00:00I remember Dave, he's a little blond-haired, spiky kid.

00:03Very good, always had a ball at his feet, always carrying a ball.

00:07that boy's going to go on and do what he's done in football, I'd have gone, yeah, okay.

00:11I've been so lucky throughout my career, a career that lasted for 22 years

00:15and I was able to play for some of the best teams,

00:18with some of the best players and some of the best managers in the game.

00:22It's amazing how these people grew up and they've got the mentality.

00:25You look back at his career playing for the biggest clubs in the world,

00:28and he was a legend.

00:32We were playing for the club we loved, we were playing in a city that we loved

00:35and we obviously won a lot of trophies, so it was an amazing time

00:38and I feel very privileged to have been part of his career.

01:53he's scored some of the best goals, he's produced some of the best performances

01:57At about 12 years old, you know, I was told that I would never play for my country.

02:06I made 115 appearances for my country, I capped in my country,

02:11I played in three World Cups and I had a pretty good career.

02:19We had David Beckham over here, which was one of the best signings

02:23that MLS ever made for notoriety around the world.

02:26His influence was pretty good for the league.

02:29The league has expanded since then.

02:32He helped the Galaxy win a number of championships.

02:35David Beckham has been a tremendous influence for the sport in this country.

02:39I always wanted to give back to the game.
