00:00Well, this is a historic day for the United Kingdom and for India
00:04because this is the biggest trade deal that we, the UK, have done since we left the EU
00:10and it's the most ambitious trade deal that India has ever done
00:15and this will be measured in billions of pounds into our economy
00:20and jobs across the whole of the United Kingdom.
00:23So it is a really important, significant day
00:26and look, it's been promised many times over the last eight years.
00:31Prime Minister Modi and I decided in Brazil last year
00:35that we would move at pace in relation to these negotiations.
00:39We've done that in a serious way, in a pragmatic way
00:44and we're able to show that that's what delivers results.
00:48So I'm really pleased for working people across the country
00:51who will feel the benefits of this, of course,
00:54at an increasingly uncertain time in terms of trade and the economy across the world.
00:59So this is a very significant step
01:01and I'm very pleased that we've got this far with this really significant trade agreement.
01:06Is there a way to import it?
01:07Well, we have negotiated the best set of arrangements
01:10but I've been absolutely mindful of the key sectors that we have in this country
01:17and how we improve the economic circumstances for them.
01:21We have brilliance across the United Kingdom which will now be showcased
01:24and drive our economy in what we can now do with India.
01:28So we've negotiated hard on both sides
01:31but I think looking at the outcome here,
01:35what you will see is that these are two countries
01:38that have come together historically today
01:40and what we've been able to show is that, you know,
01:43those British values of seriousness, pragmatic approaches
01:46have delivered the results for working people across the country.
01:50Well, we had a cabinet meeting on this discussion, on this issue this morning.
01:56I was really clear that most prime ministers
01:58after a disappointing set of results like that
02:01would get in the warm bath of saying,
02:04well, it's the electoral cycle, it was close.
02:07I'm not going to do that.
02:09I think it's really important that we indicate to voters that we get it.
02:13I think we need to explain the decisions that we've taken.
02:17You know, we had to stop the chaos.
02:19We had to stabilise our economy and that's what we've done.
02:22What we now need to do, I think the message is
02:25the change people voted for, the change we're delivering is important.
02:31We've got to turbocharge that now off the back of the decisions we've made
02:34but turbocharge the change so that people can feel it in their everyday lives
02:38and that's what we're determined to do.
02:40Thank you very much.
02:41Thank you, Carl.
02:41Thank you.
02:41Thank you.
02:42Nice to see you.
02:43All the best.
