00:04Thunderbolt's director Jake Schreier has spoken for the first time about the shocking death in the film.

00:09He revealed that the decision was made after filming was halted due to the Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes.

00:15Upon returning to set, the team felt the story needed more impact and risk,

00:20so they decided to include a major death early in the film to increase tension and unpredictability.

00:26The character who dies is Taskmaster, played by Olga Kurilenko.

00:31Schreier explained that, although Olga is a fantastic actress,

00:35her character's early death had a stronger dramatic effect and helped set the tone for the movie.
