00:00all right i knew it would come to this i'm gonna have a day of reckoning with george pickens being

00:07traded to the dallas cowboys this week yeah and i i would ask you this question before we get

00:13started are you happy being a steelers fan that he's gone uh i gotta be honest with you no i

00:20thought he was a really talented receiver and i thought that they um you know obviously he never

00:28had a thousand yards season he never had that many touchdowns but i still believe at the end of the

00:35day he was their most talented best player on the football field uh he really was like who was

00:40better than him no one and no i still didn't use him right and i think they butchered it and i thought

00:46they got sick and tired of him and all of his immaturity and and bullshack and i think that's

00:52why they traded him i think they thought that doing a deal with him was going to be painful

00:57well they weren't going to and scott i remember telling you off the air a couple months ago i

01:01said i i don't know how this is going to work because they're not going to extend his contract

01:05and he's going to be very hard to deal with and there you go so so scott what the real story here

01:11is that both sides the cowboys and the steelers they had dialogue before the draft they weren't

01:16able to complete the trade they they they completed one of the rare trades within a couple weeks after

01:21the draft and scott it really came down to this they were not going to extend his contract now they

01:25could have waited let him walk and get potentially a third round compensatory pick uh down the line

01:31but the problem is because he's he would not get an extension he would be hard to handle he was a

01:37handful very immature but very talented and he's just hard to coach as i was told by multiple people

01:44with a stealer so they got what they could they got decent compensation in fact that they moved up and

01:49around in 2027 and they got a third rounder for next year so that's not bad compensation for a

01:55quality starting receiver now let's fast forward to before we get to dallas what does this look like

02:01now for the stealer so they move on from his 3.3 million dollar salary right now it's going to be

02:06roman wilson roman wilson barely played last season due to two injuries he had the high ankle sprain and

02:12then a hamstring straight right now they when they when they drafted him they thought he could be a

02:16better third receiver slot receiver now he's probably going to have to start they're very light at

02:21receiver now i know they're a big heavy 12 personnel team what does that mean two tight ends two receivers

02:27one back they're not going to throw the ball out especially if they don't get aaron rogers it's going

02:32to be called hide the quarterback don't let him throw it run the football as much as they can

02:36and they're hopeful with uh caleb johnson their their rookie running back from iowa but the bottom

02:41line is scott here this is going to be a low octane offense they're very light receiver you and i know

02:47they're pretty loaded to tight end the passive game now could go a little bit more to the tight end

02:51than we probably expected to but their offense now scott it's just going to look different the passing

02:57game is going to look different again they're trying to figure out if well they want aaron rogers

03:02that's not the problem rogers still has not made his decision and now going over to dallas this is

03:07a fascinating offseason for them we'll get into some of their offseason moves later but this is one of

03:12those things that jerry jones alluded to it and he i'll give him credit a lot of us made fun of him oh

03:16he keeps talking about these big deals and they're not done this is a big deal their number one need this

03:22offseason was to get someone to play opposite cd lamb brandon cooks walked he went back where he started

03:27with the saints so they needed a number two receiver jerse pickens is a big time playmaker

03:33there's no question about it and dallas will throw the more the ball more certainly more more than

03:38they're going to do in pittsburgh so they get that big need they scratch that off we'll talk about their

03:43odds which have changed slightly but this absolutely helps them in the nfc scott this helps them this is a

03:50major need yeah running backs a little bit of a quagmire but this absolutely helps them there's no question
