00:00We're here at Penguin Boat Club in Shrewsbury and we've got Liz at the front here. Hello Liz.
00:04Hiya.
00:05And we're getting ready for a bit of a special event. What's happening this coming weekend?
00:08Yeah, so this Saturday and Sunday it's the Shrewsbury Regatta.
00:12What does that mean then? What happens at the regatta?
00:14So it's a two-day 1,000 metre course and 500 metre course on the Sunday
00:19with rowers from all around the country competing to win a medal.
00:23Oh, wow, okay. And is it everyone welcome, rowers and non-rowers alike?
00:27Oh yeah, of course. Obviously the rowers are here to watch and compete for their teams as well as support.
00:32And we have loads of the general public come because it's such a nice event.
00:36So can people kind of get a bite to eat and a drink as well, can they?
00:39Oh yeah, of course. We've got loads of barbecues on, etc.
00:42Ah, cool. And how long have you been involved in rowing yourself then?
00:45I've been rowing for just over four years now at Penguin.
00:48Yeah. And what is it you get out of it? Obviously it keeps you physically fit.
00:51But if someone hasn't tried it and done it before, what do you say that's kind of the best bits of it?
00:58I think the rowing community and just everybody at the club is such a delight.
01:02When you get there on a Saturday morning for training, everybody's just smiling.
01:06Yeah.
01:06And obviously water sessions are just brilliant as well, as well as the ergs inside.
01:10Just really good for your fitness and mental health.
01:13Great stuff. So this Saturday and Sunday, the regatta, yeah?
01:15Yeah.
