00:00The ambition of White Australia and the legislators, the mission managers and the powers that be is to not better First Nations people, or any other person of colour for that matter, but to protect the facade of a proper colonial nation that is just and above all moral.
00:18Colour-borne constitutionalism exists both within Black and White communities. It can be a hindrance to justice and a barrier to save the communities, but is also the great white light of false hope, and potentially the reason why we're still stuck in the time loop of 1901.
00:37There is a long history in Australia where the idea of inclusion will bring forth reconciliation, but the nature of inclusion is fleeting and uncertain, and it requires an informed practice.
00:47I'm sure many of you would think of examples where Australia flip-flops on its beliefs. I reckon we can capture this best with the national catchphrase, yeah, nah.
00:58The typical Aussie knows that inclusion of POC is needed, and that First Nations people are valuable in some capacity, mostly to win rugby matches or 400 metre sprints, but nonetheless we have value to even the most racist of true blue Aussies in this place.
01:17They will include us if it presents itself with convenience, and sometimes First Nations folk indulge themselves in the quicksand without a way out.
01:25I'm forced to mention the referendum here once again, and I find it devastating that mob were forced into that corral where the flames of division became ours to put out.
01:35Where the failure evidently fell back on our communities, where we outed ourselves more so for the ignorance of benevolence, more than the apparent and moral beliefs of this nation.
01:45Sadly, this nation has proven that First Nations people cannot bank on benevolence.
01:50It is naive of us to think that the colony has our best interests at heart when they attempt to include us.
01:56We are a tool they use to be perceived as moral.
02:00It was made abundantly clear in the last 48 months in this jurisdiction that the abolition of Pathways of Treaty Bill, the youth bail legislation's creation of the first remand centres in this country, adult crime, adult time legislation and various other threats to our wellbeing and safety on our own lands, is not promised by the people we seek justice from.
02:21So why the fuck do we do it?
