00:00Yeah, basically I'm a dealer in mid-century furniture, so that's furniture from the 1960s and 70s.
00:06Some of it's Danish, some of it's British, but it's all kind of inspired by that Danish modern design movement of the 50s and 60s.
00:15So the business is called Retrovintage, and we're based in Glasgow and Stuarton in Ayrshire.
00:23100% of our furniture is listed on the website, photographs, videos.
00:28We actually sell more furniture unseen to London and other parts of the UK than anywhere else, believe it or not.
00:35We sell a lot of dining tables, because I think everyone needs to eat, obviously.
00:39We sell a lot of dining tables, a lot of sideboards, and lots of ladder racks, like wall shelving units.
00:47They're super popular.
00:48Buy some from auction, but mostly we buy from private individuals, go and collect from their home, prepare the furniture, refinish it, have it restored.
00:58And then photograph it for the website.
01:00The aesthetic of it, it's got really simple lines, like beautiful little shapes, mostly straight lines.
01:07There's no extraneous ornamentation, very straightforward.
01:11Nice lines, subtle, smooth little curves, nice drawer handles.
01:16The colour's good as well.
01:18A lot of it is teak, and people tend not to want dark furniture these days.
01:22So teak's a bit warmer, it's got that kind of amber tone.
01:26Probably just the simplicity of the design.
01:28Started the business in 2017, just from scratch.
01:34And funnily enough, at that point, I had very, very little knowledge or understanding of mid-century furniture.
01:41But obviously, the more I've got into it, the more I've learned.
01:43I've got a couple things in after divorce alone.
01:45Next.
01:4669%, we'll learn a little bit more about it.
01:47Hey, everybody.
01:50I've got to ĐĄĐ”ĐłĐŸĐŽĐœŃ with exciting floors.
