically, they wanted people to work for YouTube for free.
13:08In a sad twist of irony, the community backlash was so brutal
13:11that YouTube disabled the comment section on the video.
13:14Talk about a downvote.
13:16Marina Joyce fake kidnapping
13:18In July 2016, this young beauty vlogger came under serious scrutiny.
13:23In a video about date outfits,
13:25Marina Joyce seemed to be behaving strangely.
13:28Click the link or click this right now if you would like to buy their clothes.
13:32Her fans immediately noticed she wasn't her normal energetic self,
13:36and some even thought they could see bruises on her body.
13:39Many took these as signs Joyce was in danger,
13:42with some even speculating she was kidnapped by ISIS.
13:45The hashtag Save Marina Joyce quickly spread online,
13:49with fears escalating to the point that authorities visited her home.
13:52In reality, the video was just an awkward advertisement,
13:56and her bruises a result of a tumble in the woods prior to shooting the video.
14:00Whether this was a stunt Joyce pulled, the real deal,
14:03or just a lot of jumping to conclusions, it's still quite something.
14:07The beauty racism scandal
14:09What do they say about glass houses and throwing stones again?
14:12These beauty gurus could have used a refresher.
14:15In summer 2018, the beauty community was rocked by a racism scandal reported in Vox and the Washington Post.
14:22It all started with the fallout between makeup artist Jeffree Star and other beauty mavens.
14:27Gabby Zamora accused Star of being racist,
14:30but it backfired when followers dug up offensive social media posts from Zamora,
14:34as well as Nikita Dragon, MannyMUA, and Laura Lee,
14:37who once advised black people to pull up their pants when running from police.
14:41The scandal led to Lee's infamous and widely ridiculed apology video.
14:46Let this be me!
14:47Toby Turner's allegations
14:48Famous for his literal trailers and humorous music videos,
14:52What did man watch us from a distance?
14:55Toby Turner, aka Tobuscus,
14:57came under fire in spring 2016 for accusations from ex-girlfriend and YouTube personality April F.
15:05Soon after, another of Turner's ex-girlfriends, Amelia Tallon,
15:08came forward saying that Turner had pressured her into using drugs and had also physically hurt her.
15:14Jacqueline Glenn, another ex, did speak out in support of Turner,
15:18though she also claimed that she often felt pressured,
15:21but not forced to do things during their relationship.
15:24In November, she posted again saying that Turner was incessantly messaging her
15:28and that she just wanted the whole ordeal to stop.
15:31The Ace Family
15:32On the surface, the Ace Family YouTube channel portrays a luxurious and fulfilling family life
15:40that any normal person could only dream of.
15:42I will be the best husband and the best father that I will try to ever be.
15:52But search the internet using the patriarch's name,
15:54Austin McBroom, and the word scandal,
15:57and you won't know where to start with this channel.
15:59For one, Austin has been accused of cheating on his wife,
16:02Does your wife know that you cheat on her every weekend?
16:05Does she know that you message every single girl on Instagram?
16:07assaulting other women,
16:08and has faced lawsuits related to unpaid bills,
16:11namely the foreclosure of their $13 million mansion.
16:15He's also come under severe criticism for his problematic behavior relating to his own children.
16:20You guys ready for Saturday?
16:21Yeah!
16:22Elsagate
16:23Spanning multiple channels, Elsagate changed how YouTube monitors content.
16:27The foundations were laid in 2014,
16:30when Quebec City-based channel Webs & Tiaras began uploading videos featuring people dressed up as Elsa and Spider-Man
16:36in unexpected and disturbing situations.
16:40At first glance, the video seemed family-friendly and designed to draw in young viewers.
16:45But then things get weird and inappropriate.
16:48Then there was the channel Toy Freaks,
16:53run by a single father who liked to scare his daughters and show them spitting up food.
16:57The media was slow to react,
16:59but in 2017,
17:01a slew of articles prompted YouTube to delete thousands of videos and announce new guidelines.
17:07Eugenia Cooney
17:07Beauty YouTuber Eugenia Cooney has been controversial ever since her first video,
17:12due to her extremely thin appearance.
17:15In 2016,
17:16a Change.org petition called for YouTube to temporarily ban her account,
17:21claiming she has a negative influence on young girls,
17:24some of whom say they want to be Eugenia Cooney skinny.
17:27Eugenia subsequently stated that she doesn't endorse being underweight,
17:31and YouTube refused to ban her account.
17:33This in turn sparked heated discussions around the extent of control and influence
17:37that people can or should have over others' bodies.
17:40To this day, her videos receive a significant portion of dislikes.
17:45Nicole Arbor and Matthew Santoro
17:47YouTuber Nicole Arbor is best known for her infamous Dear Fat People video,
17:52in which she harshly criticizes obese people.
17:55Dear fat people.
17:56Ah, some people are already really mad at this video.
17:59She made more than a few enemies with her comments,
18:01all while gaining a lot of publicity.
18:04Did you expect to offend people?
18:06Are you surprised?
18:07Yeah, 100%.
18:08100%.
18:09However, she came into the news again for another YouTube-related fiasco.
18:13Matthew Santoro, who's best known for his Factual List videos,
18:17posted a video revealing that he had an emotionally and physically abusive relationship.
18:22This person prevented me from leaving their home.
18:26I was hit in the face.
18:27In a video from January 2016 titled My Abuse Story,
18:31he talked about the relationship and the ensuing trauma.
18:33It wasn't confirmed that he was referring to Arbor until she posted calling him a little bitch
18:39and stated he was using her for attention.
18:42Real classy.
18:43Leafy is here.
18:45For a while there, Leafy is here managed to make a career out of just ridiculing people on YouTube.
18:50Guess we're all good at something?
18:52In 2016, he decided to turn his mean streak onto autistic YouTuber TommyNC2010,
18:58making fun of his appearance and behavior.
19:00In a tearful response, TommyNC2010 claimed that Leafy's toxic fans were sending him death threats.
19:08All I wanted to do was inspire people.
19:12An iDubbbz content cop video soon followed,
19:15criticizing Leafy's repetitive and low-quality content,
19:18after which Leafy's subscriber count began to plummet.
19:22He stopped uploading content in December 2017,
19:25and YouTube isn't exactly worse off for it.
19:28DramaAlert and the RuneScape Predator
19:30No one can stir up the drama quite like Keemstar of the controversial DramaAlert channel.
19:36However, sometimes he and the channel jumped the gun,
19:38and in this case, someone got hurt.
19:40DramaAlert found a news story about a gamer named John Phillips
19:44using RuneScape to lure young women,
19:46and singled out Twitch streamer Tony as the culprit.
19:50Except he wasn't the guy.
19:51Tony soon received death threats and hateful messages,
19:54reducing him to tears.
19:56YouTuber Scarce entered the scene,
19:58and called out Keemstar's lack of fact-checking,
20:01stating that the actual predator was still in prison,
20:04and that Tony was an innocent man.
20:06Keemstar issued an apology video and offered the man money in damages,
20:10but many thought sorry wasn't nearly enough.
20:12I know the responsible thing is to acknowledge that we got this wrong.
20:17The Channel Awesome management controversy.
20:20There's only so much that people will take.
20:22In March 2018, former Channel Awesome employees alleged mistreatment by the company's upper management.
20:29They accused the Walker brothers of being incompetent and failing to communicate with producers,
20:34and alleged that the company fosters an incredibly sexist working environment.
20:38A few months later, a document titled Not So Awesome was released via Google Drive,
20:43detailing numerous further complaints.
20:46Channel Awesome brushed off the accusations,
20:48calling its former employees disgruntled and vindictive,
20:51making the situation much, much worse.
20:54When the dust settled, only four producers remained,
20:57where once there were 40.
21:00CSGO Lotto, T. Martin and the Syndicate Project.
21:03In 2013, Counter-Strike Global Offense became more customizable for users,
21:08giving them the option of skins.
21:10Soon, sites popped up giving users, no matter how old they were,
21:14the chance to trade and gamble these coveted items on Counter-Strike games on stream.
21:19YouTuber HonorTheCall started noticing that Trevor Martin,
21:22known as T. Martin, and Tom Castle of The Syndicate Project,
21:25both won a lot of money on CSGOLotto.com,
21:29which was used to win the in-game items.
21:31He then uncovered that Martin and Castle were CSGOLotto's president and vice president,
21:38respectively, which they hadn't mentioned.
21:45What started as a mother suing the game's developer for allowing her son to gamble
21:51soon resulted in a class-action lawsuit against Martin and Castle,
21:54who had broken the Federal Trade Commission rules.
21:57The Micah Stauffer Family Scandal
21:59Family-themed YouTube channels always seem ripe for controversy.
22:04I am personally concerned for these kids.
22:06It is not okay to treat children like this.
22:08And just call it a prank.
22:09DaddyO5 is one example,
22:11having had their channel terminated for causing mental damage to their own children.
22:15They would get excited when they would get a lot of views,
22:18and it was more for shock value.
22:20But the Micah Stauffer scandal involving her adopted son
22:23is one that's even more twisted and bizarre.
22:26In 2017, with some help from a GoFundMe,
22:29the Stauffers adopted a young boy from China,
22:31whom they knew had autism.
22:33For several years, audiences got to know their son Huxley,
22:37and how he was readjusting to his new life and family.
22:40Then suddenly, he disappeared from the channel's uploads,
22:43and the news came out shortly that he had been rehomed to a new family
22:46that supposedly was more able to suit his special needs.
22:49Do I feel like a failure as a mom? Like, 500%.
22:53While some of their audience may have been sympathetic to the situation,
22:56the overall response on social media was one of shock and disgust,
23:00with many accusing the Stauffers of exploiting the young child for content.
23:04Sam Pepper's Killing Best Friend Prank
23:06Former Big Brother housemate Sam Pepper is now most known for prank videos.
23:14In 2014, one of his videos featured him touching women without their consent,
23:19but a year later, he went to a whole new level.
23:22The video depicts Pepper in disguise kidnapping online personalities Sam Goldbach
23:26and Colby Brock, then forcing Goldbach to watch Brock get shot.
23:31Pepper was shocked by the horrified response,
23:34and Goldbach expressed the video's point about living life to the full.
23:38When petitions called for Pepper to be banned from YouTube,
23:41he responded with a GoFundMe page,
23:43promising to delete his YouTube account if pledges hit $1.5 million.
23:48By February 2016, Pepper began privatizing his videos
23:51and purging his Twitter account before re-emerging as a vlogger.
23:55Shane Dawson and his jokes
23:57Shane Dawson just keeps piling it on.
24:00In 2012, Dawson thought it would be hilarious to perform in blackface at VidCon.
24:05It wasn't.
24:06And he apologized.
24:07In the meantime, though, he'd joked, if that's the word,
24:11about Googling inappropriate topics relating to kids.
24:15He offered a quote-unquote justification for this behavior.
24:18It all resurfaced in 2018 when he was lambasted on Twitter.
24:23That same year, he copped criticism for his documentary on Jake Paul,
24:27in which he asked a marriage and family counselor if Jake Paul was a sociopath.
24:31Oh, and then in March 2019,
24:34someone dug up a clip of him talking about doing disgusting things to a cat.
24:40TanaCon
24:41If Tana Mojo will be remembered for anything,
24:43it will be the utter dumpster fire that was TanaCon.
24:46When VidCon refused to brand Tana a featured creator,
24:50she created the self-named TanaCon in retaliation,
24:53hosting it at the Anaheim Marriott Suites on the same day as VidCon.
24:56The event was sold well over capacity,
24:59leaving fans stuck outside in the sun for hours.
25:01I got pushed by a cop.
25:03I got pulled by the hair by a fan.
25:06And when they got inside,
25:07the convention was little more than a hotel hallway with nothing to do.
25:11The gift bags given to VIPs consisted of wristbands and TanaCondoms.
25:16Frustrated attendees compared it to Fyre Festival,
25:19and security shut the whole thing down after just a few hours.
25:24The Fine Brothers React World
25:26Best known for their reaction videos,
25:28the Fine Brothers announced plans in 2016
25:30to license their format to creators and trademark the term React.
25:35We are excited to announce React World.
25:37Many saw this as a move to capitalize on what is a very common format,
25:41and the Fine Brothers were met with heavy criticism
25:43from both viewers and fellow content creators.
25:46YouTubers with reaction videos were slammed with copyright strikes
25:49or requests for compensation,
25:51and the Fine Brothers suffered a loss of around 675,000 subscribers.
25:57On February 1st, 2016,
25:59Rafi and Benny Fine halted the React World program
26:02and decided to face the music.
26:04But it's going to be hard to ever forget this bad business move.
26:07We were never trying to say that every video
26:09or someone reacts to something else is something we would try to control.
26:12PewDiePie's racism scandals
26:142017 was not PewDiePie's year.
26:18In February,
26:19The Wall Street Journal pegged nine of his videos
26:21as including anti-Semitic content and Nazi imagery.
26:24PewDiePie apologized while also claiming
26:26that the media had taken his jokes and statements out of context.
26:30Nonetheless,
26:31he was fired from Disney's Maker Studios for going too far.
26:34The following September,
26:36Pewds uttered the N-word during a live stream
26:38of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
26:40and had to apologize again,
26:42calling himself an idiot.
26:44Then in December 2018,
26:46he was called out for promoting ER,
26:48an anti-Semitic, homophobic, and sexist video essayist.
26:52Pewds said he wasn't aware of ER's controversial content,
26:55but many found it irresponsible
26:56that he hadn't looked further into the channel.

27:15Logan Paul in Aokigahara
27:17In the history of YouTube scandals,
27:19the time Logan Paul filmed someone who took their own life
27:22deserves a whole chapter.
27:23The video saw Paul and friends
27:25traveling into Japan's infamous Aokigahara Forest,
27:29a location that is said to house the ghosts of the dead.
27:31The group eventually came upon a corpse hanging from a tree.
27:35They filmed the body,
27:36their reactions,
27:37and then shockingly uploaded the whole thing to YouTube.
27:40The backlash was swift,
27:42with even well-known celebrities chiming in.
27:45Sophie Turner called him an idiot,
27:47and Aaron Paul said he should rot in hell.
27:49I have never quite witnessed anything so in-fucking-humane
27:56and so compassionless
27:59and just with zero respect.
28:02The scandal and Logan's other antics
28:04eventually led to YouTube temporarily suspending advertising on his channels.
