00:00And so I've applied for a special waiver because today is game one between the Wolves and the Warriors.
00:05The Rockets are gone.
00:06We're going forward.
00:07The Rockets are in the past.
00:09They are in Cancun.
00:11They're gone.
00:13They're all gone.
00:15Wow.
00:15Jim McKay.
00:16Sorry.
00:1770-year-old reference.
00:18I got it.
00:19I know you did.
00:20One of Stiney's favorites, by the way.
00:22Shout out to Munich Olympics.
00:23What's up, Stiney?
00:23I hope you enjoyed that.
00:25Grandy and Lucas looking at each other.
00:26We don't get it.
00:27Anyway, it's fine.
00:28Powerful moment in TV.
00:29Yeah, I know.
00:30No, you should get it.
00:31Know your history, you whippersnapper.
00:33They are.
00:33They're all gone.
00:34They're all gone.
00:34But apply for a special waiver because I just, one more time, you know, for Dylan Brooks, you know,
00:47for whacking Warriors out of midair and going after pre-existing injuries and things like that.
00:53Listen to Draymond Green talking about Dylan Brooks after the series came to its conclusion.
01:03This from the Draymond Green show via the volume.
01:07Dylan Brooks ran off the court.
01:09So, when I say you see what guys is made of, he ran off the court.
01:13Like, ain't shaking nobody up.
01:14You admitted that you was trying to hurt Steph Ham, which, again, fine by me, bro.
01:19Like, I get it.
01:20We all get it when you hoop.
01:21You know what I'm saying?
01:21So, if you're going to be on that type of time, wear shades in the press conference.
01:26You got to be on that time all the time.
01:28You're going to be talking.
01:30You're going to be Mr. Big Bad Wolf.
01:32Don't lose and then not face the music.
01:34Don't be that guy.
01:35Because, again, you lose a lot of respect for guys in that moment.
01:40I had a moment with Dylan Brooks back when he was in Memphis, and I said, the dynasty start after you.
01:44And the reason I said that is because things like that.
01:47Because, bro, you, like, so then guess what?
01:50Then Tyree Easton do it.
01:51He lead the court.
01:52I got love for Tyree Easton.
01:53His mind was talking.
01:54You know what I'm saying?
01:55My mom almost had to get out of the house.
01:57You got a lot of, man, you shot in the mouth earlier in the year, though.
02:01Absolutely.
02:01You know, I got a lot of love for the way he played.
02:04And I ended up catching him right before he was about to walk out the arena.
02:08And he was like, he was walking this way, so he didn't have to come by me.
02:11But in my distance, I could see him right there.
02:14And I went and dapbed him up.
02:16That was kind of a little save, but don't be that guy, man.
02:20Like, you don't, like.
02:21You got to teach him.
02:21You got to teach him.
02:22You lose a series.
02:23You got to teach him, right?
02:24But that's who Dylan Brooks is.
02:25You know what I'm saying?
02:26Yeah.
02:27And we understand, like, you a sucker, man.
02:29I mean, that was a minute and 21 seconds of loveliness.
02:39It was a lot to unpack.
02:39Except for the parts I couldn't hear because Baron Davis kept going,
02:42I didn't hear how he had.
02:44I didn't hear how he had.
02:44Baron's a part of it.
02:45Yeah, he is.
02:46And sometimes we step on each other.
02:48And Draymond's mom almost got into it, apparently.
02:51I got 50 different things out of that quote.
02:54There's a lot.
02:55Well, the big takeaway is if you're going to be that guy and you're going to
03:00intentionally try to hurt Steph Curry, and Draymond's like, I'm cool with that.
03:04And I love to hear that because that's basically what you do in a best of seven.
03:09But the one thing I love the most about hockey is best of seven.
03:13You drop the gloves.
03:14I'm going to cross check you, slash you.
03:17I'm going to try to slash you up and hurt you.
03:19But when it's over, we're going to line up.
03:22We're going to shake hands.
03:23We're going to dap each other up.
03:25And there is no excuse.
03:26And that is just the culture of what you do.
03:29And you play seven games in the NBA.
03:31And that's not the NHL.
03:33I'm not making that comp.
03:34But when you go through seven games and you're trying to hurt me and Jimmy got
03:39clipped at the legs and I punched Fred in the face, let's all like, let's dap each
03:44other up and realize that we're all so lucky to do what we do.
03:47And we fought hard for seven.
03:49And let's just pay each other respect.
03:51That's all.
03:52And so I love what Draymond was saying.
03:54Draymond spent more time on his podcast talking about how much he loves
03:58Shen Goon and what he thinks he's going to be in this league.
04:02And those two spent extended time talking to one another after game seven ended.
04:08I'm not somebody who gets terribly triggered because somebody left the court.
04:11But I will say this, like there was another thing in here and it's sort of during one
04:17of the parts where Baron Davis and Draymond were talking over each other a little
04:20bit, but he's talking about like, if you're going to be that guy, if you're going to be
04:25that guy, then you need to be that guy all of the time.
04:28And one of the examples he gave, I can't remember if it was Draymond or Baron,
04:32who said it, but talking about if you're going to be up there in the press conference
04:37with your shades on and your chains after a win, if you're going to do that, then you
04:45better do that all the time.
04:47It confirmed for me, not that I really was confused, but if anybody does want to go back
04:53to the game seven press conference and look at the way Steph Curry dressed himself for
04:59that press conference, you better 1000% believe that was not what Steph Curry normally would
05:06have worn.
05:06It's a coincidence.
05:07No, you're a sucker, man.
05:09That's right.
05:10That was the Petty King in full effect.
05:16Absolutely sending a message.
05:18This also comes from the same locker room where Jimmy Butler openly stated earlier in the series,
05:25I don't like that guy.
05:26And this isn't like a buddy heel joke.
05:29I do not like Dylan Brooks.
05:32And so this is one thing that I'm sort of always, I'm always interested in this.
05:39These are huge, big time players and there's emotions everywhere.
05:45And so Draymond gets under a lot of people's skin too.
05:48But you know this because you and I are afforded the opportunity to speak to a lot of players
05:55on the team, current and past.
05:57And one thing, sure, not named Jordan Poole, but one thing that we've normally found for
06:04a lot of people who have played around Draymond Green is, oh, he will instigate and get under
06:09your skin.
06:10But when the whole thing is over, really, really respect Draymond Green.
06:16Love him as a teammate.
06:17Many have told us.
06:19I don't know if the league feels that way about Dylan Brooks.
06:26And I love that in what Draymond said about going after Steph's thumb, did you hear the
06:31part where he confirmed, Stiney, did you hear the part where he confirmed that I was right
06:37in that argument we had last week with regard to whether or not Dylan was openly admitting
06:42that he was purposefully going after Steph's thumb?
06:46Not meaning, I want to try to attack that to win the basketball game.
06:51No.
06:52He was trying to hurt Steph Curry.
06:56And whether Draymond says, I get it or not, like...
07:00And that was my point.
07:01And I'm with Draymond on that.
07:03I totally get it.
07:04No.
07:04He says, I get it.
07:05Not I support it.
07:06I get it.
07:07Dylan's not the only one who will do it.
07:09Right.
07:09Still doesn't make it right.
07:11And so, yeah.
07:13I love the fact that he got called out because you will never convince me otherwise.
07:18His behavior in this series, once again, was completely inappropriate.
07:23But it's one thing to be inappropriate in your opinion, in your words.
07:28It's another thing for Draymond Green to say, you know, Dylan Brooks ran off the floor because
07:33you could do what you do in a seven-game series and, you know, Dylan was physical and Draymond
07:39was physical and they both had moments where they did things that were probably outside
07:44the lines and same thing with Amen Thompson and many other players.
07:47But when it's over and the horn sounds, then as professional basketball players and entertainers,
07:54you get together and you at least go through quick, you know, knocks.
07:58You don't have to bring it in with every player and, like, share thoughts and emotions.
08:02But it was cool what Draymond did with Shangoon.
08:04And you could tell that he was like, dude, you are awesome and you're going to have your
08:09moment and you keep doing what you're doing because you're a great player and you fought
08:13hard.
08:14And that's what Draymond does.
08:15The one thing, you know, you could say whatever you want about Draymond and I have, but he understands
08:20the game and he's very much a steward of the game in terms of, like, passing it on to
08:26the next generation about the right way to go about winning and losing.
08:30Yeah.
08:30I mean, listen, I'm always going to remember as much as he messed it all up and there's
08:35no two ways about it.
08:37He did.
08:37As much as he messed it all up, he lost his cool at the wrong time in the wrong way with
08:43the wrong person.
08:45But one thing that we learned out of what he did to Jordan Poole was that Poole talked
08:49about how for the first few years of his career, that was big bro.
08:53That was the guy who more than anybody else in the locker room took him under his wing.
08:59So I know it's hard for people to sort of see it this way because when we watch Draymond
09:03play basketball, it's always on the line, if not over the line, like it's constantly just
09:09triggering everybody.
09:11And there's so many things that I wouldn't even support out there or don't necessarily
09:16love watching.
09:17But when you're not in that heat of battle, you're right with what you just said.
09:23Like he does, he does seem to have that, especially late in his career, sort of that like elder
09:32statesman mentality of loving the game, protecting the league, wanting to, wanting to guide people
09:38the right way.
09:39Right.
09:39I'm sure there are plenty of you like, that's the last guy on earth I want guiding the young
09:43players.
09:44But whether you feel that way or not, he does that.
09:47He does that.
09:48And if he sees somebody kind of doing it the wrong way, he'll, he'll, he'll call them out.
09:54And, and I don't know, man, I, there's a piece of that that I really like.
09:58I, there Draymond, there's nothing that's ever not sort of conflicted, but there's a piece
10:03of that, that, that I really like.
10:05So I liked that he was honest about all of the different players on, on the Rockets with
10:09the way this all went down.
10:11And he wants to try to pass the game along like the game was passed to him.
10:15And he learned from the veterans that he went up against and veterans that he played with.
10:20And so when you leave the league and you love the league, like he does, and you know, we'll
10:25put aside the things that he's done that are outside the lines.
10:28But one thing we do know about Draymond Green is he loves basketball.
10:32He loves the winning culture.
10:33And I also think that he likes the NBA and he wants to leave the league in the way that
10:39he received it.
10:40And he wants to teach younger players lessons like that, where you play seven games and it's
10:46physical, it's contentious.
10:48And yeah, Dylan, you tried to hurt Steph repeatedly.
10:51And I don't necessarily think that that's a big problem.
10:55You and I had a full show and a half debate on that subject.
10:58But for this topic today, I totally agree with Draymond, which is, you know, whatever
11:04you did, you did what you did.
11:06And I get it.
11:07At the end of it, come over, bring it in.
11:10And you don't have to like, we don't have to hug it out and pretend that we're best friends,
11:15but come over and just shake my hand.
11:16Stand on it.
11:17Exactly.
11:18Stand on what you say.
11:19Stand on what you do.
11:20You played seven games and I don't remember any series that Draymond lost where he just
11:26beelined for the door.
11:28I feel like he's always kind of stuck around.
11:30I can't think of that.
11:32Yeah.
11:32I mean, he hasn't lost a lot of series.
11:34That's true, too.
11:35You know, that's true, too.
11:36I'm looking at the numbers here and Steph Curry is 24 and five in series in his career.
11:42Well, wasn't it the series two years ago that was technically the first time the Warriors
11:48had been defeated in a seven-game series where all Steph Draymond and Klay Thompson were
11:53healthy when they lost to the Lakers?
11:55And of course, Draymond stayed on the floor and hung out with those guys.
11:58Yeah.
11:59Boy, LeBron.
12:00You a sucker, man.
12:02Yeah.
12:02You know?
12:03I mean, I think they did a jersey swap.
12:05I think they went to dinner.
12:07Yeah.
