To help the World Organisation for Animal Health (formerly OIE) raise awareness about Tilapia Lake Virus Disease, we created an impactful explainer using our whiteboard animation video services. By combining clear visuals and emotional storytelling, this whiteboard animation company project brought attention to the global threat while connecting viewers to OIE’s mission for a sustainable future.

00:03Existing and new diseases spread.
00:06They can affect the health of fish, like tilapia.
00:10Tilapia is the second most farmed fish in the world,
00:13produced in over 100 countries.
00:17Globally, tilapia farming generates nearly 10 billion U.S. dollars per year.
00:22It is a source of food, jobs, and income for millions of people.
00:26But a highly contagious disease, called tilapia lake virus,
00:31has recently emerged and is spreading across different regions.
00:35No effective vaccine nor treatment exists to date,
00:38and this is not an isolated threat.
00:42New diseases, like tilapia lake virus,
00:44emerge regularly and spread throughout the world.
00:47These diseases threaten our food supply and livelihoods.
00:52Today, fish is the main source of animal protein for billions of people.
00:56And demand is increasing as population grows.
01:00Fisheries and aquaculture support the livelihoods of nearly 60 million people.
01:05Therefore, the diseases of aquatic animals threaten our whole way of life.
01:11But what if we could build sustainable aquatic animal health systems?
01:15To ensure a future for aquatic animal production,
01:18we must act in a coordinated way.
01:21The World Organization for Animal Health works to bring together different actors of the international community.
01:29Under a global strategic approach,
01:31we develop international standards,
01:33build national capacities,
01:35coordinate disease prevention and response,
01:37and provide leadership to improve aquatic animal health and welfare worldwide.
01:42By implementing the global strategy on aquatic animal health,
01:47we can ensure a sustainable future for all.
