Ramanathapuram (Tamil Nadu), May 06, 2025 (ANI): Fishermen were seen repairing their boats as the government banned motorboat fishing in the sea to increase marine resources and fish stocks. This happens every year for 61 days from April 15 to June 14. Fishermen are welcoming and observing this fishing ban as it generates more income as after this ban more fishes will be caught. For this, they are preparing their boats by bringing them ashore, repairing them, and painting them new. Despite the lack of income during the ban, fishermen who have been repairing their boats on loan in the Rameswaram island area have requested the central government to take steps to ensure that there are no violations by the Sri Lankan Navy when they go to sea after the ban is over, and to take firm steps to ensure that the fishermen return to shore safely after fishing.
