China has more than 50 #nuclear power plant in different region of the country. China started on the working on this #thorium based powered technology in 1969. But china build this thorium based nuclear power plant in gobi desert, because it need molten salt not water to cool the reactor. So that why reactor can be built on any isolated area like desert. Salt crystals are mixed with nuclear material – either #uranium or #thorium and heated to 500°C to become liquid to transport heat and energy produced.

00:48China complete the construction and test a thorium-powered nuclear reactor in September, 2021. But this low-powered prototype can as yet only produce energy for around 1,000 homes. This is the safest technology. Because burning of thorium does not create plutonium, that is a highly toxic chemical element.
